1. Dave's an absolute gem. He lent me his Korg keyboard for nearly a year. The result is that keys are now an integral part of my songwriting, I've learned to play a bit, and had loads of fun with it. So much so I got tooled up with Novation Impulse recently and gave Dave his Korg back today. He's a superb bloke, incredibly kind, and great company. Dave, my gratitude is boundless mate, thank you!!
 2.
just my bass and box of effects. what else do you really need?
That's me too. One bass, POD X3 LIVE, two cables, small tool box, small bass stand, 4 gang extension, small towel, used spare strings, silk gloves, Old Holborn, spare lighter and a spare pack of Rizla. No amp, ever. I go direct from the POD.
 3.
They are fab. I ordered strings and they sent me strings. I was overwhelmed and have left a small token to them in my last will and testament. I have also nominated Adam for a minor gong from the Queen in the new year honours list; his services to music need recognising formally.
4.
Just as long as the owner is happy with it then it's all good isn't it.
Not necessarily.
 5.
I'm looking for some USA replacement pickups for my 2002 CIJ 50's precision. The bass sounds good but I think I can get it to sound much better with a pickup replacement. I was thinking perhaps some 62 reissues or perhaps some quarter pounders. I'm open to suggestion though. Would I be better off with a matching harness? Anybody tried the upgrade?
If it's non- export they will be USA pickups anyway.
 6.
The relicing doesn't seem very authentic. Smooth wear only happens in very limited places. The rest of it should be chipped. There's smooth wear in all sorts of places where the body wouldn't be rubbed with regular playing.
Yes, I agree, it doesn't look right to me. All that rust and sh*t too, why? It doesn't look used, it looks abused, uncared for, previous owner was a disrespectful tosser etc.
 7.
Count me in!
8. Tickets are £5 until the 21st of April, £7 after that, and £9 on the door. So it pays to buy tickets in advance, a few of our friends got nailed for £9 on the door last time. Thank you ! 9.
I'll be buying my next set from these guys based on all the great feedback.

not tried them, but due to restring soon so I might give them a go. Thanks for the tip.
You won't be disappointed chaps.
 10.
I've got a set of DR Black Beauties waiting to be used - hope that the "G" isn't dead - I bought them about 6 months ago just haven't used them..
I just ordered a new set, thought I would give them a chance again. I will be really pissed off if there is something wrong with them, even though I know Stringbusters will sort it out.
 11.
And strangly (currently) underpriced in relation to a washburn s1000?
Yes, very odd that. The Jack is an absolute bargain.
 12. These are superb basses. Growly, punchy, so versatile, very well made and reliable. My main bass for about 4 years. I can't recommend them highly enough.
 13. I don't like either but 2 sounds nicer to me. But it's about what YOU like. NEVER let anyone influence your sound decisions if they go against what pleases you.
 14.
Well thanks chaps. I guess it was the Stringbusters thread that compelled me to create this thread. I'd really like to be able to walk in to my local music store and buy what I need but sadly I can't and it's so disappointing. Rushworths, Hesseys even Micro Music on Smithdown Road were worth a punt back in the day. And my typing is getting worse - 2 edits to correct typos
Why? It's not like you can try strings out. Stringbusters will usually deliver within two days. They are very good indeed.
 15.
I wish the discounts for multiple sets of strings still applied for sets of different gauges... Otherwise, excellent.
That wouldn't work though would it, no economy of scale length or whatever.
 16.
Oh you'll know.. All you need to do is listen. and if you think: "Eff YES!"... well that's one thing. and if you think: "I don't know man"... well then that's another.
Yes but people on here like some very dodgy sh*t
 17.
Couldnt really do that in the rehearsal rooms or venues I play (not that we gig often), the monitors are either non existent or shocking IME. Our rehearsal room's PA can barely handle vocals let alone guitar too... I use a little 30 watt Peavey at the moment though so it's not too much hassle to cart.
Yeh that's fair enough, ours has Marshalls, Trace, Roland Jazz Chorus, Behringer .. So I always have something to go into at rehearsals.
 18.
If you're going to use that many effects you may as well Nice playing though Nige. I've been quite enjoying noodling at home through Amplitube 3 lately with my Strat into an AC30 patch. It's not quite the same as the real thing, having owned one, but at practice volume it's not different enough for me to care. I tend to find the real test for digital stuff is when it has to compete with a full band rehearsal. I'd be interested to try a sansamp or pod in that situation, but considering you'd have to lug something to make it loud anyway I'm not sure I see the point when I already own a valve amp.
I gig my POD X3 direct to desk with both guitar and bass, and I just rely on the stage monitors. I use it for everything. I haven't gigged or recorded with an amp for a very long time. No issues.
 19. Ok, since this little challenge has been so damn popular, I will give you the answer Strat with Lace pickups > Boss CS-3 Compression Sustainer, Boss CH-1 Super Chorus, Boss DD-3 Digital Delay with Keely mod and set to analogue mode, Blackstar HT Dual valve distortion/overdrive > into the clean channel of a Fender Hot Rod DeVille 4x10 2 channel valve amp with a THD Hot Plate I sold the lot and got a POD X3 LIVE. Clearly that was the right thing to do
 20. Sounds excellent! I saw a Kemper in Andertons. I'm perfectly happy with my POD X3 LIVE though. Modelling has come a long way, no doubt you'll get someone saying it's not like a cranked valve amp or some sh*t like that, usually someone who makes valve amps
 21.
Me too. Once they changed the coating they went to pot.
I had problems with both coatings but DR sent me replacement sets and I had faulty Gs with the new coating too.
 22.
I do too. I emailed them at 4pm once about a dead G string in a set of DR's and they rang me straight away and I had a replacement in the next mornings post.
I'd love to go back to DR Black Beauties but after 4 dead Gs I gave up.
 23.
I do too. I emailed them at 4pm once about a dead G string in a set of DR's and they rang me straight away and I had a replacement in the next mornings post.
That's what they just did for me with a dead E in a set of Cleartones, I was not the only one. In fact Adam apologised for getting the supplier to post it today instead of yesterday as they couldn't get hold of them yesterday, they really care! Service like this is rare these days.
 24. Adam from Stringbusters has been a total gem sorting a string problem I just had extremely quickly. I've been using them for about five years, they are superb, a great service anyway, but they've excelled at sorting the rare problems I've had with new strings. I unstintingly recommend them. http://www.stringbusters.com/ Thanks Adam.
 25. Excellent, Ad! It should be a great night! Thanks mate
