1. Gutted it got blowtorched - I've been after one of these for about a year now. I've seen three P bass versions but not one jazz.
2. Bournemouth - I could try a local luthier but didn't know if there was anyone on here that specialises in stuff and has a good reputation.
3. Anybody know a contact who can make me a nut - it would be for a 5 string bass requiring EADGC tuning.
4. Hm those standards look interesting - and very good value too.
5. This post cannot be displayed because it is in a forum which requires at least 1 post to view.
6. Can anyone recommend a 5 or 6 string, 24 fret jazz style bass up to £1500?
7. This is the one you sold right? http://www.bassgear.co.uk/product/fodera-emperor-custom/
8.
In answer to the original question - it would definitely seem that some people think so. We've had a 'run' on them at the shop since this thread started and we have sold a new Emperor Standard 5, a pre-owned Emperor Custom 4, sorted an order for a new Matt Garrison Standard 5 and it looks like an Emperor Custom 5 is going through as well!
I liked the Emperor 4 custom you had - well, I liked the way it looked anyway - had it been a 5 or a 6, I'd have been interested in that one. I would like to try a Fodera but I'd only go second hand because of the amount of money I'd lose when I moved it on. And I'm 99% sure I would move it on eventually - all but two of my basses have been sold on in the end.
9. I wouldn't bother with them to be honest, especially as like me too, you admit you've always been a bit of a snob.
10.
You'd still get hit for Import Duty and VAT bringing it in yourself, though...what you're saving is the shipping element.
You'd only get hit with import duty/VAT if you declared it or got caught though right?
11. Ah shame about the Rotosounds. They're my go to standard strings. I had the exact bass you've got and will get that exact one again. Sunburst/rosewood - perfect.
12. I love your Jazz dude. I think I'm definitely getting another one now!
13. Does anyone have or know anyone who has got a Steve Bailey Fender Jazz Bass? Wow! http://s971.photobucket.com/user/b24mz/media/IMG_1278.jpg.html
14. I love my passive Jazz Basses but I reckon a lot of that is because I've used them since I started playing 20 odd years ago and they feel so comfortable and familiar. I had a Stingray for about a year when I was in a three piece band and the sound was enormous - I couldn't believe how powerful it was in comparison to my Jazz - but as soon as that band disbanded and I was playing in four/five+ pieces again I sold it and went back to using my Jazz for everything. Personally, I don't reckon that the Behringer will give you anything like the full fat bottom end that you're used to with your Stingray - I've never been able to get massive bottom end with any single coil pickup basses I've had. Interestingly, reading your latest comments dude, I wouldn't be at all surprised if you eventually do what I did, just the other way round if you know what I mean... move on your Jazz for a another tried, trusted and loved Stingray.
15. If you could only have one. A Fodera or a Smith, which would you go for?
16. Also molan, have you played a Ken Smith? If yes, how do they compare?
17. Wow stunning. I remember salivating over that when they posted it on Facebook.
18.
What would right minded bass players think of someone who owns a Fodera but can't play very well?
That is exactly what I'd be if I bought one...
