Does that still apply if you're colour blind ? -

Never intended to collect them all but once I realised I'd 18 of the 24 different models it seemed daft to stop. Course I stuffed now, sell one and I may as well sell the lot. The drop from complete to nearly complete is a big step π -

Things were cramped in the old house so wall hangers and racks were used, the new place is much bigger π 4 x racks of 7 + 10 tripod stands in the living room, 2 are kept propped against the couch within arm's reach. Spare room hosts another 4 x 7 racks, basses unused for ages like my Curbow,Dano and Bass Collection live in gigbags in the wee cupboard. Only 51 Peaveys in this photo. I blame the double bass π Happened at Xmas, Wunjos kindly swapped the Sub by SBMM for a GK Plex instead. -

Got 54 Peavey basses,at least one of every model but not every variation within each series. That's definitely classed as a collection and it's fairly well known among Peavey people. Because of that I get messages from folks all over looking for info or advice, sometimes I put buyers/sellers in touch. Mostly found playing a Harley Benton PB-50 π -
Excellent choice π I picked up a Squier telecaster bass body last weekend, almost did a wee dance when I saw the huge pickup cavity. Do I fit a mudbucker ? a split P-humbucker ? Nope. Warman jazzbar is the perfect size and arrived todayπ Shame I've a few weeks yet before the rest of the parts arriveβΉοΈ

Another Caline 5 user here. I've 3 boards set up and a Caline is cable tied to each one.

The Queers played a fantastic gig in Audio,Glasgow. TIny venue and only about 60 folk in attendance. No matter the lads were on form and battered out a high energy set. Caught the 2nd support act, The Attack. Very impressed, maybe 2 dozen in the crowd but they delivered the goods π Both will go down a storm at Rebellion next week π

Thanks Andy. Maple is the way to go, just need a spare 21 fret one π

How far over the edge did you get ? My attempt to get to the back edge met with disaster πVinyl was too tight between upper horn and bout, had the same trouble between the horns and the neck pocket. Icing on the cake came when I trimmed off the excess vinyl, heat from the hair dryer had slackened the grip of the spray lacquer. It peeled off with the vinyl π€¬ππ€¬ That wont happen with a pro poly finish π

What are you listening to right now?

Cooper, lots of Alice Cooper . Sticking to the albums from the heavy alcohol/drug years π± -
@BrunoBass With the 1st templates I did,You didn't even need to line them up π Plan was the run round it with a router and flush trimmer cutter. Once it dawned on me nobody was using a router the next batch I sent out were just cut vinyl π

Naw. Take a grinder to the bridge base plate instead. Sparks, scorch marks, risk of injury etc. Much more fun π

Don't forget stripping, painting, stripping again, painting again changes the body's thickness. When I fitted the bridge to the pink torpedo bass it sat too low for the neck. Had to router the neck pocket deeper. Stripping and sanding could knock 3mm off the body, imagine the effect a 3mm shim would have if dropped in the pocket π±

Not really sure if the Faker 5 is right for me π Long term abuser of flats/tapes have me struggling with the twangy sound. Must be the roundwounds as the low tension is another gripe. Oh and I've got to mention the pickup cover getting in the way too π Thought my next post here would be a call for advice on bridges, a 5 string jobbie wide enough to cover the inserts of the MM type bridge used on many fakers. So how do I kill most of the twang, tighten up the tension, get a shorter pickup cover (don't mind it but it's too tall). I've a set of Sadowsky blue label flats so hopefully they'll kill 2 birds.

Aye. It was the Mike Dirnt shape. Looked to the same to me too π @b7l4s Do a series of straight cuts getting as near to the lines rather than try to cut the curves in one go. You can clean the wee peaks and troughs up with a rasp.

Paul had some strings for grabs on Monday. Doubt 48 hour passed from me asking to buy them to the Royal Mail popping them through the letterbox π Top fella .

They rarely line up perfectly. It's rare to see a jazz or PJ line up either,no matter the brand. My last one had the bigger bridge and the centre of E string was 8mm from the centre of the E pickup pole. That was way too much, playing with fingers pulled the string out of the magnetic field. Neither the Herrick nor the Bloodstone line up perfectly on their PB-50s,it's just a trade off between bridge, pickup placement and nut width. You could get a plain cover for the pickup, out of sight / out of mind π

Popped a few notes up on Soundcloud. Bit of a change for me this playing roundwounds and my tinnitus ears can't tell much difference between the coils.Common sense tells me there shouldn't be any with them being right next to each other. Tone pot isn't doing much either but with the pickup so near the bridge I'll get more variation changing playing position π

What a difference 2 hour makes. For the T40 neck to work the bridge needs moved, or the springs round the machine screws binned. Can't wind the saddles back far enough to intonate properly π€¬
