  1. So, hypothetically speaking, if the OP had gone for a white Sire PJ with a tort PG would she have done well to consider a pearl PG instead, which is also available from Sire, as it doesn't mask the pup and black knobs so much? Purely hypothetically speaking of course 😁
  2. You can have the tort PG from the recent PJ addition to my herd (it's my "active Yammy BB") - I'm already fancying something a bit different and a bit less...er well...less tort 😁
  3. Cheers dB. Well I'm starting to get the hang of the VTDI and have found a couple of excellent clean settings which are likely to feature as an 'always on'. Not found my drive tone on this just yet, but still early days, although one of the sample drive settings is not too shabby at all. I think it's going to render my SA Aftershock obsolete, although that will probably be worth keeping as a drive multi-fx jack-of-all-dirt but master of none, but the jury's out on whether it's going to trump the Grizzly Bass (although I know you never liked that one!) as a drive pedal. Interestingly the VTDI has a similar couple of interacting dials similar to the Grizzly: the Character & Drive on the VTDI and Overdrive & Distortion on the Grizzly, and the 'magic' on both pedals is tied up with how these two play off each other. As a clean pre-amp I think the VTDI wins fairly easily for me with its 3 band vs 2 band EQ on the Grizzly, plus its 'bite' button which adds 'presence' via a upper mids and treble boost plus an HPF to tighten up the sound. If you've got a custom setting for your VTDI for your drive that you feel nails it for you, please feel free to share! Apologies to the OP for the slight thread diversion (but at least it's in keeping with the thread title 😁)
  4. If you don't fancy spending £25 on a lead then these standard Fender leads, whilst not as good as the ones Frank is recommending, cost just £10 and have been just fine.
  5. Haha - fair point! So it's the best £25 if you want a 5M black one.
  6. So if the polish you recommended was the best £10 we will ever spend (other than on a box of mini Magnum choc ices, of course!) is this going to be the best £16.68 we ever spend? Thanks for that tip off Frank - will need to get straight silent jacks for my Ibbys due to the recessed jack sockets, but angled ones should work for the rest, for those times we're not going wireless off course! Can't wait to find out what the best £25 spend is gonna be 😁
  7. Just found the Sad I want in the finish I'm after... trouble is Tyler beat me to it by 8 months! (Feel free to treat this as a wanted ad 😉) P tone at 04.00 sounds great - you've got a real treat @bassfan incoming.
  8. Ah, I see. Other than that one finishing touch, it's come out really well!
  9. Good job!! 👍 Are those the original knobs? Just wondering whether a more trad black and white would sit better with the black pups and your PG?
  10. Yup but currently on furlough (together with the SA Aftershock and various non drive pedals), having rationalised my pedals onto two 'usable' smaller boards.
  11. Must admit I'm lazy when it comes to cables. With everything else that you spend your time getting your head around on the gear front, I just enjoy not having to give too much thought and also being able to support my local music stores (lockdowns permitting!) and picking up a cable if I need one from them.
  12. Another convert here to the school of VTDI. But I understand dB you may be about to switch allegiance after a decade to the Leeds! @Stub Mandrel enjoy the Mojomojo. I thought it did a very decent job, particularly in preserving low end.
  13. This ^^. But get 9v rechargeables anyway - it will save you cash in the long run
  14. Good question! For my wired cans (I've got a separate set of wireless, but don't use that with my bass gear due to latency issues, although they're great otherwise), I've been very happy with my Audio Technica ATH Pro700 Mk2. I bought them and it was just over 6 years ago, so I've managed to get my money's worth, and they're still going strong! High quality bit of kit and I remember at the time wanting to make sure they had a decent low end response which they have indeed got. Just checked - this particular model has been discontinued, but the brand seems to be a good one.
  15. Aww sorry to hear.
  16. Better than a box of Magnum mini choc ices?
  17. I started by using my strap set a bit shorter to compensate for the fact the strap button is not at the bottom of the body but part way around, which I guess would equate to your shorter strap. Didn't find it comfortable at all! Went back to full length strap and hey presto, much more comfortable to wear. So I would recommend trying a longer strap.
  18. In terms of polish, the one that @Frank Blank recommended in this thread:
  19. Slap patch II Can use with dual comp off or on. Although it's a bit 'noisier' with dual comp on, that's my default setting for this patch - it just seems to work better for slap. I've not worked out how to save patches onto my PC for sharing with the Zoom software yet, having just started using it this evening (very straightforward saving patches to PC on ToneLib, but not sure whether even possible with the Zoom editing software - so please do share if you have already sorted out how to do this) - but it does make doing a screenshot of the whole patch a doddle!
  20. @Bafflegab - that's interesting (and a shame). Do you have the B1X-4 or the B1-4? I'm using the ToneLib software - wonder if there's an issue uploading to Zoom Guitar Lab because of that? I'm going to have a go uploading my patches using the Zoom software (and see if that is also the fix for Stewblack's patch for me) and if that doesn't work for you, I'll go down the old fashioned screenshot route. In the meantime, could you see if you can upload Stewblack's patch that he uploaded for us a few posts back and see if that works on yours (it didn't on mine - maybe the Zoom vs ToneLib issue again)?
  21. Those really are three very tasty basses!
  22. Hey welcome to Basschat! Come on then, get some pics of your Spectors up so that we can while away a few lockdown hours quietly admiring! Are you playing yours in a full band and what's the rest of your rig you're playing it through?
  23. I thought you were going to offer to £325? 😁
  24. Put it down to the virus mate. Normal service will be resumed shortly. And no, I'm not referring to the size of that diddy fretboard. On the plus side Walshy doesn't hold on to most of his gear for more than 38 seconds so it should be appearing in the FS for a good price very shortly. Damn that word again...
  25. Btw - did we just catch you giggling at the size of bloke's fretboard?! It's really not going to help his stage presence is it? 🤣
