1. I genuinely hope that remains the case. I wouldn't wish back trouble on anyone.
2. Now that I can agree with easily!
3. Equally? I don't think so. Important, yes, but you can't argue with gravity. A 5Kg bass is still 5Kgs regardless of how well it balances, and it will exert the same pressure on your lower back etc.
4.
The bass was a perfectly reasonable weight (4.2kg/8.25lb) ...
You use local conversion rates in Swindon?
5. [Pedant] Actually not an 11 (= eleven) but a II (= Roman 2). [/Pedant]
6. Cauliflower.
7.
Klira? That's a new one on me.

8. I think the technology would need to take a step up for that to work in my case ...
9. You'll struggle to blend the pups until you source another pup to blend! Love it. I'm a Hofner man (with occasional excursions into Framus and Klira) but those Jolana basses do look the bizniz. I'll be interested to hear if it can be made to sound as good as it looks.
10. How do you know he plays Chic covers?
11. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-WEIGHLITE-TWO-REVOLUTION-ILLUMINATED-FACE-SCALES-MEASURE-Cap-32lb-/350699572756?hash=item51a752ce14
12. I have some wonderful amplification stuff in my studio including full-on valve (Matamp) and valve preamp (Demeter) plus top-end solid state power (Digam). I love the sound it all makes, and I love playing through it. Back in the real world of The King's Head and The Red Lion, Survival Studios and my own garage, my newly-acquired Tonehammer 350 (thanks Lozz) plus first-generation Barefaced Midget is more than adequate for anything I've done this year. Sad, but true. The Tonehammer weighs about as much as the book I'll be reading tonight. The Midget weighs more than my bass (in a gigbag), but only because I use very lightweight basses. YMMV
13. Understood, but just to emphasise the point that all I had to do was to plug the pedals in using reverse order. Putting the receiver & polarity inverter after the other pedals completed cured the ... erm ... issue. Now all I need to do is find a fuzz pedal that doesn't wreck the bottom end of my tone.
14. I don't know what you're driving at, young man, but I haven't reached three figures yet.
15.
Agreed. So I didn't.
Oops ... except accidentally at the end. I meant to call it an issue.
16.
I don't know if it's really fair to call it a problem of the product ...
Agreed. So I didn't.
17. Finally found an issue! I put the receiver on my Pedaltrain Nano and powered everything with a Diageo daisy chain thingy. Used the polarity reversal cable for the first time. As soon as I stomped on the fuzz pedal I got an irritating wow-wow-wow underneath the bass tone. Swopped the fuzz pedal for another and got exactly the same problem. After five minutes of frustrated pluggery, it occurred to me that I had the receiver (with polarity reverser) as the first unit in the Diageo daisy chain, i.e. the other pedals received their power after it had passed the Smoothound. Swopped the power around so that the receiver became the last in line and the problem went away.
18. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fender-1973-Precision-Bass-Sunburst-with-case-/131598183095?hash=item1ea3dceab7 I'm not good at this spot-the-fake-Fender lark, but that decal looks nothing like the (genuine) one on my '75/'76 Precision, plus the decal looks utterly crap anyway.
19. Just loved the comment "I've got the 69'er too, love it but for some gigs it's just not quite loud enough." What the hell sort of gigs is he playing!
20. Love that photo of the carton in the hall ...
21.
I'd have thought that the range of variables that can affect a wignal (or wireless signal, that was originally a typo but I like it so will stick with it) is far greater than that that can affect a cable?
Despatch? POB. Going to Kilburn. Is Vic there?
22. Guys, guys, guys, I have NO problem with those who haven't changed their avatar since Gordon Brown was PM (yes EBS_freak, I'm looking at you). My rant is reserved for those who establish their avatar over many years, and then throw me completely by changing it, usually to something completely unrelated. At least Douglas replaced one picture of himself drumming clean-shaven to another of him getting his sticks caught in his beard.
23. Raj, is there ANY high-end fretless you don't own?
24.
Sometimes it's amazing how simple some great sounding lines are when you get them back home
Agreed. Mind you, sometimes it's amazing how rubbish they sound when I play them.
25. All that time and effort spent matching up forum names to avatars, and in some cases even noting their real names, and then people go and change their bloody avatar! Why? What's wrong with you? Are you so bored that you could find nothing else to do today? We need a software update. Any avatar left unchanged for a year and a day should be autoconverted into an Avatar Tattoo that cannot be changed or amended without a long and expensive treatment. That'll show the bastards. ps: Just in case Dad3353 thought this might be aimed him, damned right it is! These are called smiley faces. They mean that there's no need for anyone to take this too seriously. On the other hand, it the cap fits ...
