1.
Yeah... Don't see a problem with it based on what you've already said. I have Beedster's 70's Yamaha Pulsar incoming and other than being maple/ash (as opposed to my current rosewood/alder p) it's my year of birth bass I've been keeping an eye for for while and wanted before my 40th next year...
Snap! My '76 landed a few months ago. My birth year bass and i've just turned the big 40 this month. It's an Ash and Maple lawsuit bass and I adore it so much! Incredible instrument. My other 'precision' is a Power Jazz Bass Special from the 80's and is a completely different bass despite the similar outline.

 3. What an amazing opportunity! Especially as these new strings are rather good indeed!
 4. Brilliant, I've got a little job for it so I'll take it!
 5.
Put the pedal in a larger metal box and wire that box as a bypass pedal that bypasses the pedal inside the box ?
What's actually funny about this is that I was thinking about mounting all the pedals on a board with a clear perspex cover! Not totally enclosed but at least being able to ensure nothing was kicked. A bit like this idea:
 6.
Get the Source Audio Programmable EQ perhaps?
A pedal I would very much like to try actually!
 7. Oh yeah, and realise that there's way more to 'your job' than just playing bass. Don't pigeon hole yourself and see what else you can do. Remember, as much as you'd love to do this all for free, you are here to make money now, even if it is just enough to pay the bills.
 8. Go to school, learn how to be self-employed, learn how to run a business. Much like going to see a tutor to learn how to play bass, you learn so much more from 1-2-1 time with people who build businesses for a living. Yes, it may end up costing you, but hey, that's what expenses are for
 9.
I believe the culprit here could be the way TC optimise the Class D output stage in their amps - their 'active power management'. It is likely become more apparent as you wind up the wick
The BH heads do not use the APM circuit, only the RH heads do
 10. Some really great ideas actually!!! Thanks so much, you're all ace - Well, what's interesting is that the pedal itself is only a cheap one, but it is very good for what I need it for. I wouldn't be too upset about cutting the ends off, but I really like perspex type cover to lock the sliders in place. I think that would be a cool idea to try! Keep 'em coming, this is real food for thought!
 11. You know when you have finally got everything set up and sounding great, there's always the fear of kicking the pedals by mistake and knocking those carefully crafted settings to oblivion? No? Just me then.. Well, I'm using a graphic EQ pedal to sculpt a high pass signal before it hits my drive pedals. What I would like to do is lock the sliders in place so they can't be adjusted or kicked. I've even thought about replacing all the sliders (possibly 10K ohm type) with preset pots instead! Drastic surgery but do-able. Or, maybe some sort of lid that can be fixed over the top of the panel where the sliders are. I've even tried using boost pedals and mini pedals instead of the EQ but nothing seems to sound right. The cheapy EQ pedal just works and the sound is just awesome! I call upon the wealth of knowledge here on BC to see if there is another solution!
 12. Is this still available?

 15. Often, if a bass isn't working out for me, but I want to work with it, I give it a full service. It's amazing what a full set up can do to a bass I might be fighting. I find that getting the relief right and action can make a dog play like...well... you know, as they say 'butter'. A fret dress won't go amiss either!
 16. I'm sorry, I am unable to get these cabs boxed up for collection by a courier at present. Pickup would be preferable certainly this month anyway. Apologies.
 17. It's going to be one sexy bass that's for sure! I have a law-suiter here, Black P/G on Ash and Maple. I adore the combination, so I know that this is going to be so tasty!!
 18.
Very nice indeed, he doesn't hang about does he?
Oh no, he certainly doesn't! That man has golden hands!!!
 19.
All I can suggest is; find a teacher, a good, very good teacher! Different people find different things hard so try not to beat yourself up over it. Most of the greatest rock musicians wouldn't be able to tell you what key they were in! A good teacher will help to break it down in an understandable way. Most people have the capacity to learn difficult stuff, its just breaking down the barrier and finding a way in which it makes sense to you. Edited to say, sorry if that doesn't sound helpful, but there is probably no point trying to explain how it stuck for me as we all learn differently. It sounds like a proper, qualified and experienced teacher could help you far more, in a few hours, than anything else.
Yes, a good teacher I would recommend also. One who is patient and can work with you with a customised lesson plan rather than regurgitating the same lessons over and over.
 20. There is definitely a link between reading notation (and playing it at the same time) and those who also suffer from 'visual stress' reading normal text. For example, the use of overlays (sometimes green for example) can help to sharpen up and make reading text and symbols easier. If it's an effort to read something then it certainly becomes less fun to try to learn it, that's for sure! I use glasses with a VDU filter (essentially blocks out ultra-violet and parts of the blue colour spectrum I believe) and I find it much easier to read normal text and notation. It is a marked difference. I am not Dyslexic though. Musical Dyslexia does exist, though I suspect it'll be given a different medical name!
 21.
I have a great drummer. http://medias.audiof...esx1-603049.jpg Edit: don't know how to embed images from my phone, will fix when I get home from work.
Yeah, these are great. I mean, you only have to PUNCH the information in once with one of these
 22.
Finding the drummer can be done . Keeping them can be a problem tho '...
non-prescription drugs, lots of gaffer tape and a cellar - or suitable blackmail over dodgy mobile phone pictures can help.
 23.
Pretty sure I jammed with one of your old drummers a few years back - hadn't been back playing bass for long then, but boy that was special. So much control, so much feel. Never come across anyone else close to that.
Oh wow! Coooool! I taught them well heh he he!!!! Speaking of keeping good time and control, a very good friend of mine, a session drummer & clinician based in L.A and I managed to jam over Skype. It was just for fun, playing around some classic grooves. When Skype stopped freaking out and restored our connection we found that we'd managed to stay playing in time - across five and a half thousand miles!
 24. Oh my word isn't it! There's something, whatever it is - call it X Factor or some deep psychological theory over what bonds musicians together in unspoken communication - but when you find them, as you say, it is so damn good!
 25.
Yes, more visible would be good Dood. That QSC amp looks great. If/when I am going to go for one I'll check out all the options I think!
Give me a shout if you want to ask anything about the QSC or above reviews!
