  1. The other way to stop a glass slipper is to ask Prince Charming to search all over town for it. Just saying ...
  2. Ohm my God, Watt's the matter with you all, is there no resistance to this sort of nonsense?
  3. I played this bass at NAMM last week - you'll just have to trust me when I say that the pickups are absolutely glorious, and this is the best Ric bass I've ever played (and I've owned a few, and not liked them at all). As to the "cheap Chinese knock off" comment, bizarrely I spent part of my time at NAMM (an entire day, as it happens) with someone who used to design & import exactly those basses. I won't name names since I have no idea if he'd be happy for me to do so. We both agreed that the new genuine Ric looked more like a 'fake' than his did! Regardless of that, I found that the look of the new pickups grew on me really fast, and I loved the sound of the things.
  4. Me, I'm a great believe in Cockup Theory over Conspiracy Theory. I think a trained monkey somewhere turned out to be slightly less trained than anticipated.
  5. In all fairness, that headstock is from a Warwick Triumph, which is a rather odd EUB.
  6. Bonus points if they're actually an expert on whatever subject has led to their pontification.
  7. I have absolutely no idea what any of that means. But I'm delighted to hear that they haven't been without a bass player for three years.
  8. Anyway, the value of all existing Barefaced cabs just went up on the pre-owned market, so everyone's a winner.
  9. The correct response would surely have been: "Funky? Don't know that one ... how does it go?".
  10. Is the logo on the headstock under the nitro. or is it an easily-removed waterslide?
  11. I feel very uncomfortable when the bus driver is wearing a tuxedo.
  12. "Rock/metal, jazz and country" pretty much translates as "I want to play anything I like on this bass", which is as it should be. In my experience, going to a show is completely futile if you want to try instruments properly, and trying lots of basses in a shop achieves nothing except confusion unless you know exactly what you're looking for. Big changes won't help you either. Switching between, say, Hofner and Warwick will teach you very little. What bass have you been playing as a beginner?
  13. But there's definitely an argument to be made that the sooner some you old fogeys graduate to pipe and slippers, the more opportunities there'll be for youngsters like me.
  14. Had to look up New Buckenham ... never heard of it. I'm guessing this thing weighs a ton?
  15. Sorry we didn't find any results for “Dean Michael Pearson SC/lummox12”. Check the spelling, or try a different search.
  16. If you want a 210 to match a Wizzy, a Fearful 210 might be a better choice than a Markbass. Not cheap though, at £1000. For just over half that, you could have a Crazy 88 instead ... but that ain't no 210 of course.
  17. If you like the Wizzy 12 then what's the attraction of adding a Markbass?
  18. Great bed-spread, though. You've got to admire that duvet cover. Why do the polepieces for the P not match the J - is it a trick of the light?
  19. Can't believe than no one has mentioned the Sue Ryder ...
  20. This one goes out to Blue(wine). Prior to this moment, the greatest event that previously occurred in Pismo Beach was getting a mention in a Bugs Bunny cartoon ("I knew I shoulda toined left at Albuquerque ...").
  21. February 14th? Decorate the stage with roses and give all the girls chocolate. Unless you're in Chicago, of course, in which case you line up the punters against a brick wall and mow them down with a tommy gun.
  22. You can change a set list?
  23. If something's worth saying ...
