1. I'm guessing the "fitted case" is designed to be fitted to a different bass.
2. Having just viewed that clip, it has to be said that the Beeb clearly did NOT do rhythm guitar ...
3. I've never yet managed to fall off the floor, no matter how much I've drunk.

6. I see you needed to take out a mortgage to buy the first ex-Entwistle Precision ...
7.
MB1. ....Spinal Tap play the Airforce Base anyone?
8. And I completely forgot to mention that the PA was a pair of Barefaced FR800s, which sounded absolutely lush.
9.
I've just bought one of these from Thomann. Well I've actually got two, thanks to my friends at ParcelFarce who managed to damage the first one, and unbox the second one Seems well built and sturdy for the money, and it has a retainer to prevent the bass from being accidentally knocked off the stand. https://m.thomann.de..._bass_stand.htm
I have one of those listed on eBay right now!

12. Silvie (Bluejay) and I were lucky enough to catch a rare London gig for 51m0n's band Mister Super Juice. They played The Village Inn at Castlebar Village (North Ealing) by invitation from the bongos-playing landlord. The crowd was small but very enthusiastic, this pub has no reputation as a music pub (it's a gastro) so some of the regulars deserted early, but plenty of passing trade came in and stayed when they heard how fine the band were. Loud, instrumental, 70s-style theme tune / cinematic funk, heavy on the brass - check out the trumpet player. The band is as tight as a gnat's tight thing, and the 3-piece rhythm section (four if you include the wah-wah guitar) drives things along very nicely. Silvie had her cameras and got busy. This track is Dragonfly. http://youtu.be/QrN4KaNC-gA
13. Bluejay & I were at The Village Inn in Ealing last night to hear 51m0n's band (Mr. Superjuice). Their PA is a pair of FR800s, though they have full backline too. The sound is undeniably very good indeed and I was well impressed. Only fair to point out that Si is a very competent sound engineer and they did a proper sound check an'all, so the band were definitely getting the best out of their rig.
14. A bump before settling down to a bit of eBaying tomorrow evening.
15.
I'm not a salsa player...I'm not sure why the baby bass gets pigeon-holed for that type of music, but I use it on all kinds of material.
The original Ampeg Baby Bass caught on in the Caribbean and Central America with salsa players and established itself as a must-have instrument. I don't know the sales figures, but it wouldn't surprise me to find that Ampeg sold more of these in the Caribbean than in all of the USA. It's also noticeable that the Baby Bass 'clone' industry seems to be centred in South America. Kris Kedzior got the idea of making high-quality copies like his after marrying a South American lady and being exposed to a variety of poor-quality copies.

18. Oh yes, that's going nowhere. Although I'm pretty sure it's a 64! I've also kept my 59 Sutcliffe 500/5 and my weird psychedelic 65 Club 500/2.
19.
Hmmmmm indeed, do you still have the Hofner ?
I've had a LOT of Hofners, just three of them left. Which did you have in mind?
20.
I don't need a motorbike. My other hobby is driving trains for a heritage railway. 266 Litre diesel engine this weekend
Yes, but does it have 'heft'? Are diesel litres the same as valve litres?
21.
76. I mucked out three stables this morning while the Mrs swanned round the lanes with a friend. Then I got the harrows out and put everything together and in the meantime mowed two lawns. Then before supper went round half the paddocks (8 acres) with the harrows. Gig tomorrow evening so I'll take it a bit easy. But don't let the above fool you, I'm really feeling old these days.
If you're doing 8 acres with the harrows at 76, it may be time you treated yourself to a tractor or something.
22. Hmmmmm. I don't know enough about EUB to answer that. Definitely an easy route into DB though.
23. Weight is slightly higher than I remembered, at a shade over 6lbs. Width of nut = 1.5", i.e. Jazz width.
24. Agreed, but you'll also notice that I'm not plucking (really hard) with the side of my fingers in quite the way that I'd pluck a DB. I'm not playing it like a fretless electric either, but the technique is a bit of a hybrid. Well, it is when I do it anyway.
