My newly acquired 6-string Fender Jazz Bass...
2.
Thanks for that Is that a hercules one as well? I think I've got one of those in the depths of the cupboard somewhere, I'll dig it out and see if it fits.
Yeah it's a Hercules - here we are...
3.
I didn't notice that, because I'm middle-class...
Cheers gents... I'm running a little low though - now I've got the bass situation sorted, I'd better get a couple of new bottles in - they're a lot easier to smuggle past the wife!
4.
I only found out these even existed a couple of weeks back... how does it play / sound? Also, as a side note... does that fit in your stand properly? I've got a K&M stand that holds the basses from the neck that isnt wide enough for six string necks, also the mini hercules one I have has the upturns at the front of the feet at just the wrong angle for my wal as its right on one of the knobs. I could do with a suitable stand...
Yeah it doesn't fit in that other stand properly. Thankfully, I actually got a new stand, a double one to take the 4 and 6 stringers - it fits alright in this stand - check it out... 5. New bass day 2 of 2: It has just arrived... here is my 2009 model Fender American Steve Bailey 6-string Jazz Bass that I purchased from Vilem (william64). I've never bought a signature bass before, bit of a pet hate to be honest, but this is the only 6-string extended range bass that Fender make so I've been looking out for one since 2012. I can't wait to get started on this bass...

I bought a Fender Jazz Bass Steve Bailey 6-string from Vilem. Great communication and photographs of the packing process sent to me throughout... really incredibly well packed - it took me 20 minutes to get to the bass. Highly recommended and would 100% deal with again - top man.
7. New (reunited) bass day 1 of 2: Here is my 2013 model Fender American Standard Jazz Bass that I originally bought brand new back in December 2013 and having only really used it as a studio bass, I naively chose to sell it on in October 2014. Thankfully Nick (Old Horse Murphy) contacted me earlier this month and very kindly offered me first refusal to buy it back. I didn't hesitate, it's a superb bass and I'm extremely pleased to have it back... My second acquisition is due later on today... I'm quite excited
8. I bought a Markbass Compressore in the end - waiting for it to arrive now... I'll have a good play around but I've been experimenting with using light finger plucking while also using an EBow so I feel like I definitely need some sort of compressor/limiter to prevent the EBow sounds overbearing the finger plucked loops... only time will tell once it's here
9. I reckon you should keep it mate! For me you can't beat the the new design U.S. Standard Fender Jazz Basses
10. Ahhhhhhhhhhhh.... Interesting!!! How are you finding your Jazz? Looks a beaut!
11. Would you have to carve up the bass at all to get a pre-amp into it? I'm sure Fender could do the 60s versions for the 5!
12.
They come as stock in new USA standard jazz basses but mine doesn't have them as the five string version doesn't get them
Yes that's out of order really isn't it? My 4 sounds awesome with them. Have you thought about the Aguilar hum cancelling pickups as replacements?
13. ...bought back the 2013 Fender Jazz Bass I sold to Nick last month! Super fast delivery, and as usual, great communication once again... I'm so pleased I have this bass back!
14. Sold my 2013 Fender Jazz Bass to Nick. Super fast payment and great communication throughout.
15. Ambient messaged me a rather superb resource... http://www.ovnilab.com/
16. What recommendations do you guys have?
17. In December 2013 I went into Absolute Music in Poole and bought a new 2013 US Standard Fender Jazz that they had there in stock - I didn't really think too much about it at the time, it was pretty nice and was probably the best Jazz Bass they had in there in my opinion - then I sold it last month and really started to miss it. Thankfully, I've since been able to buy it back from the gent that bought it from me... Anyway, I went back into Absolute Music this morning just to have a look around and they have three brand new US Standard Fender Jazz Basses in stock, a sunburst exactly like mine, a white one and a red one. Truthfully, none of them are a patch on the one I've got. I really can't believe that the differences between the basses could be so vast considering they are all the same models! Massive, massive contrast. In short, I'd suggest either looking and trying as many basses as you can until you find a beauty or, as others have said, contact ACG or another custom builder. Nice problem to have though - deciding where to spend £1500.
18. I'm after some of these - AG 6J-HC - Apparently superb - expensive though http://www.aguilaramp.com/products_pickups_AGJHC.htm
19. Hi Molan - you got a spare 3 then? And have you guys got one any of the AG 6J-HC pickups? http://www.aguilaramp.com/products_pickups_AGJHC.htm
20. I like it unmastered personally
21. I've got a bass that that requires some mods - anybody got some recommendations?
22. ACG do their versions of those Gwizdala/Garrison 24/26 fret, 33 inch scale, single cut, 17.5mm bridge spacing basses and they're a fraction of the price...
