1. Bump - Will consider offers. Let me know if you're interested.
2. Limelight 1962-Spec Precision Bass. I think this is one of the earlier Limelights (due to the headstock having “that” logo) and I bought it direct around 4 years ago. Neck is quite chunky. Tuners are reverse. Virtually no fret fret wear at all due to flats. Chrome bridge/pickup covers are also included but not pictured. Sounds exactly as it should. Strung with LaBella “Deep Talkin” Flatwounds (£50 a set on their own). A proper “Motown Machine” that will make you sound just like Jamerson! The only thing I have changed on this is the saddles. The original threaded ones were just too (ahem) "reliced" so I replaced them (and the grubs & screws) with solid brass. I can include a deluxe thomann gig bag if you need one. Cash on collection only from Nottingham (near M1/J26). I also travel to Birmingham New St. station (almost) daily and am happy to meet at lunchtime or before/after work if this is of use to a potential buyer. No trades on this one thanks as I am thinning the heard (so to speak). Sometimes, I do not receive notifications so if you do reply, please let me know you have done so by direct email (my username @hotmail.com) or text on 07989952656 and I will reply on this site as soon as possible. Thanks.
3. That's just too tempting (seeing as I have the matching Limelight P)!

6. Ok so this time, I took a close up from the actual book rather than google. I'm still convinced it's a slab!
7. Ok, as far as I'm aware, the "Slab" P Basses were exclusive to the UK yet, whilst browsing the book "American Music" by Annie Leibovitz, I stumbled upon an interesting image. On page 82, there is an image of a blues player named Johnnie Billington. Taken in 2001, this image shows him with some of his students at his blues school. The young bass player is clearly playing a slab-bodied p bass with a gold anodised pickguard. I've attached a copy found on Google which is a little hazy but in the book, you can clearly see the slab body! Of course, it could be retrofit or even one of our 66's that may have found its way over the pond but I just thought it looked interesting.
8. I have a set of these for exactly that purpose and they've been excellent: http://www.musicgeardirect.co.uk/headphones-565/shure-srh240a-headphones
9. Have decided to re-list this as it's just not getting the use it deserves. Please see link to the original thread (now locked). http://basschat.co.u...ockUserAgent__1 All details are the same except it is now strung with D'Addario 40-100 rounds and the plastic film has been removed from the pickguard. Really nice bass for the money. Prefer not to post due to the fact it only comes in a gig bag but am flexible on half-way meet ups etc. Any questions, please ask.
10. Greetings also from Nottingham! One thing I’ve always found with these types of strap-locks (assuming that it’s the “Schaller” type that most Fenders come with these days) is that the hole in the strap needs to be wide enough to accommodate the enlarged threaded part of the strap lock. If it is just standard size, the strap creates too much friction and loosens the nut(s). This is why companies who make more expensive straps (like Heistercamp for example), give you the option of larger holes for use with this type of lock. A good hardware store (or even better, a “proper” saddlery) will usually have a large hole-punch to do this job and charge you pennies for doing it. I’ve also done it myself using an offcut of appropriately-sized copper pipe and hammered it through the leather onto a chopping board. I’ve also done it with a cordless drill but that tends to fray it a little. If your strap is only a very cheap one, the chances are that the ends of the strap won’t be proper leather and so won’t take the widening so you might need to replace your strap.
11. Cheers Bigwan - They were my thoughts exactly but I wanted to ask around on here before I attempted it. Just recently changed strings on a Sandberg and the neck relief has obviously changed with it nut wondered if this was a way of getting a more “accurate” measurement.
12. Hi, it is definitely a big, full-fat Precision-Style neck. I also use a variation of tones but tend to use volume "just back" from fully on and tone "just forward" from fully off! Will happily measure the nut width for you later when I'm home.
13. Bit of an odd question I guess but hoping someone on here might be able to help. When setting up basses, the usual protocol (as we all know) is to place a capo at the first fret, use your right hand to fret the low string at the point where the neck/body join, measure half way down (usually the 7[sup]th[/sup] fret) and use a feeler gauge etc… The question is: If a bass has a “Zero” fret, do we count this as the first fret and measure from there or do we still fret at the (regular) “first” fret and proceed as normal? Thanks in advance, Stevie
14. Congratulations on a great-looking bass. I am really feeling the love for my own Limelight at the moment! It was sold to me as a ’63 replica but I think the neck profile is more like a ’59 as it’s quite big & chunky. It’s now got brass saddles and has had chrome bridge/pickup covers added. It’s also currently strung with LaBella flats and sounds nothing short of monstrous (in a smooth kind of way). It's a proper Motown machine!!!
15. My brother is a drummer and he is so laid back, he's practically lying down. Having said that, I once worked with one who "could not eat bread while he was outside"! Apparently, it stemmed from “a bad experience with a seagull” when he was a young lad!
16.
P with flats, Jazz with rounds...
This!
17. Up for sale is my Harley Benton HBW-80 amp. Initially, I bought the much smaller 35w 1x10 version of this combo but there was a fault and when I returned it, Thomann said the fault was in the entire batch and they were recalling them so they sent this as a "free upgrade". Selling because my practice space is just that bit too tight for this so have replaced with something much smaller. For the money, it sounds great & has built-in limiter and chorus effect. Good for practice in the house or I suspect loud enough for a moderate rehearsal with a (not too enthusiastic) drummer etc. Due to its wedge design - I guess it would also be a cost-effective personal monitor for on stage use. There's a small scuff on one of the metal corners but otherwise, save for a bit of dust, excellent condition. Collection only due to size and shape - Nottingham based - 5 mins from M1/J26
