Ha ha ha ha ha!!! Nooooo not what I meant lol. I should have said, "Considering it's a signature bass (and a seven string) you are unlikely to find another as good at that price.

Not just yet ma man! ;o) We are in the midst of writing material at the moment. We have a few demos, but we keep improving bits, so they are never [i]quite[/i] ready!

I agree with the reviews about the F1 Vs the LMII. However I will very quickly jump in and say this amp, although being 'immediate' sounding and a bit more clean than the LMII it's definitely not sterile or cold sounding. The VLE and VPF controls, i expected to be a bit of a gimmick, but it IS really good to see 2 controls that can alther the voicing of an amp so usuefully. I call them the Ampeg control lol!!

I have gigged my F1 with my Epifani 610 and there is no problem with volume. I think I'm yet to go over '4' lol!

oh and the fact that it is tiny is fantastic!! - Mine lives in a 4u rack now, but being so small, it will be ideal for taking on tour, should I need to travel light!

My only warning is this. Expect your band mates to ridicule you relentlessly about your gear right up to the point where they hear the F1 keeping up with 2 valve guitar heads and 4x12's. ;o)

They still take the mic about me and my obsession with light gear.. F1 has proved itself ;o)

- On the subject though.. Yes I realise that the stuff I am into and love playing is a bit more niche than the likes of the Kaiser Chiefs (ref above). I certainly miss hearing about players who are pushing the envelope a bit.. and I don't necessarily mean being the fastest and having the most strings. I get quite excited about seeing well executed and totally mind boggling playing! The guys from my band have me laughing out loud with their craziness!

I recently purchased an Aguilar GS-112 from Ash. We had a good chinwag about all things bass. Great chap to deal with and have secured ownership of essentially a brand new cab! Very good!

Bert bought my EBS Multicomp t'otherday. Another swift and trouble free transaction.

Tom recently purchased a Cambridge Audio amp from me. All went swimmingly - a very easy deal done. )

One of the best Signature 7 strings out there for the price no doubt!

I put mine on ebay when I took delivery of my Shuker 7. It was quite funny, as I had clearly stipulated UK only, but there was this guy in Spain who so desperately wanted it! Apparently trying to get hold of these basses (or any off the shelf 7) over there is a near impossibility!

I love the big phat sound of these basses. The neck and string spacing contributed to the design of my Shuker.

I felt Fleamail's thread the other day needed pasting here, for everyone thinking of trying to import from Japan:-

Then another guy from a Greek forum also tried to contact them asking for a Fender Japan guitar and he got almost the same quote:

I know that Fender always prohibited the sale of their instruments outside Japan but ishibashi and a couple more japanish webshops like stringnet.co.jp used to ignore the limitation. I guess they will no longer do that![/quote]

Ah yes, yes of course! I was using the module standalone with one of my Tech cabs as a practice rig and between fits of GAS for other gear and realising that my 'main' rig wasnt that heavy in the first place I think I ended up just using my Powersoft amp, which is a 2000W 1u D Class poweramp that weights around 8 kilos ;o) I never had the guts to cut a hole in the back of my lovely Tech cabs to mount the BK amp. Maybe if i DID then I would have been so daft and sold them! lol - But I am feeling the love with my new rig now, so I guess it was all part of the learning process. As it happens, I did think about gettinfg a module again, but when I found the Mark Bass F1.. which is also a very lightweight Dclass Amp.. there really wasnt a need! I keep my Powersoft in case I should need extra power.. but so far the F1 has proved itself capable into my 6x10.

My ole BK module is now owned by a chap here on BC - I forget who (sorry). Now, I have an electronics background too and can confirm the modules are very well built.

My first rack system I ever built featured the 450W module from this same range, many many years ago. Again, a really well made unit! I understand that BK actually OEM their kit out to PA manufacturers / Installations.

Very impressed.. UK based and not a lot of money either. The modules come ready to wire up and only a minimal understanding of electronics is required to make it work. Though you are working with mains electricity, so its worth having the thing checked over if you are unsure. Sorry if it's teaching to suck eggs etc.. I just don't want to see anyone hurt. - And boy have I seen some lethal elcetronic jobs in the past!

Ey Tom! Yeah, they're wicked! Slot straight in the back with 4 screws and plumb it in. The input is XLR bal/unbalanced compatible and instrument level as well, which is very cool! no need for a line driver or preamp. just a bit of EQ!!!!!

Infact, if you want to go the whole hog, these are actually designed to fint into a cabinet to make it active, but can be used standalone.

I tune to low F# and to be honest, Alex is right on the money. I think you'll find the bottom end is far better reproduced through the PA subs than the back line. You only really need to hear the overtones (that backline cabs are far better at reproducing) than those low fundamentals. 90% of cabs on the market (and speaker cones) can't produce those fundamentals in that region anyway.
