1.
Bump for pics of my own making... 650 pounds everybody!! surely its worth it just for Doods seal of approval!
That's cheaper than a Barefaced Big One AND you get a power amp AND you get a preamp AND you get a cover too! (The Barefaced uses the same woofer, for those who are interested)
2. It isn't 'switchable' and doesn't use an'auto sensing' switch-mode power supply - you'll need to buy a UK version
3. I love the Chapman Stick and that tone is beautiful! Especially those deep notes! Clean and resonant. The piece is sweet and hypnotic Guido!
4. Look also at the possibility that the 6.5A fuse in the amp is a 'delay' or 'slow blo' type that is designed to take an initial surge of high current. The 5A fuse in the mains plug is a fast blow type and is probably unable to handle that initial spike. Without a lesson in egg sucking, have you checked the manual for you amplifier and does it suggest the size fuse required? Definitely heed Dave's advice - those 'computer' style IEC leads (yes - some people call them kettle leads..) are rated for 13A. Try one of those with a 13A fuse.. and if you are unlucky and the 6.5A fuse blows - don't just replace it - it's time to get your amp checked over!
5. Good grief!! Cab, Amp and Studio quality preamp for less than the price of a cabinet! I'm surprised it's still here!
6.
Personally if I had the extra cash, a Markbass F1 would be in my collection. Very small, very light, and a tight punchy tone.
Yes, definitely +1. By coincidence - I have only just spotted the MB-200 and made a post just a few minutes ago!!! lol
7. http://www.gallien-krueger.com/products_mb.html Look at this! it's a weeny one!! compared to the MB500:- (Same size as the F1)
8.
I think it was me who sold it to you on evilbay, and how i regret it. I was desperate to raise some money at the time to buy a new amp, now my band has broke up and i have been searching desperately for another of these units, thats how i noticed this post when i did a google search. I love the fact that the controls are all inside the unit so once you have found a setting you like there is not so much temptation to mess with it. The sheet i sent with it was something the Tech 21 support team sent me when i enquired about a manual for it, i too was puzzeled by the phontom power info, i assumed it was becouse i was not using it with a suitable mixing console. If you ever decide to sell it, please get in touch.
Woh! Small world eh!! a bit OT, but it reminds me of my recent reunion with a digital EQ that I sold on BassChat a loooong time ago! - I couldn't find another for love or money, so on the off chance I posted on BC. Long story short, I bought it back from the chap I sold it to and it's not leaving again! he he! It's brilliant. Anyway, what an intriguing early Sansamp. I actually like the controls being out of the way so they can't be bashed when you have set it up just how you want it! I have a Paradriver and I do knock the controls sometimes!
9. I am crying from laughter. "Boshhh!" lol
10. I use - with the really inspired title 'YouTube Downloader HD' lol ;0) it works and you can download to different formats depending on your needs - ie high quality or low file sizes for use on an Ipod etc.
11. If something is rattling around *inside* the valve then the first port of call will be getting a warranty replacement as it is blatantly faulty. Then if their biasing has broken your amp, then they are liable for sorting that out as well surely?
12. Glad you are sorted! That's great! I noticed an improvement going from 9 to 18v - but I think it was worthwhile as I am using a preamp as well, so having the extra current is probably a bonus!
13. Maybe the dust cover is working loose gain - or worse, the cone itself is coming away from voice coil?
14.
I like this version: Quite like David Gilmour's bass solo.
Just a shame that, as usual the people behind the video editing and camera direction have NO IDEA where the solo is coming from.
15.
In the first instance, you can buy monorails direct from www.status-graphite.com They're also available at www.ABM-mueller.com & http://www.allparts.com/ABM-Single-String-...bb-3501-010.htm
Beat me to it! The same three I thought of too!
16. NnnnnnnnngggAaaaaaarghHHHHH !!!!!! How frustrating Pete! Talk about having to prolong the pain! I hope the month of May sales past for you!!!
17.
dammit - just remembered the 2 blue picks slipped under the scratchplate at Wembley - should have added those in my pic!
Good point! I have blue pics - just not the same ones as JD's
18.
You were thinking of this: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=83877
Indeed I was! Thank you so much!
19.
^ What he said A
I've voted black as I am feeling the 'black on black' love at the moment with my 'Deacon' bass - however - the mirror guard is a great idea! OR - as recently posted on BC - get a clear guard and place a photograph underneath it! Then you can change the guard to whatever you want as your mood suits. I think it looked brilliant!! - But I can't remember WHO posted it or where it was!! I was thinking of something like a photograph of a circuit board, or a picture of a piece of curly maple?? Something a bit different!
20. Ah yes! I saw this last year too - but watching it a second time was a must. I also watched the whole of the Tom Petty documentary before it. I'd never really been a massive Tom Petty fan - but after watching that, I do have a greater respect for him, his band and what he has achieved. Great stuff and both tv programs should definitely be caught if you haven't seen them yet.
21.
Weird! My post ended up in the quote box!! you can tell I don,t post much!!
I've fixed it for you ma man!
22. If you can grab a cheap looper or Boss LS-1 so theyou can mix a dry bass one in as well - I think it will sound pretty good yeah. The stock pedal loses a lot of bottom end so you'll need to keep that in, if you don't wantg to dissapear into the depths of the mix!
23. I think your assumption could well be true. I'd hope that any company worth their weight would mark up their cables correctly - oh unless it's a dodgy far eastern clone make. So my feeling is that it is indeed a speaker lead. you have no real way of telling by sight with moulded plugs that you can't unscrew. The only reference I have found to Series X Professional Audio is this one so far http://bernsmusic.co.uk/guitars/guitar-acc...o-jack-lead.htm - but it doesn't say any more about the cable itself.
24. Are they passive pickups? I am assuming yes. Next thing to do is to upload a really nice clear photograph of all the wiring (so we can see cable colour and where the wires are attached) - I reckon it will be something fairly simple and a second set of eyes will set you straight in to time!
25.
Ahhh i see thats a pretty good idea! So did you put the cable ties through the washers on the back? You would reccomend just getting a 4U then based on your fan idea and removing the rubber bottoms? Cheers Sam
yup, cable ties through the washers then round the gril and back to meet the other end of the cable tie. it was a bit fiddley with the grill left on! But that was just me being lazy! Yup, I unscrewed the rubber feet so the amp could slide into the case. That's not unusual though - I think I have had to remove feet from all my amps before racking them! Certainly the method worked for me and given that the fan is a good one with a strong flow, there's no reason why it won't work for others. If you do try the method, don't forget those computer fans must be wired with the correct polarity. The wrong way round and they won't spin at all! (+=red -=black).
