  1. In these troubled times we need to entertain ourselves with some frivolous chat. So, what’s the bass you pick up and noodle on to practice & write? Here’s mine, a MM Jap jazz with an East implant.
  2. Just purchased an SLB100 from Dan. He also threw in a stand and psu. Easy relaxed purchase, even from Surrey.
  3. I’m using a PJB BG400 and have the extension cab as well. I’ve found the pickup & preamp to be more important though. I’m now on a DG copperhead and a tonebone pz pre.
  4. Our new single on Spotify..... Featuring my double bass !!
  5. Last night I tried passing the DG into my Radial Bassbone (which is on my electric bass peddle board). Instant success. Louder, no distortion and much better presented frequency profile. It’s not often an upright player finally gets to push a sax player through the wall using sound pressure!!!
  6. I use a Broughton HPF set to about 50Hz. I guess I’m seeing high vols well above that setting given the preamp settings I’m adopting.
  7. I’ve just started using a DG copperhead and find the low bass frequencies produced are dramatically higher volume than the upper mids & treble. So my pre amp has the lowest two bands set down at about 25%, where as the rest are flat. Without this I get horrible distortion in the amp. Does this seem familiar?
  8. This might do the trick .... http://www.contrabass.co.uk/2675.htm Or this https://www.musicalchairs.info/sales/10890?ref=22
  9. I use a Headway EDB 2 as a preamp on my double bass, with a TC spectracomp in front of it. The notch filter drastically reduces acoustic feedback, the TC ensures a much more even tone from the bass. About £300 for the pair.
  10. Looks like we are now an artist in our own right on Spotify. 5 tracks to enjoy.... Hope you can have a listen.
  11. Our single from an EP on Spotify. Unfortunately the same name is used by another act, so pictures with Maddy on are ours - others are not.
  12. Liked this, good video. Felt the vocals were a touch over powered by the guitar at times. Great drummer, we have one like that ; )
  13. I’ve been told by a luthier that hires basses out to top orchestras that they come back with pencil marks all over them! I used a tip-ex pen to put dots on.
  14. Prior to getting my upright, I was using a 705srf with black nylon labellas. Using just the piezo it does a very good upright impression.
  15. I can vouch for Malcolm Healey as well. He ‘breathed’ on my cheap laminate and transformed it.
  16. And SOLD
  17. On Hold .....
  18. Would trade for a Jaguar or Precision 5er?
  19. Selling a combo I just don't use these days. It did a few small gigs a couple of years back, but I've been using a different rig for a while now. It's in good condition and all works. I added some castors for ease of transport. As you can see from the front panel, it has a lot of gismos. Pick up only, located near Leatherhead (Surrey). These were over £700 when new, but yours for £250.
  20. Have a look at the Sight Reading Simplified for bass book if you’re learning to read as well. It’s presented as an electric bass book but that’s irrelevant. I find getting the timing right on reading the hardest, and the sound clips you can download make this much easier to grasp.
  21. Just while i’m Browsing this, my tutor has recommended this. https://www.kcstrings.com/bass-buggie/ I have one one the way, via a relation travelling over to save on the postage! (And order the cushion)
  22. Fantastic basses. Love mine.
  23. I originally owned this set. I’m a beginner but I could bow them.
  24. Thanks Joe. The bass is fantastic!
  25. Thank You!!
