1. Weight is 4,1 Kg, wich is 9,0 lbs i guess. I haven't recorded it so far, but I'll do. There are some few of the Videos on Youtube, that show the Sound(s) very good...
2. Okay...here it is. Was delivered yesterday. I have to say, this is an amazing Bass as my V7 is too. It seems if my V7 is some Kind of "Chopper", the M7 is a "Racing Bike". For the last 10 Years i always played Jazz Bass like Basses, or Basses with a more "classical Outfit", so there is a little bit "getting used to it" for me, but it feels like a very good Addition to my V7. What I can see, it is unbelievable versatile and you can get Tons of good Tones out of it. The Eq is one of the most effective I've had so far. The Bass is superclean and powerful and reminds me soundwise of my Carvin LB75, but the M7 is more versatile. What I also like is, that the Pickups feel to be some Kind of rubbercoated and i like the Knobs better as those on my V7. Craftmanship is flawless and it was really good playable right out of the Box, but I'll do some minor Adjustments in String Height tomorrow. So far i am very pleased....
3.
I was looking at the M7 5er yesterday! A short review would be much appreciated.
I'll do so, but the Delivery wasn't today, as expected. So hopefully tomorrow, or in the worst Case on Monday.
4.
I was already thinking of adding an M7 & fretless V7 to my existing two, now there's a third option. Damn you GAS........
That's exactly what I did... I'm awaiting my M7 5-String tomorrow....
5.
Having got rid of my Fender Jazz 5 string for being too heavy (10lb+) I have wondered whether the Squier P 5 might be a lighter alternative. Do you know what it weighs in at?
Arrived today. I like it alot so far. Bought it for a "next to nothing" Price and it sounds like a P-Bass should. Weight is 3,8 Kg, wich is 8,377 lbs. I'd like to put some Flatwounds on it. Has someone tried the Dunlop Flatwounds? Here ist is...
6. I pulled the Trigger on a used White One with the Tort Guard. Mint Condition and for a Price, that makes me "don't think twice". Hope to get it soon. I guess I'd like to try Flats on it....
7. Just bought the T-Rex Sweeper2 Bass Chorus. I guess I'll get it tomorrow and I'll tell if it works....
8. Here is One for Sale... https://www.ebay-kleinanzeigen.de/s-anzeige/fender-precision-1966-hybrid-slab-bass-maple-cap/545988630-74-9389
9.
As Burrito says, acoustic basses definitely improve with a set of flats replacing the phosphor-bronze strings they are shipped with. Yes, a little quieter but much warmer and 'open' sound.
That's what I'm going to do next with my Ortega. First I was thinking about some Flats with low Tension, like Thomastik Jazz Flats, or Galli Flats, but now I guess, I'd go with some Black Nylon Tapewounds. GHS are the only, who offer a .125 Nylon Tapewound so I'll give them a Try. Indeed I the AB is very inspiring for me these Days. (+30 years 'Ear' Player too )
10. Here is my new AB. It is an Ortega C2-5. Just did a short Test, but i think i like it alot.
11. I guess these are also Jazz Basses. V7 in Ash/Maple and Alder/Rosewood..
12. +1 on that...
13.
Preamp layout for those interested
Good to know about the Preamp is: - It has a Trimpot to adjust the Output Volume - Centerclick @ the MidFreQ Poti = 600 Hz, Completely counterclockwise = 80Hz, Completely Clockwise = 2KHz.
14. Fame Basses are well known in Germany, as you can buy them at the Musicstore Professional in Cologne. I've never owned one, but there are many satisfied Owners. https://www.musicstore.de/de_DE/EUR/Baesse/E-Baesse/cat-BASS-BASEBASS
15. Well, both of my Sire Basses are 4,8Kg on my Digital Bathroom Scale. I don't know how much is that in lbs, but that is the only Complaint, if you want. I got Sandberg VM5 Basses wich are the same Weight, or a 4-String Elwood made of Northern Ash wich was 5,0 Kg, but had an awesome Sound. My Expiriences say, it is not a big Deal if you have a good and wide Strap.
