1. I find the "When composing and executing such pieces, how does one know when it's over?" question a fascinating one. I'm currently working with another musician and a technologist that will result in a collaborative piece of music indeterminate in length. It'll always be running, the exact same motifs will never be heard together more than once and you, the listener will choose exactly when you start listening to the piece, for how long, and when you stop listening. I find the philosophy and the basic technological challenges behind such projects fascinating. When complete, the results will be published on a dedicated web site. This link will take you to a piece I recorded when these ideas started to form in my head a few years back. While it is indeterminate in a way, it does require manual intervention from the listener. You can decide which loop to play, when, where in the loop you'd like to start it and where in the loop you'd like to stop it. http://eatsleeprepeat.com/minuspilots_menu_edit.html
2. Got a link to your solo loopy stuff?
3. I enjoyed it. I also liked the fact that, at times, there was almost no sound at all coming through. Another success in my opinion.
4. Yep Mac Mini... Or how about a second hand MacBook Pro? I saw a 2011 one sell on eBay for £450. And I'm pretty sure someone on here had an October 2010 one available for £400.
5. And I'd keep two DD-7s if I had to downsize
6.
Only two? That would be hard ... not counting a tuner, and not cheating with a multieffect I think maybe I'd go with a VT Bass DI (which in a way is a multi with dirt, EQ and DI) and maybe a chorus or phaser. I'm glad I don't have choose though. Edit: BTW, I have a similar picture I took only a few days ago ...
Hahaha that is awesome!!!!
7. Wow that is really, really nice. Congratulations!
8. Wow these do look superb - I wonder if Mark would do an unrelic'd, ebony fingerboard Limelight Jazz. Oh and a fiver would be cool!
9. To be honest I think I generally agree with you. Also I have found the high C to be more useful than the low B... I guess I was just surprised at how straightforward it actually was switching from a 4 - I thought it'd take ages to get used to a non-4 and I let that put me off trying extended range basses in the past...
10.
I've only found the ebmm forum members to be overly touchy really and I suspect that goes for any forum for a specific brand of anything? I must admit ive never seen a weak G on one which woukd be odd if its anything other than some form of eq thing, not necessarily the users fault as it could just be a compatability issue or something, I'm still struggling to get what I want from my Jazz but I know its not a faulty bass.
Stick with the Jazz... It'll come good.
11.
Lucky you Dazed! That P bass looks amazing Yes, I agree completely that these Limelights somehow "feel" worn in They are just so comfortable to play I don't quite know how Mark manages to get that worn-in feel & finish, but he's got it just right I'll hopefully be ordering one shortly My trouble is, I can't decide what colour to go for I love the '63 Fiesta Red (my YOB) But I have a rather nice Squier, in that colour I really want a maple fretboard, but they didn't do one in '63.... One minute, I want slightly yellowing Olympic White..... The next I fancy Burgundy Mist... What should I do? - and before anyone suggests it - I can't have more than one I already have too many basses, and am flogging my MM to make way for a Limelight Oh the agony of choice PS. I once owned an early 70's P - and I found the neck way too chunky and was put off Fenders for a very long time - now I love them..... with renewed enthusiasm!
Yellowing Olympic White with matching headstock
12. Hi - here is a link to the Aguilar page. The hum cancelling ones use a split coiling system that should be easily identifiable http://www.aguilaramp.com/pickups_preamps.htm
13. Thanks a lot for your help... Christ I really should have looked into this before buying the damn pedal. I stupidly thought that they would come with EU/UK/US parts as standard.
14. Here we are... 15. Hi there - can I ask which Aguilar pickups have been installed please? The 60s, 70s or hum cancelling ones? Cheers
16. Anyone know whether this power supply would work? http://www.amazon.co.uk/New-100-240V-Power-Supply-Adapter/dp/B00AY9RY3S
17. I just bought a Marbass compressore and need to buy a UK power supply - I know it needs a 12v dc power supply but was wondering if anyone knows what the 2A, 3A and 6A stuff refers too?
18. I've been playing electric bass for 17 years now and only just bought my first non-4 string (a 6er) this past Friday. I've played around with 5 and 6 string basses before but, until now, I've never felt happy/confident enough to actually buy one. I must say I feel I've been a bit stupid and have been missing out massively! While I've been practising a fair bit over the last couple of days, the crossover hasn't been nearly as difficult to overcome as I feared! For anybody who has or is experiencing the same kinds of doubts as I was having, I'd suggest just going for it! I wish I'd switched years ago!
First impressions? Always liked these, probably not for me but had a bit of a moment when one appeared here for sale recently.
This is probably the one that appeared They're so, so rare and crazy difficult to get hold of... I'm loving it so far
20. I've finally started using an EBow that I've had lying about for a year or so and as a result I think I now need a compressor to stop the signal getting too loud and out of control when blending it with some finger picked loops... Mind you, this could be caused by my lack of playing/practise time with the EBow?!?!
21. WOW!!! You'll regret letting this go man. Absolutely stunning bass.
22. To be fair this is very, very well priced. Somebody will be getting a bargain!
