So I wonder what your would doc prescribe for people with hand/arm problems?
lol, yes... quite... Thankfully I didn't have to find that one out! -
Very good to hear. It does cheese me off when you hear stories of people not looking after your possessions.
-
Why not write some reviews, or contribute to the Wiki page? I think if we have too many stickies, we'll be wading through them before we get to see any new posts!
I can feel a cheesy chat-up line coming on...
euugghooo .. chat up lines make me wretch, they really do lol lol -
Nothing to add that will help, but I thought I'd share a humourous anecdote about going to see the doctor with some pains.
I used to do a drivng job, that also involved a lot of lifting and lugging gear round in 'tall person unfriendly' environments. The cars and vans we were given to use were designed for people less than 5' too I think!
Long story short I got some really bad pains in the back of my legs and lower back. Ended up being the muscles round my backside and the tops of the backs of my legs. Obviously I was prescribed the usual pain killers, but the doctor suggested I take specific exercise to keep those muscles groups moving.
His prescription nearly had me falling off my chair with excitement.

"Wah-oh Wa-ohhhhh" taken from 'Totally Addicted To Bass' by Puretone. I think that says it all really .. lol

That people are Buying!..... or has this turned into Shuker Corner?
lol, I'll try not to be biased.. I guess it's testament to the quality of Jon's work if he is gaining business through word of mouth and not really advertising himself.
disclaimer: there are plenty of other luthiers producing great basses. Your mortgage maybe at risk if you do not keep up with payments. 8/10 cats said their owners preferred jazz. Medically proven in tests -
The Roland would be my vote out of the three for excellent tone... but none of the three,in my view would have the b@lls to compete with a drummer, unless said percussionist tickles the skins with johnson's ear cleaning accessories instead of sticks.

Think you know my reply already!! You get a lot of money's worth in the *US* CIJ reissue ;O)

I heard jamie's (BassJam) Dr Bass cabs at a bass bash ages ago. Good noises from small boxes! - The 2460's look like a wonderful cab.. especially at 30Kg. Two of them would make a very nice portable stereo rig. I really can't sell my Epifani UL-610 though lol lol
At some point I will pop down to see ya Robbie, As I would love to hear the 2460's. -
The Transporter has a lower power rating, no tweeter and the construction is less substantial than the 4.5xl, amongst other things. You can check the spec for yourself if you like.
Absolutely. +1 etc etc... I have A/B'd the whole Hartke range pretty much. I would have to honestly say that the transporter, although a good cab is dwarfed by the shear guts of the 4.5XL. I even like it better than the 810XL -
Dood probably can't remember but he played this bass at the Bass Merchant back in the summer
OH BLIMEY!!! yes! Of course it was ha ha ha!! What a dumbass I am! Sounded great through that Aggie cab didn't it? ;o) -
Replacing the speakers will make little difference to the weight or to the real world power handling. Good cab, midrange speakers make so much more sense than pairing woofers with tweeters and suffering a sonic hole in between.
Alex
Dude, have you felt the weight of those individual speakers lol.. I reckon you'd notice the difference if all 4 were swapped out for Eminence's NEO Alu cones. Honest guv, I was looking into doing this myself.
Love these cabs so much. People give them stick, but they really are excellent. My biggest piece of advice is NOT to EQ them like you would paper cones! They sound and act differently.. especially as there is an additional tweeter in there too. I have heard all this guff about them sounding cold and brittle.. Absolute nonsense!
P.S. if I had the spare cash, I would go out, but a 4.5XL and drop some NEO cones in, just to see how they sound.. well, Until Larry Hartke gives mean endorsement deal.. then I wanna have a go on those HyDrives!!!! -
Sexay Shuker beast! I don't need to +1 the recommendations! Gawwwd I love Burr tops, of all types.. Buckeye etc.. SOOO nice!
Hi Mister Dood
Thats what I was after a good debate keep us all muddling through and get the grey matter working.
Hows the dust settled round yer transision to 7 strings and mad low notes?
I am also a shuker boy.....
Ah Yes! I have seen your Shuker! Nice!!
As for the dust.. lol, I don't think it is put down long enough for dust *to* settle .. The 7er is great. Has produced some really nice effects on a new demo track the band have been recording. Its nice to have the range as well.. I can see alot of openings in the music for some 'north of the border' tinkling too.
Will hopefully have some demo stuff out in 'the domain' soon! -
I ate a hippy once. Tasted like hemp.
I hope he took his boots off first.
No worries Dood, didn't take it personally just wanted to outline that I don't think they're a bad thing at all, just I'd rather not use them
Ok mate. all good here. ;o) -
I don't consider them evil ( no idea what bilbo was getting at ) just I'm not much cop with them and most playing for me is visual/feel related. When I have attempted to use them it's all too regimental and "perfect".... too perfect for me.
OK, OK. I'm a loose hippie
Not you personally Jase, but I'm surprised at the almost Marmite reaction to our little time keeping friends that I am getting off this thread and..well, Mr Berlin amongst others.
p.s. i'm a hippy lol lol -
Why is a metronome seen as such a devil of evil by some? Ask not what your metronome can do for you; ask what you can do for your metronome! - I mean, learn to use it to your advantage. Don't let it control you, but assist in your playing/practicing whatever.
. He has a chap who makes them, and he's getting a price for a set for future reference.
I think that is indeed NewTone.. The guy made my 7 string set for me when I picked up doodle -
Yeh the ole Hartke site has always been a bit slow!
Anyone found a price list for these babies yet? -
Ah yes! The secret ingredients! Pick + P Bass + Ampeg stack on full tilt. There's just something about that tone!!! Some of my favourite bass players use this set up!
-
Newtone do strings to order as well. Could be useful.
Of course! Doh.. can't believe I forgot to mention them.. as they have been very helpful in the past! -
Toupe have two bass players. And they are more than a bit good.
Speakin of which, we haven't seen Grant around here for ages!! (the six string pedulla player) Anyone know where he got to?
In reply to the OP, I guess theres no real reason why not.. to me it seems like fun.
James brown had Clyde Stubblefield & John Jabbo Starks playin 2 drum kits.
Orchestras usually have a few double bass players.
Some bands have 3 guitarists.
I think if the playing is tight and worked out methodically then it could sound really good. -
Alu centres, paper outters mate ;o)
Ampeg BXT-410HL
in Amps and Cabs
Posted
Hey everyone!
I have been using the VST plugin 'Ampeg SVX' for sometime.. it's great for recording with and it means I needn't drag all my gear around ;o) - I usually set it up so it is the equivalent of DI'ing my SVP valve preamp for my tone. (Using the SVT 4 sim with the cab turned off) . However recently I find myself going through all the patches and ending up selecting the BXT-410H cab sim, matched to the SVT4 head sim.
So.. I am intrigued... has anyone got one? I'd love to find out what they sound like 'in reality'. Not to be mistaken with the SVT-410HLF
Here's some info and pics....
