1. I love fretless but I can't remember the last time I saw a classified ad asking for fretless player. It seems to have been deeply unfashionable for years now for bands to feature a fretless. I'm not talking about youtube virtuosos or niche prog just your regular bands.
2. RW is hilarious!
3. I love randy crawford
4.
Just found the pics I was looking for - I had a creamy white 32" scale non-export Aerodyne Jazz with 2 J pickups, black scratchplate and binding. Thing of beauty. Sold a while ago now, can't remember why.
Sweet

SOLD

Just had a play on it after leaving it in it's case for a while. This is an outstanding instrument that will make someone very happy.
6. I've just seen a vintage white one and the drool has appeared. If the sharp edge thing is surmountable I think I might be onto a winner here.
7.
FWIW, There is a blue Aerodyne Jazz in my local music shop. Never seen it in blue but it is stunning. See here: http://www.kennysmus...-blue-pre-owned I remember lusting after one when Duff McKagan started using them in Velvet Revolver.
That is a lovely colour!
8. Buy my Zon. Then you'll be alright! Seriously though, have you contacted the people you will be playing with and got any advice from them? They must be in the same boat (sorry, I couldn't resist)
9.
You need to play one to make sure you can live with the sharper edges as compared to the more traditional J bass.
That's what I'm talking about. I would never have guessed the edges were sharp.
10.
Our opinions are of little use
Hey, you're selling yourself short! I know what you mean but I was just looking for things that owners particularly like/dislike that you can only get from long term ownership. They seem to be a great solution to me but until I get chance to try one I thought I'd see what you guys think.
11. I love a jazz body with P/J setup and was just wondering about how these might be different to other variants on this theme. I.E. Does the basswood body give it a completely different tone? Looks wise I much prefer the non export colours to the all black even though that still looks cool. Any thoughts appreciated and thanks in advance.
12. That looks nice. In my neck of the woods as well.
13.
Keep and eye on the for sale sections on here - I bought mine, a VT bass which does the job perfectly from Colgraf (RIP) for £90 in it's original tin via an ad in the "effects for sale" section.
Will do, Thanks. Someone was raving about the VT clone that is available for pennies. Will do a bit of research.
14.
Unfortunately it doesn't work like that. The power amplifiers in the mixer will be driving the PA speakers. There will be no spare output to drive your cab.
Ah ok, got it. Thanks very much.
15.
Or get yourself a Sansamp DI and carry that instead so you can play through the PA. Even if it's just a small vocal PA as long as you keep the volume sensible you'll be fine, and even if you can't eq like you might like it will get you out of a hole and keep your gig going. Had to do this when had issues with my LM3 (which turned out to be a cable issue, now solved by buying some lovely cables from the previous poster - thanks Dave!), and could get going again in about 30 seconds with the kit to hand. Don't go anywhere without mine now.
good idea
16. It will have power as the singers will be using it so just thought I could hijack a spare channel and route the output to my speaker.
17. This might be daft so be kind. Just considering alternatives to carrying a backup head. This would be with a vocal pa so I would use the desk as my amp and take an out out from the desk into the bass cab in case of failure of the bass head. Does that make sense? and has anybody done this?
18. I sold my beloved '74 Ripper in times of hardship and promised myself that situation wouldn't happen again but times are tough at the moment so I wish you well. Some of these basses ARE more than a piece of wood especially the old ones that have often have led very interesting lives and would have many a story to tell if they could!
19.
Grab it before I buy another one.....
I really want to grab this one, But someone must first buy my Zon!
20. I may have mentioned it before but I was in a band where the drummer once tried to iron his trousers whilst still wearing them...
