1. Lady singer, big rock grooves influenced by Red Fang, Mastodon, Clutch, Black Angels etc: http://www.shipofgold.bandcamp.com
2. Thanks Neepheid, haven't looked at the Victory before, what's the nut width on them?
3. Twang and grunt are fine, what music do you play? Do you know how it in drop D?
4. Thanks for the link, really like the look of the cardinal bass anyone know what they're like?
5. Oh I like them! Troy from Mastodon plays a Yamaha which is good enough for me.
6. Firstly thanks for the replies! Not really a Stingray or Fender fan and can't afford the Wals/Alembics (the Westone Thunder is definitely nearer my price range!) Favourite bass is my Guild B301 so a Pilot is looking good at the moment, maybe an Ibanez Roadstar (always been a fan as was mad on Supergrass in my youth). The Arias look like they've got quite a thin neck? Also not too worried about it being an 'iconic 80s bass' as my 80s bass hero was playing a 70s EB3!
7. No worries re stuff for sale, just need some ideas for basses to look at/for!
8. Birthday coming up soon and was thinking of getting a bass from my year of birth to celebrate both of us getting this far. 80s basses are not my specialty so what have you got that was made in 1983?
9. FWIW the VM HH doesn't have all the switches, just pickup selector, tone and volume.
10. That thing is certainly witchcraft, think it gets the other 9v from another dimension.
11. Discovered last night that the Diago 9v to 18v adaptor stops the cheap Maplins 9v PSU squealing, which is nice!
12. Used a few different methods from all singing all dancing schaller (which were great) and everything in between but always end up going back to the Grolsch washers. Don't take the strap off so that's not a problem.
13.
For practice, just iPhone in, headphones out and again it's fantastic.
Sorry mate, just want to check - do you have a cab connected when you run it like that?
14. Andy sorted me out with a spare adaptor he had for a PSU. Excellent to deal with and quick postage, cheers Andy!
15. Going to try out one of these tomorrow, free chorus pedal dealio has swung it. Guessing if it's used as a headphone amp it doesn't need a speaker connected? Won't be able to afford a cabinet for another couple of months...
16. Had a rehearsal this weekend and the squeal is definitely gone - cheap Maplin PSU is back with the tuner. Will be interesting to see if there is a difference running it at 18v.
17. Ah cool give me a shout if you do have a spare one, won't be able to get it until I get paid but def interested!
18. I've been looking at teh Diago Micropower 9 funnily enough, looks good and if no squeal on 9v they do an adaptor which allows it to run at 18v.
19. Checked it last night. With a battery it's fine so is definitely the power supply which is awesome because I love this pedal!
20. Thanks for the replies Maplins adjustable voltage/polarity power supply, although when I tried running it 18v that was with a Maplins 18v power supply so pretty cheap in the big scheme of things. Will try it with a battery but pretty sure it still squeals with the tuner first - SFT is always engaged as I use it as a pre-amp rather than 'effect'.
21. So it's not massively loud in 9v but still there and 18v is completely unuseable. It's a high pitch squeal, @9v it can only be heard when no-one's playing but still annoying! Setup is Guild B301 (passive) - CatalinBread - Boss tuner - amp Have tried it on lots of different amps, all the same. Is there a mod that can be done to the circuit or would some sort of power conditioner get rid of it? Love the pedal and would be absolutely perfect if it wasn't for the noise.
22. That sounds good to me, used to practise to a click in a metal band I was in years ago, set a PA speaker on fire once!
23. Never done the whole pre-production before and it has really helped, would recommend it to anyone. Would have saved me time and money in the past on various projects! Was inspired by the Mastodon 'making of' DVDs that they do with their albums, and they definitely get it right in the studio! Makes so much sense nowadays where I can turn up at practise with my Macbook and 828 and it's instantly a recording session. Click wise it's the little bits like the intro to Mountain Mother where there's a slight stumble from the guitarist (my little bro!) and the bass break in Biting Point which is a bit wonky that annoy the balls off me every time I hear them. As I said our drummer is in another band where he plays live to a click and when I talked to him about recording he said 'hate playing to a click but love the end result'. What I think I'll do is get a click/guide done for these three and do a dry run with just the drums before we head to the studio, if it sounds too rigid we can do it live.
