1.
Um... have we had this before? obbm on here does great cables at a great price and offers great service. Recommended. A lot of members on here use them and have done for years. http://basschat.co.uk/user/12-obbm/ http://bassic-bits.co.uk/
Yep, I wouldn't dream of using anything else. Neutrik and Klotz or Van Damme, superb build quality. And exceptional value for money.
  2.
Just bought some Geddy Lee blocks for a fiver!
Excellent. Take your time and apply them properly and make sure they are perfectly aligned, you'll forget they aren't the real thing after a while.
  3.
That's interesting. I fitted my old Geddy Lee's neck to my sunburst jazz body and it looked great. The Geddy is now sold and bringing joy to another Basschatter but I bought a 99 quid Mighty Mite neck a while ago which would look great with black blocks. If you say they're actually decent quality I may give them a try. After all they're cheap as chips.
I got mine from the American Colonies http://www.ccinlays.com/ He's a bit of a funny geezer though, the Roman Numerals were wrong and I had to tell him to send me another, correct, set, he asked me to pay for the postage! He said he'd sold loads of them without any complaints. I told him they are probably the same people who get a tattoo of what they think is a lovely meaningful Chinese proverb only to find out much later that it says "Pork in Black Bean Sauce and Egg Foo Yung". Anyway, he sent me a correct set after I told him what they should have been. He paid for the shipping. Here's a pic of mine Ha Ha, I see he still has a picture of the wrong ones
  4.
No, I've always fancied an inlaid neck but the cost from allparts or warmoth was too much. For about a second or two I thought of getting a set of these but I think they're a bit naff. A bit like sticking go faster stripes on your nissan micra.
Well I've had a few sets of these, and they are VERY convincing. I have asked a few basschat members who have seen them in the flesh, asked them what they thought the inlays were made of, and no-one thought they were vinyl, they were guessing MoP, abalone, etc. They are much better than you think they are.
  5.
You can always get those nasty little sticky things from Ebay that look like you've got blocks (from about 20 feet away.........in a dim room).
Have you tried them?

  7. That's the P bass played with fingers.
  8.
In the average band with say, two (or even one) guitars, bass and drums, even with everyone playing very low, this is still enough to damage your hearing. I cant remember the exact amount of decibles required to cause damage, but I know it is comparatively low. Even the drums alone, played reasonably low can cause damage. If you doubt this, then do some research.
Does this help? From http://www.hse.gov.uk/pubns/indg362.pdf The health effects of noise at work Hearing loss Noise at work can cause hearing loss which can be temporary or permanent. People often experience temporary deafness after leaving a noisy place. Although hearing recovers within a few hours, this should not be ignored. It is a sign that if you continue to be exposed to the noise your hearing could be permanently damaged. Permanent hearing damage can be caused immediately by sudden, extremely loud, explosive noises, eg from guns or cartridge-operated machines. But hearing loss is usually gradual because of prolonged exposure to noise. It may only be when damage caused by noise over the years combines with hearing loss due to ageing that people realise how deaf they have become. This may mean their family complains about the television being too loud, they cannot keep up with conversations in a group, or they have trouble using the telephone. Eventually everything becomes muffled and people find it difficult to catch sounds like ‘t’, ‘d’ and ‘s’, so they confuse similar words. Hearing loss is not the only problem. People may develop tinnitus (ringing, whistling, buzzing or humming in the ears), a distressing condition which can lead to disturbed sleep. Remember: Young people can be damaged as easily as the old Noise levels What are the action levels and limit values? The Noise Regulations require you to take specific action at certain action values. These relate to: I the levels of exposure to noise of your employees averaged over a working day or week; and I the maximum noise (peak sound pressure) to which employees are exposed in a working day. The values are: I lower exposure action values: – daily or weekly exposure of 80 dB; – peak sound pressure of 135 dB; I upper exposure action values: – daily or weekly exposure of 85 dB; – peak sound pressure of 137 dB. The actions you need to take are described in the rest of this leaflet. Figure 2 will also help you decide what you need to do. There are also levels of noise exposure which must not be exceeded: I exposure limit values: – daily or weekly exposure of 87 dB; – peak sound pressure of 140 dB. These exposure limit values take account of any reduction in exposure provided by hearing protection. 9. Got mine today, and it took me 20 minutes to install it on my USA Deluxe Strat by following the installation video on YT. It works an absolute treat! And this is a life saver for me, it's like a blessing from above. I can use standard tuning and drop D with Sheema and not change guitars. It's a truly elegant solution to a very significant problem. Well done Kevan Geier!
  10. Well, none of the solutions worked, very odd! The Split is the quickest way of doing it for me. I should have split, edited and healed to see if it added more midi notes after healing, I'll try that tonight. Thanks so much for your help though, I'm learning fast! And it's fun and only slightly frustrating
  11. How much are they new? I'm tempted by one of these.
  12. I would never have found that in my lifetime actually. WTF 'Pool MIDI Data' is supposed to mean in this context is beyond my understanding!
  13. iBass don't have a forum AFAIK, and he hasn't been banned from here, so can someone explain what the f*** is going on please?
  14.
It's an option in Reaper... go to Options > Preferences, then select Midi under the Media section. There's a tickbox (third one down) called Pool MIDI source data when pasting or duplicating media items. If it's ticked, then untick it. What it does is use any edits to the original loop and apply them to every copied instance. Quite useful but not in your case! You can tell that a loop is pooled as they have an icon next to them in the track view.
Wickid! This will greatly improve my mood and work rate! I will check this out when I get home. Mornats, and badass, thank you so much!
  15. Here's another one. I have posted it before but it belongs in this thread My first gig last year with Sheema the sitarist at LushFest. Blackie is on the claypot. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MLZY7DqfwIQ
  16.
I recognise that little studio! Nice playing dude
Thanks mate! Still enjoying the $$? Let me know if you ever want to sell it on. I may want it back
  17. Excellent! Nice one Clarky, I'll get to see you live soon I hope, just so damn busy.
  18. Thanks Brian! It was really lovely to meet you and the lovely Hazel. Enjoy the rest of your Sunday, and your new bass All the best, N
  19.
Ok it's not really me playing as such but here is a picture of me trying out my new home made bell chime:
I really like that!
  20.
Yet you link to external sites without communicating to other users what the link is and whether it's safe or not? Whilst also showing that you're only interested in a shameless plug hidden under the guise of pseudo-concern for the OP. Not exactly a great example of your moderating/communication skills IMO, not that you're a moderator here anyway so it's irrelevant. Regardless of the opinions expressed by us and the OP, there is still no-one from ibass to defend their actions so this discussion should be done privately or with sides involved.
This whole thread is full of poor communication isn't it.

Brian just bought my Hohner B2ADB. He's a really lovely bloke, a true gent, we talked for hours and drank lots of coffee. Very easy to do business with, no messing about whatsoever. Unreservedly recommended. Thanks Brian
  22. Yes sir! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v9_VIXvCgl8
  23. I wonder if it will go down faster than a lead walrus, like the last one.
  24.
Hmm strange. I just tried it, I added a loop and then extended it over several more bars, it does indeed add to all. But if I add to the end bar it doesn't. Odd ! Must be a preferences thing... Only option, without reading up that I can think of, is to add a loop twice. Once for the one you want a crash, and a second time to stretch over several bars. I'll have more of a play when I have time and check for some reason for this behaviour.
Strange isn't it. You workaround works, I can't imagine one can't switch this off though. Thanks so much for helping!
  25. I should add that I only got EZD yesterday, haven't used Reaper for MIDI, and I am a true MIDI noob.
