1. Super hot Sunday evening bump - in the delerium of the heat... buy a bass!!
2. Just bought a Yamaha RBX1000 from Martyn - arrived really well packaged (we'll be adding the box as an extension to the house...) and the bass itself is wonderful. Communication and arranging stuff was easy as anything. Thank you Martyn!
3. GAS has struck... and now it has to be paid for... Open to sensible (and maybe even silly) offers. Two Fenders up for sale: [s]Jazz Bass - £450 + £25 shipping[/s] SOLD Fender Jazz Bass in Lake Placid Blue with Maple in Neck in superb condition. Scrtachplate changed to white pearloid and a KiOgon loom added to give Volume/Balance/Tone controls instead of the usual V/V/T. This bass is in A1 condition with no dents/scrapes on the body and only a tiny nick on the edge of the headstock. The body if from a 2010-11 Mexcian P-bass with original pickup and wiring. Scratchplate and bridge have been replaced and Schaller straplocks added. Only mark is on the back as shown. The neck is from a late 90s P-bass and is in OK condition (well used...). Tuners have been changed a number of times and the back of the headstock isn't in the greatest state. But everything works and the bass plays very nicely. 4. PM replied to, GEB7 on hold and photos of Hartke added. Such efficiency!
5.
I checked mine, which are very fat, low, flat, frets. Very different to the frets on my Fenders which are high and narrow.
Hmmm, interesting, have honestly (in 27 years of bass playing) never seen frets like that. Do you notice much of a difference from your Fenders when you play the Mighty Mite?
6. Don't think I've ever seen a bass before that actually had flat frets... is that original or has it been done afterwards?
7. Well, after an interesting weekend - I'm keeping the M81 and the Hartke VXL Attack is up for sale...
8. My second ever bass was an RBX800 - would love this... but no money. Would you like a Fender? Got a fretless Precision or a nice LPB Jazz...
9.
Are you tuning to the harmonic at the 12th fret?
That's the idea - problem is with my current tuner any minor tweaks don't register...
10.
You can download a boss tuner app free. Gotta be worth a go for nowt!
Only if it works on Windows Phone Time to upgrade my tuner and my phone!!
11. Another voice to the "just buy it" chorus. Had a Sandberg TM4 fretless until fairly recently... very very nice bass.
12. Hope this is the right place to put this. I've put my Fender fretless bitsa back together and it's turned out quite nicely (see photo... ) Only probem is that the intonation on the E-string is somewhat dodgy. My tuner is a cheapo tru-bypass type micro pedal I got for about £10 off eBay - and I'm not sure it's up to the job of doing the intonation - I can turn the tuner about half a turn and the "needle" doesn't even move - so for adjusting something even more precise... well I'm not too confident. So, looking for recommendations for reasonable tuner that won't break the bank but will actually do the job. I'm leaning towards something like a Korg Pitchblack - but don' t want to waste the money if it's not the one... [sharedmedia=core:attachments:246094][sharedmedia=core:attachments:246095]
13. Would potentially be interested in trading the MXR M81 for a Sansamp Bass Driver DI...

P-bass scratchplate parchment white - from genuine Mexican Fender - £20. Prices include shipping (2nd class signed for). 15. Bought these to try out some different stuff - mainly EQ type things. All of them have velcro pads on the bottom. BDI and B1on have boxes too. So, up for sale: All gone Hartke VXL Attack Boss GEB-7 - seven band EQ in reasonably good condition Behringer BDI - cheap way into bass DIs, brand new, only used twice Behringer Bass Ultra Chorus Zoom B1on - effects pedal All prices include UK shipping (2nd class, signed for). Payment by PayPal or bank transfer.
16. This was up for a sale a while back but nobody wanted it so I kept it (for now) and gave it something of a makeover. Had to shim the neck and the tuners are a bit stiff. The back of the headstock is a bit of a mess because the eck has had at least three different sets of tuners over its lifetime. But it sounds great with Warwick medium Reds, action is reasonably low and it's fun to play. Guess it might stick around for a while. Quite pleased with the result
17. Trueno, sounds like an interesting idea. Anyone know if plug cutters like these (the 6mm one) might do the job? http://www.uktoolcentre.co.uk/Shop/p~133413~Plug-Cutter-Set-4pce.html
18. And thanks for all the other comments whilst I was typing my last reply. If I clear a little space around the broken screw needle nose pliers might indeed do the job. Just not sure I've got the patience (see: didn't drill a pilot hole in the first place )
19. Thanks HowieBass, a quick Google search based on your comment turned up hollow screw extractors - smallest I can find is 1/4" - which, measuring on the headstock, is going to leave a larger hole than I'd like. I did see a suggestion of using panel pins to bang in a series of small holes around the broken screw to loosen it - not sure that would be much better, and harder to fill the damage I suppose. Not sure wood filler would give a good base to re-drill the hole, but would allow me to put in a dummy screwhead for "the look"...
20. Putting new tuners on my somewhat beaten up fretless Fender neck. I (stupidly) didn't drill a pilot hole for one screw (for the other three the holes already lined up). Anyway, screw was about 80% in when the head snapped off. Any advice on how to get the rest of the screw out? Is it even possible with such a small screw? I'm not too worried about the security of the tuner - seen plenty of basses where screws are missing from a tuner - but would like to make things tidy again if possible.
21. I'm not sure covering yourself with a young child would be appropriate - might raise some eyebrows
22. BUmp to say - buy with confidence, paddybass is great to deal with
23. Just bought a Behringer Bass Chorus from Pat. Super quick delivery and great communications. Buy with confidence Thank Pat!
