1.
I saw them a couple of times. Most memorable gig was them supporting Godflesh at the General Wolfe.
I left Cov well before then but remember having great times at the General Wolfe!
 2. f*** me!! 48 knicker for them greasy Elixirs?! Get Cleartones mate. They're fantastic and half the price and last ages. The coating is almost unnoticeable and never flakes off. Bright and rich too.
 3. Why have there been no women on the moon? Cos it don't need cleaning yet. What's the easiest way to get the top off a beer bottle? There isn't one, it should already be open when she gives it to you. Etc etc etc .. This is basically what basschat becomes whenever a female bassist is shown on a video or a photo. Ooh I wish I was that top horn! She wear that bass too high and I cant see, etc etc etc. f***ing pathetic really innit. Bernard lives.
 4. Shouldn't this be 'An All New PAYING Experience' ? &mpvc="]
 5.
And BC would say how crap.
I have completed my statistical analysis, and 67% of BC members making more than 3.1 posts per week think everything's crap if it's sold more than 162 records, and isn't Jaco Pastorius or someone with no arms playing a guitar with their feet.

 7.
Nothing wrong with The Beatles, theres hundreds and hundreds of bands called "The (Insert phrase, animal or name)"
You do realise it's a crap pun on beetles don't you?
 8. Jesus that's an ugly bastard. No golden proportions on that thing.
 9.
I just listened to them for the first time today after reading this thread, and I have to say, I like them
I laso missed the Glasto set and watched a bit last night. I also liked them, a lot in fact, they are vaguely fascinating and I hope they're in it for the long haul. Really good music and lyrics, lovely moody stage set, and I adore the bassist's drug-addled-failed-ballet-dancer moves
 10.
Not sure if I'm going. I think I need to listen to the album a bit first. Big PT and Marillion fan though...
I'm assured they'll be playing PT and Marillion stuff too.
 11.
Ha, ha, ha! Well, I can't top that. Thank you for sending me to bed a-sniggering like a peasant who's found a nice turnip.
I'll name my next awe-inspiring patch 'Henry' mate Hope he's ok man.
 12. It's brilliant, just tapped in a relative minor workout for walking bass in all 24 keys, it's bloody good, it's takes a few goes to get the interface but it really is good. And it has a contextual manual. My only pisser is that if you apply a new style to your composition, it forgets your mixer settings. Still, it's massively useful as a learning tool. And I really don't like most jazz. But playing along to it is brilliant. Totally recommend it.
 13.
Don't get me wrong Nige, it's highly commendable. I'd go for it myself if I wasn't so old school that I need my trousers to be flappin'.
Yeah I know what you mean, but trouser flappin ain't nowt compared to yer wedding vegetables a'quivering cos you know your tone is bang on the parson's feet without spending two large every few month.
 14.
Really? You've never mentioned it before, Nige...
I'm trying to help people save money, mate
 15.
I got the album, I'm a fan of both Hogarth and Barbieri. Gotta admit though, I was a bit underwhelmed by the album.
I heard some it, it's very, very ambient isn't it.
 16. Interesting .. http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/the-10-most-annoying-rock-star-behaviors-20130604
 17. Yes, I have to agree with almost all of them http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/the-thirteen-dumbest-band-names-in-rock-history-20130701?utm_source=dailynewsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=newsletter
 18.
Yes. Like most sweeping generalisations you need context. I would probably go further and say that the lyrics of certain songs will probably appeal more to women than men and vice versa. Those sing along songs tend to be pretty basic. 500 miles? Delilah? Even Summer of 69, and Livin' on a Prayer. Very basic story type lyrics. Men can do stories. I'm struggling to think of 'Women' type songs because , huh, I don't really listen to the lyrics. Although if I'm in a melancholy mood I often will and then I start to notice the different meanings some songs can have depending on how you interpret them. Look for an artist who appeals equally to Men and Women and you'll find some pretty straightforward lyrics with some very subtle underlying message...
Fiona Apple?
 19.
I've seen em twice in London. They're an ace band, totally on it, and better than the real thing in the sense that they have humour Pete's a gem, lovely geezer, it's always a great pleasure having a drinkie with Pete (and the band) before and after the show. Great to hear more lovely reviews of the band.
21.
Where are you getting all this coffee shop stuff from, you need to clarify I do like the mocha at Starbucks, but it has to be a rare treat, for cash and calories
You need to read the XX thread
 22.
You just made me laugh in front of strangers , whilst reading this on my phone , especially as you just pulled me up for a misinterpreted comment I made on the Mumford thread , seriously though it's cheered me up Hoping to catch up with the X x on iplayer later, I've really enjoyed them before
Sorry about the other thread, I wasn't singling you out mate, it was the 'Jeremy' quote
 23.
It wasn't meant as a dig, just saying thats where i think it fits if we are going to make boxes, and as i said everything has its place and Mumford have done well finding theirs, I fit somewhere else which can just as easily be joked about. Anyway, as someone else said, if we started a thread about any large mainstream band, the responses would be fairly similar and spread out.
Sorry, I wasn't singling you out mate! I meant generally there seems to be a lot of this class as a weapon thing going on. It's as if working class bands have worked harder and must be real authentic bands, whereas if you have a couple of bob spare and can afford a Strat and a couple of hours, you're a middle class ponce and don't deserve success cos you've got f*** all to write about, "Oh f***, Costa's has closed on the high street and now I have to put up with that Starbucks bollahhks'. Good working class geezers from council estates don't seem to have to justify their music, unless they are hip hop or rap artists, then of course they clearly have no musical ability and make right ol infernal racket, how DARE they shout rhythmically about how hard their life is and yet can afford a gold chain!
 24.
Fair do's Nige. My view is that there's nothing to stop side projects to engage your creativity while pulling in the bucks and adulation as a day job. Plus I am a slag
I need affirmation and of course adulation is nice, but it has to be for the right reasons
 25.
I'm hopeless at effects. I know nothing. I only own an OC-2, bought when they first came out (which I only use with fretless) and a Mad Professor Forest Green Compressor. Which POD is best to get? CB
If you REALLY want certain tones you have to work at it. I still know naff all about parametric eq, but I mess about with a 4 band para and have learned enough to get me what I need. I have a POD X3 Live. It saves a fortune on amps and cabs and sh*t
