1. Kinda nauseating isn't it? I'd do it for free but that's my choice, I'm not having it decided for me very much like yourself. I go to work to get paid, I'm not doing that for charity either. I just think there should be a bit more justification when someone expects a lot for very little, I may end up saying 'well if you want more people here, charge 90p a pint.' Or something.
2.
here in east sussex £250 is average, and we are a five piece so this is what happened to us, a pub asked us to play for a lower fee, given as we had never played in this pub before we all agreed on the proviso that there would be full paying gigs to follow, that's is not a problem she says we played the gig,pub was busy, people drinking and dancing and a good time was had by all guvner left at the end saying good job yadda yadda yadda nothing not a peep, for a few weeks always not there or busy ect ect, then right out off the blue last week I get a message would we like to play on boxing day, nice I thought,200 I am told only to find out later that day its 200 for the band so I automaticly say no way the drummer is the same the other guys say why not really I said are you that desperate,I for one wont be there, absolute insult then this big thing kicks off, about no budget ect ect,and they would not see that it is a piss take, the pub had a band cancel ect ect big band meeting me I am the bad guy,ut no I aint doing it they can if they want to, I have said get a dep in, they then said don't I know how much that will cost rest my case enjoy the gig guys funnily enough not heard anything since hey ho
I'd have done the exact same. Yes a gig is still a gig and I'm grateful to play to people but you definitely did the right thing here.
3.
We agree a fee of £75 each wherever we play. Perhaps pubs up here are a bit more willing to pay that because we're much more rural and bands have to drive further to get there. Leaving home at 6-7pm, getting home at anywhere between 2-4am, that's between £7.50 - £10 an hour for your evening's work. To say nothing of gear expenses. We don't have a gig that's local to all of us - so if a venue won't cough, we don't go. None of us are desperate for the cash, and we've found that venues that haggle over 50 quid usually come complete with a bad attitude and/or bad punters.
I agree. If there's a faff or an issue about this kinda thing I go straight to 'no'
4. Cool! TBH I love drums, I took bass up partly due to DLR's first album and partly due to my Mum refusing drums. Bass is drumming but with a pitch, to me at least. Well done mate!
5. Excellent bunch of answers! It's exactly what I wanted and a big yes to 210 being absolutely fine, my only, well, main query was I had thoughts that we were accepting too little, it's a work in progress I guess. We're doing a promo vid very soon so I'll post it here, and tell us what you all think. We have lights, backdrop and PA, it's a full thing we take. Cheers everyone:)
6. As far as what someone is willing to pay, if it's 210 then the chances are I don't feel safe taking decent expensive gear in, so my thoughts have gone straight to we are playing the wrong place to start with. Management/agents are an answer but I'd sooner be self contained and use my own nouse. Watch this space I guess :/
7. The gigs are covers, generally decent singalong beefy stuff and I've encouraged a more eclectic mix so we've more choice, and therefore opening new doors. Baby steps but confident baby steps. We're now about to do a promo vid to push us along - to me it'll be worth it so I guess we'll find out soon.
8. Hello everyone, This question is purely to ask for your take on what fee should be expected, I'm not prying or wanting an argument to follow. Basically, I moved to the NE and play bass in a 3 piece, the band performs well, PA, backdrop in place - nothing lacks. I joined 6 months ago or thereabouts, the charge no matter where we play is £210 which to me, is not good at all. I'm mid causing a little turmoil as I'm either in charge, playing the right places or I'm leaving and getting into a band that values itself, I'd prefer the former. Opinions please! Thank you, Lee
9. What's that thing called in the road...a bump? Yes, a bump.
10. Ah thank you, it is the HP - I hadn't realised I'd done that on Gumtree:/ Cheers mate.
11. I'm selling one of my amps, I've been using three of these live. Full working order, a few obvious scuffs as you end up with. Comes with castors, and a lot of grunt. Collection from Newcastle area, any further pictures wanted please ask. Cheers, Lee.
12. Very obliged to leave feedback for this chap, we had a gentleman's agreement and he kindly sold me his EBS pedal after hanging fire for my payday. Top chap! Lee.

14. Just alerted someone on FB about this. If I didn't have 3 Ampegs already..!
15. http://dai.ly/x45wfuo YouTube refused to let this one in!?
16. Hi mate yes I do - I've heard of this Y cable but never used the loop at all so far. Thank you for this Lewis, you're a star
17. YouTube kept refusing this and I've no idea why? Anyway, I wanted to do this as the album got me into bass playing. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x45wfuo_yankee-rose-bass-cover_music
18. So... I'll try not to sound like a total half wit....! I currently use two BA115HP's, my bass has two jacks so job's a good un. One's clean, the split P into the EBS Sheehan. Now, I've just got into a band that recently got rid of the bass bins, apparently too loud/too much/not enough vehicle space and I'm thinking of adding one more BA (honestly) as I love the sound, compact etc. If I did get a third, as opposed to going the ABY pedal route, could I utilise the loop on the EBS as a straight through for another woofer channel? The distortion is very loud, very noticeable and feel I need to up the low end somewhat as like I mentioned, all the low end is purely coming from me. Christ, I wish I played a harmonica - way cheaper. Cheers for reading, Lee.

21. Hi matey, is this much bigger than the Gigman? Only asking as I've just three pedals and a mains brick, do you think it'd be too big?
