  1. @binky_bass here you go …
  2. The SC Alembics are great. Interesting as they have a filter preamp. A more affordable and conventional one is the Chowny SWB, which is a very well made guitar (I have an Indian made one, the newer ones are reportedly even better). Very slim necks if you’re having hand issues. To get to the sound of the Alembic, a short scale filter preamp ACG nails it. Second hand they can be ridiculously undervalued.
  3. My new 30.5” ACG fretless has arrived this week. It’s amazing!
  4. And here it is next to its fretted twin. I’ll do an NBD post in due course.. but it’s amazing in the flesh.
  5. Enjoyment is imminent…
  6. I had a trans black one of these from the 80s until quite recently. A very nice bass indeed. £675 is a bargain imho.
  7. I had a pair of these made (which are very good) for a lot less than £1700 😉 https://www.musicianshearingservices.co.uk/what-we-do/in-ear-monitors/acs-in-ear-monitors/
  8. Blimey that’s a bargain. You’re going to be asked for string spacing as well as weight I expect.
  9. I have an SRay 5 HH and it’s an easy bass to play. As has been said, it’s 17.5mm and it’s 34”. Many 5ers are 35”. Don’t underestimate the impact of that on your hands. I’ve had a few Iby SRs, they are lightweight and mostly 16.5mm and 34”. They are a level easier on the hands than the SRay IMO. As an aside, I went to 5s. Now for anyone looking to do that I would say consider 6. 4 to 5 I found difficult. 5 to 6 seemed straight forward in comparison. I now play 6 with a 30.5” scale. Good Luck
  10. It certainly looks the part!
  11. Does anyone in the parish actually own an EU6? Just interested to see if one has even been purchased in the UK.
  12. Ahh, no, they don’t do flats. Which is a shame as I’d like some short flats myself. There’s a theme starting here …..
  13. https://newtonestrings.com/shop/custom-bass-string-configurator/?v=79cba1185463 this should sort you out.
  14. Great progress as the hardware has arrived.
  15. Looks like an excellent job, well done.
  16. Given this forum is the main one other than sales. An ACG thread would be justified.
  17. €1900 = £1622 ???

  19. just an idea, perhaps put a pre amp in it? https://acguitars.co.uk/project/046g-j-type-5-34
  20. NBD 30.5” Passive Made by @Lukasz Chyla of this parish. Exceptional for the money when you consider it’s handmade in the UK. Plays really well. And yes, it has a fabulous B. Not for sale.
  21. Posting here as not many views in the wanted forum. If anyone is looking to move one of these on at a reasonable price, or possibly a similar 5er, do please give me a shout. Full scale, not 34”. Thanks
  22. I had a PJB cub 100 for a while and that could be a monitor or enough for a small gig.
  23. Lovely looking thing, bet it plays nicely.
  24. Just a thought. I had an issue much the same. I was told it’s most likely the foot of the bridge is slightly offering an angle to the top face of the bass. This means you get a slight rattle’ in the bass/bridge/pickup interaction. If you can see it’s slightly out, perhaps sort that?
  25. Hmm… I use a k&k Bassmax pickup through a TC RH750 into a Vanderkley 112EXT, pitz. (I know the amp is theoretically too powerful, I turn it down). The output is indistinguishable from the bass to my ears.
