seems they shrunk the scratchplate to fit the contoured round edges on the horns of the 54 Precisions. the reisuue plates are for slab 51's and cant be modified as the screw holes are too near the edge, BUGGA so, can anyone on here make me one?

did Fender even ship early guitars with straps? has your strap any logos on KiOgan?

is there any difference between a 51 & 54 Precision scratchplate?

cherrs twigman, anyone know what i need to put underneath the pup? some foam or similar? this is a 51 P pup

thx Johnston, just found the copper tape on ebay, around £4 a roll, that's real cheap for copper. how many rolls did you get through on the Mike Dirnt? i take it it's a P bass?

what's in the black paint? is it liquid lead?

my upright has no 'ground' wire to the strings, unlike an electric. it earths though the amp and second wire like you say. i recently saw a guy play a P bass and he had taken the volume and tone pots out of the bass, pup went straight to his amp, no problems and he prefered the tone, sounded good to me too. as copper and paint sound a pain i think i'm gonna try it without first

i thought earthing on amps would take care of hum and such like these days, i use a magnetic pup on a double bass with NO earthing, pup goes straight to the amp and it's as quiet as a mouse

this is on a 51 P bass, so, lo tech analogue circuit, do i really need to shied it all?

what's best to use in the pickup and control cavities? i've seen coppper tape and black screening (not sure what that stuff is?)
