1. And sold!
2. I am glad I asked! PlungerModerno, you are right. It is maple on swamp ash. I will give the wood glue a go first and then if that doesn't hold, attempt the plugging of the hole and refilling. I'll let you know how it goes.
3. My pickup started eeking its way out at a practice and magnetically sticking itself to the strings. On examination, a brass (??) fittings that is sunk into the wood has liberated itself from the wood and is floating free. I am thinking of using some glue to glue it back in and then put a seal of glue around the top rim of the fitting after it is in. I am thinking of doing it to the other fittings that are currently still in, to stop this happening to them too. Pictures included, with the free brass fitting pictured upside down so you can see how it was meant to grip the wood in the first place. Suggestions? Epoxy? Thanks in advance Rich
4. On hold at the moment
5. Would have tasted like blended whisky either way!
6. I bought a Spector Rex off Max, no problem at all. Great guy to deal with, happily chatted for hours and hours and let me try some of his amazingly bewildering collection of basses, great player too! All fab. Thank, Rich
7. My ticket was nowhere near that! £60 for one opposite the stage, great for filming with a powerful zoom. Sadly my row featured people who wanted to get drinks and go to the toilet all through the gig so lots of standing up and sitting down again. Why not just take a hip flask and be done with it?
8. Great basses! I have a Korean one and it's not your typical "Warwick" sound. On a side note if you ever sell the Acoustic Energy AE22s in the background - I'd buy them!!!!!
9. Thought Jeff Lynne was great!! Bass was plenty loud enough too! I liked how down-to-earth and modest Jeff was in the interview afterwards
10. I got the last seated ticket late last afternoon and went along. Rip-off commission, rip-off admin fee, rip-off parking but a good gig! I really enjoyed it! Blackmore wasn't as fast as he used to be but he still did some great guitar work (sweep picking, great runs) despite being 71. Really really enjoyed it! The instrumental section in the middle with the drum solo and keyboard part wasn't popular from what I can tell by online reviews but I really enjoyed it- Jens Johansson was on keyboards and his solo section was really enjoyable. No Marshall stacks - Engl everywhere. I will post videos on YouTube if I get a chance
11. Bank Holiday Bump Anyone interested in this? Would it help with some demos?
12. Hello I am selling my Harley Benton 1x10 cabinet with tweeter as I have bought another can and this is surplus to requirements. This originally was part of the BA5110C combo, where a 500W @ 4 ohms class D amp used to sit. I sold the amp and just used the cab for very quiet practice at home with another amp. I am not too sure on the power ratings of the speaker itself, but the amp that it was paired with was rated (perhaps somewhat generously) at 500w at 4 ohms; obviously it'll handle less if you drive it at 8 ohms. I do not know where the internal crossover in the cab is set to split frequencies between the tweeter and main speaker. I also do not know what the tweeter is made from, my apologies. The tweeter on it is not adjustable. Also the input cable to the cab is the TS plug you see pictured, so I used it with a speakon cable adapted with no problem. The adapted cable is included. This weighs 12 kg and is sturdily built! I'd prefer collection only from Droitwich, or I can meet by the M5 junction 5, but I work in Coventry so can meet up on the motorway (M42) after work on the way home perhaps? I'm flexible anyway. I don't have the boxes etc to post, sorry. Photos are available here: https://drive.google...ZFFDdW9jcDhYbzQ
13. I played one of these at the Sadowsky factory in their famous bass room and can confirm it sounded totally amazing. Amazing bit of kit.
14. BTW this might interest your guitar-playing chums if they are into that "guitar" music. Or it might interest you if you enjoy voluminous bass
15. Hi We're a three-piece playing instrumental rock (think Satriani, Vai, Led Zep) and various amounts of playing (some would say overplaying...). We're at The Crown Inn, 244 Stourbridge Road, Bromsgrove, B61 9LE Probably start around 8 I suspect. Please come along and critique. Thanks Rich
16. That's insane. I wear earplugs at every opportunity to combat hearing loss and practice at a sensible volume (quiet). The one drummer I play with cannot hear his hihats and cannot hear you rubbing your fingers together next to his ears. It's no fun.
17. I saw them last night in Birmingham and they were exceedingly good. The bass was phenomenally loud, and I was at the back. Billy's biamping is very clever - there was plenty of low-end bass (leaning on any of the fixtures showed that they were vibrating mentally) but plenty of midrange snarl to clearly hear what he was doing. So I take back my stupid first appraisal of the new album! I posted a few videos of the gig, including the bass solo (halfway though this): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B1CYPBR6d30
18.
I voted 5 but play 6 nearly as much. Don't play or own any 4s nowadays; totally off the radar for me.
I didn't realise you had migrated to 6s?? I found the 6 I had too difficult to play and it didn't help that it weighed as much as a small house. I have been picking the 4s up more recently, oddly! Do you just find the necks too thin now or just miss the extra low notes? (assuming you haven't put EADGC on instead...)
19. I have a HD210 which is identical to these but without carpet covering and it is brilliant. This is an excellent price for a pair, I must say!
