1. lush ASAT one of the (if not the) best looking I've yet clapped eyes on. DJ
2. Hi, if you can be swayed away from a Boss unit,my Zoom MRS802 (20GB HD and CD Writer) just went up on ebay this evening http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Zoom-MRS802-8-track-...1QQcmdZViewItem cheers DJ
3. Sibob, the gold one I got from geddy's nose back in March of this year for £550 and with the cash difference against my Bongo the hollowbody worked out the same.I dont ever see them for sale with retailers here, maybe someone else here knows who sells them in the UK. I do keep an eye on ebay and a company called Nitrotone Music in the states, who do the odd G&L blowout deal.Buffalo bros are another US retailer who move quite a few G&Ls.I got my Legacy 6 stringer from them. tonewise maybe another ASAT or L2K/L2500 owner can chime in and describe them better.to me they're G&L and just different from most out there. big and bold and most definetely versatile I'd say and Si,I've no plans to move on the gold one.I've grown very very fond of this bass since I got it from you.It earns its keep. cheers DJ
4.
Was it you with that ASAT perchance?
nope,he's no doubt waiting till he can proudly show it off DJ
5. Sibob, The two sound further apart acoustically than they do plugged in, the MFD pickups and the electronics are the same on both Lots of different tones from them both, and its fairly easy with a couple of switch throws to jump from one usable tone to another. In a band setting they cut through much better than my musicman and sound bigger too. I prefer the sound of these basses and the L2000s to any other I've heard. They dont balance the greatest but if you play with the neck angled up a bit when standing then its fine. I just love the look, vibe, tone and aura of these basses.imo they are pretty special DJ
6. 2001 ASAT semi hollow in cherryburst.I took this in part ex for my Bongo.both parties are happy not a mark on the ASAT. will be A/B ing it later against my regular solid bodied ASAT.in the interim here are the pics cheers DJ
7. great bit of business.these are great basses with bags of character. and I know someone else on these boards who snagged a USA G&L this week for the same amount but I'll let him tell you himself congratulations in the meantime are in order for the L2500 DJ
8.
Some people love the teal colour some hate but i think its one of the stingrays best finishes :-)
also one of the longest running finishes on the basses.been a lot of colours come and gone but teal still sells I bought 3 in this colour good luck with the sale DJ
9. thanks jwbassman, £195 including next day courier? cheers DJ
10. £60 including p&p? tell your guitarist..they normally like a bit of wear and tear on their kit DJ
11. Zoom MRS802 8 track with CD Burner.I bought this in December of last year for £279 and its seen very liitle use. comes with original box, manual, psu, software discs etc I cant see any completed listings on ebay at the moment to see how much they go for these days anyone know? cheers DJ
12. HI up for sale is my Boss GT-6. this is the skinny stringer version. I've gigged this the last 2 years and as you can see its showing some marked signs of wear.(2 knobs missing, scuffing etc) everything works ok,no electronics issues.dont have the box or manual but have the original Boss PSU sold as seen £60 DJ edit: only selling as I've started using the Pod XT Live floorboard out now lol dunno how my G&L came to be here.bloomin photobucket nonsense
13. yes I am could it sway you from a G&L? cheers DJ
14. oh man that is the mutts nuts for me somebody buy my Bongo please so i can buy this good luck with the sale DJ
15. hi from another fellow Scot,(KIllie, Ayrshire - home of the ned/chav ) stick around DJ
16.
By far the best looking Bongo I've seen. Reckon it would look even better without the pickguard. Great bass the Bongo as well, sold my 5er as I was moving back to 4 strings and that white is really making me think! I can't, but it's lovely Chris
thanks Chris, yup she looks great and much better in the flesh so to speak, but most of all I've had loads of great comments about its tone.my band leader said he could feel as well as hear the extra bottom end of this thing last night. I should also mention I'd swap for a Bongo with the single H as well if someone out there has one and fancies a bit of extra tonal options DJ
17. Finally decided this has to go so if i cant move it here or on the EBMM boards in the next week it will be ebay'd I gigged it for the first time last night and I just cant get on with the neck p/up placement at all.next week I'm going back to my Sterling H anyway this bass is phenomenal sounding and is a pretty rare example in white. On the MM forum I read they had issues at the factory colour matching the neck and body and this sounds about right.the neck is stark white whilst the body is more of a cream colour. This bass also has "Custom made" engraved on the neck plate. The bass is from June 2004 the Bongo has no issues at all bar a tiny little bit of paint having come away from the tip of the headstock(about 1mm or so) It comes with the EBMM hard case. Looking for £675 will do a trade/part ex/swap for a nice StingRay,another Sterling,USA Jazz S1,G&L etc cheers DJ
18. what a piece!! once again on these boards poverty comes between me and enlightenment DJ
19. I've got a 4 string Bongo with the humbucker and single coil and its a bit of a tone monster. good bits big big tone with a a lot of variety compensated nut for great intonation across the neck- harmonics pop out all over super fast low action on mine without any rattles or choking off notes 24 frets (if thats your thing) feels indestructible neck single coil sounds great solo'd 4 band EQ is well voiced imo did I say tone? this thing sounds huge, fat, and with a smooth hi-fi sounding tone (the sounds are the best thing about teh Bongo imo) bad bits neck pickup bit close to the edge of the fingerboard lower horn juts into my leg when playing seated possibly I hear more electronics than wood in the sounds(not sure this is necessarily a bad thing) looks still seem odd to me painted neck not everybodyd idea of fun I was going to offload mine but I've a project I'm using it on these days and it fits the bill brilliantly. It also compliments my Sterling very well. hope this helps DJ
20. the SR5 is the only 5 string I ever held onto.it was a great bass but didnt sound as full on as any Sterling I've owned/played even though its got the same control layout.just seemed softer, more hi-fi than growl, the 5 sits great in a mix though DJ
21. sell it and buy a bass over there to bring back home with you. problem with that scenario is not frittering the money away on other distractions beforehand DJ
22. Spy in the Cab by Bauhaus.one plucked note high up the board every 4 bars or something...will need to have a listen again DJ
23. the #8 neck is a peach but its not going to be on an L2500. I cant speak about the build quality, action, fit and finish on the Tribute models but the electronics are the same as those on the USA ASAT/L2k and 2500 and they really are great-the permutations are mind boggling but easy to get round. In passive mode with the middle switch in series and the front one on neck pickup it does a great P-bass,likewise I can get close to the sounds of a Jazz and a Stingray with a couple of switch throws.another feature is the fact that if your battery goes down it plays fine in passive mode.I think the G&L passive treble and bass system is neat too and I like the fact you can lock up the hefty saddles within the big meaty bridge once set. and imo the G&L MFD pickups sound more full on and ballsy than just about any others I've heard I know that nig on these boards has both a L2500 and an L5500 for sale if your heart desires a USA model DJ