16.
They are a nice pair - always a pleasure to get my hands on them. Oo, er madam! Compared to Fenders? Well, I'm not regretting getting rid of my CIJ Geddy Jazz to pay for the Vintage V7, & the Geddy would be a better bass than a MiM or CV. I've only owned one US Fender, & difficult to do a direct comparison as that was a passive Precision. Do i think the Sire's are lower quality overall compared to that? Not sure that I do....
I think so too. I've played the Squier CV P-Bas or MiM Jazz Basses. IMO the Sire Basses feel, look and sound more worth the Money and blows easily every MiM F.... that I've played out of the Water in a Minute. There is really nothing that makes you feel that you play a Bass in that Price Range.
17.
Sire Marcus Miller bass guitars must be keepers. They rarely seem to be made available second-hand and my request for a 4-string V7 in the 'Wanted' section hasn't led to a single PM.
I really love mine. Buildt Quaility, Playability and first of all Sound is incredible and I bet these blow every MiM made Fender Deluxe Model out of the Water in a Minute....
18.
What are the actual string spacing for each model? Both look incredible, I'm glad you're enjoying them
Stringspacing is 18mm on both...
19. same here... I am totally impressed, so I ordered a second one...
20.
the team in germany is 3 or 4 people i think... indeed ... to my knowledge (could be wrong) there's about 13/14 people in Poland.
Exactly
21. I know Adrian as 100% reliable. If you visit him in Aldenhoven in Germany, (what I recommend) you'll see, that it is a Family Business at least. The Basses are made in Poland by Mensinger Guitars. In Aldenhoven Adrian lives with his Wife and his Daughter in a Farm House, with round about 600 Basses and Guitars in Stock. He does all by himself. He has Customers there, who test Basses and buy them at his House (like I do),. Also he has an Recording Studio, is a Bass Teacher, is always in Contact with the Mensinger Company and the Customers who get in Contact via e-mail. As far as I know the whole Work is done by only a few (3-4) People. At least you also can give him a Call. He is not the Best in "speaking english", but his Daughter does well. kind Regards Tom
22. Got my V7-5 yesterday. In the Evening, ve've had a Rehearsal. I have to say, I am very impressed. The Bass came flawless and with a perfect Setup out of the Box. "Made in Indonesia" 4,85 Kg. (Not the lightest, but a good Strap will do the Job..) I have ordered @ Thomann. I ordered on Tuesday, the Bass was delivered on Thursday. A small Card named as "Quality Inspection" was made and signed from a Guy (or a Girl) from Thomann. At the Rehearsal, i've "played" a little bit with the Preamp/Eq, wich is mighty. I still prefer, running it through my Tonebone Bassbone, but using the Mid Control from the Heritage-3. Rest of the V7 EQ was flat. Nontheless, I found, the Heritage 3 Preamp is a good Tool and you easily can dial in a good Sound. Man, I wish 35 Years ago, when I started playing Bass, such Basses @such a Price were available. 23. Here is mine...Rig 2016
24. Well, two Days ago, I got my second FMC Cab. But I didn't go for another 1126, then for a 1156 Neo EX, wich means 15" & 6" with extend Range up to 10Khz. 300W/8Ohms, 99db, 17 Kg. I like the Fact that I can use them alone ( the 1156 for my Coverband and the 1126 for my Acoustic Project, maybe) but together....Holy Moly..mighty, mighty, clear, fundamental, warm and always well defined. I have to say, that I am very pleased. Here is the 1156 (btw: 53x53x40cm) and here a quick handyshot, both together...
25. Me too.... Here is my FMC 1156 NEO EX. 300W/8Ohm, 99db, 17Kg. 15" +6". The 6" is fully adjustable and switchable. "EX" means, the 6" has an extended Frequency range and goes up to 10KHz. I didn't wanted a Tweeter
