2.
Simple really! What's the difference between these two companies? There are two seperate websites, two seperate brand logos, and yet all the cabinets are similar, and with similar brand names. The contact address for both companies is also exactly the same. I know we have users of both brands on this forum, so can anyone fill me in? Cheers! Danny
IIRC Tech Soundsystems were just re-launced / re-branded as Tech Amp. Don't know why, perhaps a marketing ploy? Hamster
 3. Ah well - that's two events I'm going to miss because of summer holiday plans - think I may have to re-book! Hamster

 8.
That would be a miracle, Mr H. Being solid state amps, they don't have output transformers. Or wuz it 'transistors' you meant? Either way, half mars bar to the following address, please.... BJ, that's appalling. Ashdown seems to have really lost its way of late. I wonder if this is one of the new Made In C**na ABMs?
Ha ha ha - what a doofus I meant the MAINS transformer. Gimme the address for the mars bar - it's melting a bit.... Hamster
 9.
Very weird! does anyone know why this might of happened?
I bet you half a mars bar it's a fried output transformer - a weak spot on Ashdown amps. Hamster

 11.
Yep-LOVELY AMP Hamster.... But IMHO these days-apart from the "cool" factor of having a B15- U R probly better off with a V4BH(the 100w tube amp from the B15 IS pretty similar apparently- some've said virtually the same) & a SVT15 cab-or a cuppla cabs...= FAR more conveniant-THAT B15 is not only EXPENSIVE but it weighs 117lbs & is hard to lift- & it's a tube amp-so U don't wanna go thumpin it round too much! IMHO-V4BH @ about 40lbs & a good cab(I use my EV 1x15" when I want the B15 vibe....& the NV610 when I want the SVT 810 vibe!!!!!!!!!! ;-) = a much better option.
I agree about the V4BH + cab, but Chris is after a combo which considerably narrows the field CK suggests a couple of good ideas, but they don't pop up too often (law of s.o.d. will apply from this post onwards! ) Hamster

 14.
Another great, underrated player. As you say, Blues does have a lot of repetitive patterns that even the best players employ, but he does manage to keep it interesting and fresh in each line he plays. Also works really well with the drummer (Chris Layton?) to create a great rhythm section. Certainly not the easiest position to fill, standing behind SRV and laying down the rhythm, but they both do it brilliantly.
Amen. Tragedy that SRV died when he did - the band were just getting back on form again. Hamster

Don't really know anything about these amps, so it's a bit of a gamble! I love valve sound, & fancied a change from my usual Trace. Does anybody know anything about this amp, or had any experience of it? Would be grateful for any info at all. Hope I haven't bought a lemon Many thanks
No personal knowledge, but a buddy of mine had one and quite liked it. 25. These are my thoughts on my Audere 3ZB on-board preamp. I have one of these installed in my Lakland 55/01 and to say it makes a big difference is an understatement. Features: 10 It's a preamp and Z-mode impedance control in one module. Buying it from new, you can choose to have it delivered in many configurations. Mine has 4 bands of EQ control – low, high and a stacked hi/low pot for mids, 1 volume pot, 1 pickup blend pot, a Z-mode impedance switcher and a battery condition LED for the single 9v battery. When you insert the jack into the bass, the circuit detects how much battery life is left and you get a series of coded flashes from the LED. The preamp is very clean, with no noise that I can hear, and the 4 band EQ gives you a lot of control over your sound. What adds considerably to your control is the Z-mode switch. Sound: 10 In Hi-Z mode you can get a very passive type sound. I also got a reasonable acoustic sound by changing the EQ and amp settings. If that's something that you really want, you can adjust the capacitance setting on the preamp module to match up with your bass/pickups to get much closer to that acoustic sound. In Mid-Z mode you get an excellent active bass sound with more mid-range which you can further emphasize with the stacked hi/lo mid control. You can go from a clean almost hi-fi sound to something with a lot more bite and grunt. I use the neck pickup most of the time in this mode. In Lo-Z mode the earth moves. You may have to turn down the gain on the amp to reel it in a little. It's loud, clean and deep, v e r y deep. The B on a standard Lakland is powerful enough but the Lo-Z gives it even more authority with no added distortion. If you've got the cabs to match it you're going to have a lot of fun. I like this mode best with the bridge pickup. I like Fender 5 strings but the B sounds a little lightweight, I'm guessing a Fender 5 with a Lo-Z switch will bring it to life. Once again you can adjust the preamp in Lo-Z mode to match your pickup output. Action, Fit, Finish: 10 Very well made and fits inside the bass in minimal space. If you want the battery condition LED you have to drill a small hole through to the control cavity. Reliability/Durability: 10 Not had any problems with it at all. Battery life is excellent. Customer Support: 10 I had to contact Dave Meadows as I wanted a wiring diagram and a bit more info regarding tweaking the preamp settings. Friendly on the phone, and everything I wanted was e-mailed within minutes. Overall Rating: 10 Within a few seconds I can go from an acoustic passive sound to way beyond a Stingray on steroids and get almost any sound in between by blending the pickups and controls. I should of got one years ago. Here's the website link http://www.audereaudio.com/3ZB.htm Hamster My dodgy photography
