3.
YES Ive got kids. Seriously the wombles tunes are good, he wrote bright eyes, which Art Garfunkle took to No 1, as well as writing songs for other artists
that's such a lame xcuse bumnote i've obviously entered the dark side of BC here and i think i need to get out sharpish, and 'the wombles tunes are good' .... so what's your favourite before i go?

6.
I saw them (nearly) in 1974 at Withdean Stadium in Brighton The whole natural amphitheatre of the place was covered in kids sat with mums and dads. The Wombles wombled on out, got about halfway down the middle of the atheltics 'field' (the pitch as used by Brighton and Hove Albion for the last few years). They all looked very happy, waving at us on the surrounding grassy hillocks. As one there was a moaning squeeling roar of delight from the yoof who were present as we all rose to our feet and ran pell mell at them, dunno why we did, but we did, just trying to get some Madame Cholet fur to show our mates at school or something. Honestly it was like a feral tidal wave of kids with the destructive power of 3000 of the little buggers, or one Japanese tidal wave. The poor sods in their suits did what any of us would do in the same situation nowadays, they turned as one and ran howling back into their dressing room under the stand (the one that had Zoo on it from the days when Withdean Stadium was actually Brighton Zoo). Happy days!!
yeah, yeah, but???? would you pay/want to see them at Glastonbury? now! really!!!
7. your a brave man mrtcat , many before you have fallen along the way i had apair of Omni 10.5's way back (can't remember who built them? he was on the Finnbass forum) GREAT cabs
8. ok i'll start it off.... decisions like these are down to old timers, prescription drugs, or a sad combo of the two WTF hey, how SAD has Glastonbury become, cannot believe the thinking behind this, the f***in wombles playing at the biggest rock festival on the planet beggars believe? is there a Glastonbury forum? gotta watch this one... Eavis has probably just got the rights to sell all the f***in Wombles merchandise, wotatosser
9.
So I should use a slight dab of overdrive on my double bass??? crazy, but that's just more reason to try it Should I be roughly shooting for a sound that sounds only slightly distorted when playing solo? A sound clip example of a distorted/compressed bass first solo then playing w/ the band would be great if someone can put one up.
+1, how about using an MXR80 or such?
10. night passage aint bad either

15. i really think you have to get into playing Jaco's stuff to GET what he was all about, WELL worth the journey it'll take you on, even if you dont like 'Jazz'
16. wrong forum i know but anyone out there know of a good Piano/Hammond player? West Coast/Jump/Chicago Blues/R&B/Boogie Woogie London/South East gigs
17. whatever you send to FOH will cause problems if it comes back in the monitors that are near to you
18. i've always read that 'gain staging' (low input level and high master level) is the best way to get high volume with low feedback in order to cut through the mix
19. Ikea do a folding stool for around £15
20. never been a big fan of Queen but their Live Aid show must be the best 20mins of live Rock n Roll your ever gonna see or hear
21.
Yeah, I think there is an unhealthy fixation with getting this bass, getting that rig trying every conceivable combination in the search for "that sound", when, in most cases, the player would do better looking closer to home. Yer Palladino's and Di Piazza's etc are quite happy to turn up and plug into anything available...me too!
+1 way too many players constantly 'listen' to themselves instead of 'playing'
22. this from another forum in reply to members commenting on great tone... "The show was a bit of a ball-ache as It was a hire Bass provided just for that gig, I was supposed to have had it a few days to adjust etc but it only arrived 4 hours before the gig, It was a pretty piss-poor Bass too, this is why I'm not certain of what I was using, I haven't seen it all yet, I must say thankyou for the comments on my tone but on this occasion I think it was the soundguys that were to thank" great tone sometimes has NOTHING to do with the guy who's playing, or his gear
23. John Entwistle reckoned his Fenders sounded better with pup covers on, they become magnetised over the years apparently
24. keep it comin folks
25.
38 posts and you got there. Good luck. Garry
it's the journey not the arriving whatever...
