  1. Ideally it would be several isolated outputs to avoid the need for a separate PSU. A single daisy chained output is likely to lead to pedal noise if several (particularly dirt) pedals are going to be used. Totally appreciate the engineering constraints in adding this to Ant / Newt - frankly hats off to you for beating the competition to get to where you already have. For me a Deluxe version would comprise Ant + 3.0 Amps single 9V output (e.g. to power a Helix) + aux in. Other isolated 9V outputs would be icing on the cake. If the Deluxe version is happening later in the year, please put me down for a pre-order - I'm supposedly trying to buy less gear this year, but I would happily fall off the wagon for an Ashdown Ant Deluxe!
  2. Good point about the wireless receiver - would have been a neat solution to powering a Smoothhound absent a pedal board.

    Dunno whereabouts you're based Orbs, but young master bassfan uses his Berg 212 to great effect with his covers band. If you're ever in his parish, see if you can get along to hear them. Come to think of it, I might get a posse to join you 😁

    In your 212 travels did you ever try out a Berg CN212? General impression is that it's an outstanding piece of kit and, for me, edged it over my VK210 LNT.

  8. It really isn't too bad at all to use. A short initial learning curve but then a lot of fun. There's even a tips thread with patch suggestions. @dave_bass5 and @stewblack please jump in here.
  9. The AeroTech 212 is, on paper, equivalent to the BF Big Twin in what it delivers. 29 lbs vs 49 lbs. That hardly qualifies as "something slightly lighter". It's GOBSMACKINGLY AMAZINGLY LIGHTER !! The Big Twin costs £1,200 new which is hardly bargain basement - I don't think the AeroTech is going to be a great deal above this. If the cab quality is comparable, there's a new kid in town.

You and I differ on this (for once!) - I really like the guy who's hosting the thread: he's zany and fun and makes his videos entertaining, which is actually quite a talent, with a fair bit of useful information thrown in; although a couple of important bits that should be flagged e.g. the 16.5mm string spacing was omitted.

  13. Only seem to be puke colour available in the UK. If you want the Matt Black that ships from the US for just under £2k then that will set you back £2,599 over here. Although I agree, I'd much prefer to get my basses already over here too!

  16. Actually if we're getting a bit more serious: I had a Markbass Combo (AC 121 Lite) as my goto gigging combo for 4 years. It's a very capable piece of kit and I have no hesitation in recommending as being one of the best combos on the market. You just needed to understand how it works and work with it. It paired with "fizzy" drives a lot better than some high end cabs such as Vanderkley (which was no question a better cab overall). There's a similar point about P pups vs J pups. In my experience, P's tame fizz, J's can accentuate, particularly if they already have a 'growl'. So I think it's a case of spending a bit of time with the gear you have. Your bass, amp and cab are your core. Add a suitable dirt to taste.
  17. Or just get a Markbass combo 😂 The cabs have a natural tendency to roll off high end. Their amps often come armed with VLE aka vintage emulator which also rolls off the treble. Sounds like the perfect partner for all your drive pedals PB😉 Then if it's still not muddy enough get yourself a TC Mojomojo. Job done.

  22. Not come across these before - if it does what is sets out to in terms of "captures all the sound of a mic 'd classic tube bass amp" then that's going to scratch a lot of itches! Quick listen on YouTube and seems to have plenty of low end with the ability to include / exclude top end crunch via the harmonics - and mean that it shouldn't get lost in the mix. DI out included and all for £65 new. Looks really good, Paul! How do my observations from a YouTube clip stack up with what you're hearing in "real life" and with your band?
  23. @Ashdown Engineering - the reference below is to GR Amps (Italy), from another thread, who are providing a power out to power effects pedals, so this is already being done. But not on something that is specifically designed to go on the pedal board like the Amp or Newt. IMO it would be a 'killer app' if you managed to incorporate that into your pedal board amps, particularly if you could provide a few isolated outputs. Guitarists, who are bigger a market still, as well as bassists would start going weak at the knees...(and an aux in , so we can properly use it as a headphone amp, whilst you're at it please! 😁)
