I believe that The Bass Centre are Warwick 'Gold' Dealers, so they'll have quite a lot of sway with their account manager at Warwick UK. I've had my Thumb BO from new since 2003 and never experienced any issues with the tuners. Like you say, it must have just been a 'Friday' part. I had issues with my Just-a-Nut II which Warwick were very quick to reply to my emails including a telephone number for the top guy at Warwick UK at the time, still had to buy parts but they weren't expensive.
tuners came today removed washer and replaced it on the bass . so i have spare tuners now . parts are reasonably priced so hopefully no more problems .
 2.
I'm running around doing several things here at once, so I've garbled the description a bit. But this link has some better written information. There are better links as I've read them before, but can't find them. http://www.consumerline.org/legislation/?c...m=sale+of+goods
had a reply from dave at the bass centre he agrees and has said that he will contact warwick about future sales ,his tech is going to sort me out a washer . my other warwick came down with a cracked nut they replaced it no problem .
 3.
Speak to the Bass Centre. As I said, I'm no lawyer, but I believe that it's their responsibility to fix your tuner, unless it was your negligence that caused the fault. Your local trading standards will be able to give advice, but I believe that when goods break within six months of purchase it is presumed that the fault was present at the time of purchase and its up to the seller to prove that they were not. After six months, it's the responsibility of the buyer to show that the fault was there at the time of purchase. You bought the bass just over five months ago. Companies will often hide behind their warranties. But goods are expected to last for a reasonable time. How long this "reasonable" length of time is depends on the nature of the product, the price paid, etc. But I would expect that a premium brand bass would last for years without faults, and Trading Standards may agree. So if a company says that the warranty is only for one year, and after that you're on your own, that may not actually be the case. Again, the company cannot just say that the warranty does not apply to all parts of the product. But in terms of the contract of sale, "the company" is The Bass Centre, not Warwick. As I keep saying, I'm no lawyer. But your contract of sale was with The Bass Centre, not with Warwick. So it's them you need to speak to. If they say that you need to speak to Warwick, then you may want to point out to them that you bought the bass from them, your contract is with them, and that your bass was not of merchantable quality. But, The Bass Centre primarily (as far as I know) sells premium quality products. And hence I'd expect (no guarantee of course) that they will act properly to fix the problem. That you've already bought tuners could be a problem, but speak to them and see what happens. If it looks like it is going to become a problem, you are probably best off going to your local Trading Standards to ask for advice. You could also ask on the consumer rights forums of http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/ and/or http://www.moneysavingexpert.co.uk
i have sent a mail to them .to befair when i bought my first warwick it came down with a broken nut ,they replaced it free of charge no problem . so i will see what happens as they have been very good in the past ,perhaps i should have contacted them in the first place . thanks for your help it is much appreciated
 4.
I'm no lawyer, but if you bought that bass new in the UK, the Sale of Goods Act should apply. That is, that the bass (all of it) should be required to be of merchantable quality, free from defects, and last a reasonable time. And, if it breaks for a reason other than misuse then the retailer who sold it to you should be responsible for repair or replacement. As I said, I'm no lawyer, but believe that companies selling in the UK cannot remove your statutory rights under the act by unilaterally deciding that they don't warranty the whole product. How long ago did you buy it, and did you buy it in the UK?
26/05/08 from the bass centre
 5.
A bit of a joke as they are Warwick branded Gotoh tuners - that should definitely be a warranty repair! All Warwick's hardware is bespoke to them so I can't see why they wouldn't replace it (at least they could return the faulty tuner to Japan for QC purposes). I'd agree that it is rare - having bought about 40 Warwick tuners, plus all the existing ones on Warwicks I've owned over the years I've never seen your problem (hope quality isn't on the slide!)
quite agree like buying a car and only the bodywork is covered the engine and drive not included warwick after sales suck ,they thanked me for having two ,won't be three . ps just mailed them telling them this .
 6.
Not a Warwick but two of the washers have gone on my Cort Curbow recently No real effect on the bass, just odd. Cheers Alun
yes just weak nylon i think plastics can be brittle if too hot when made ,become harder but brittle . seems rare though which is a bonus
 7.
If you can measure then and compare the sizes to some known thread sizes..... try here..... http://www.modelfixings.co.uk/washers.htm#nylon%20washers
thanks good site
 8.
You didn't tighten the stiffness adjustment screw on the end of the tuner perhaps?
well e-mailed warwick and no they do not do the washers seperate ,and the warranty covers the bass not the hardware so i ordered two tuners one left one right for spares 13.80 euro plus 10 euro postage which seems quite cheap . he said it was unusual . must have had a friday one . i was worried it was a common fault . is it usual not to include hardware in the warranty with other makes ?
 9.
No as sadly I dont own any Warwicks (BTW that doesnt mean I wont at some point!) But I'm surprised you cant get the washers...... Could you try and source then from somewhere else? what size are they?
hi about 3-4 mm have e-mailed warwick told them the serial number and still under warranty .will search around for washers . will keep you posted if i get a reply
 10. when putting new strings on my $$ .the E tuner sudenly went click thought oops ! on inspection the white plasic washer behind the key had split . took off key using philips screwdriver, put washer from my other bass on .works fine . seems it only acts as a friction washer . tuner worked fine without it ,but have ordered new tuner as i do not seem to be able to buy these washers on their own . has anyone else experienced this or is it a one off. ?
 11.
I've got a set of Warwick EMP's on my $$ and they are pretty good.
me too my $$ came with them always used elites but am reluctant to put them on the $$
 12.
I never wax the neck of my basses because of the sticky feeling it leaves even after being buffed up, but I might give that Briwac Original Clear stuff a go if you’re recommending it. I’ve only ever used the Warwick beeswax BTW – not brave enough to try anything else
bass centre or warwick direct

 14.
WTF? Perhaps some lessons in english comprehension and expression required?
i was refering to the comment on left handers not being made !!!!!!!!

 16.
Exactly. Really, if someone can afford 57 basses, do you really think its sensible to call them sad, seriously. If i had been the guy you were talking to, i would have slapped the guy who gave you that comment, then given you his wallet. But thats just me Zach
complete muppet ,have been in there the once , morons is too polite . any salesman worth his salt would have picked up on the fact that this guy is able to fund bass purchase . luckily my local shop lets me try without question (being more mature helps ). spent ages trying a rick then a good chat about different basses great afternoon .i always thought the first rule is the customer is always right especially now with the credit crunch . going in dec to london , the gallery is top of the list . bass cellar has no chance
 17.
just an idea without knowing cost but what bout a rick?
+1 to a rick tried one the other day awsome

Any advice from you guys that have experience with oiling and waxing bodies would be appreciated. :brow: No...this is not a porn hack attempt Thanks in advance.
i use warwick's own beeswax ,tin lasts ages got one with my $$ . the tin costs about £10 . any warwick dealer should have it or try warwick online .
 19.
That starts to make sense, I never considered the E/A D/G style early Fender saddles. What's that brass disc then and why the heck won't he post these out?
because he is a numpty

 24. well i started with guitar ,but fancied drums . we did not have a drummer so drums it was for most of my youth playing in various bands then marrage drums stored at parents then divorce had to sell drums . remarried several years later then about five years ago felt the urge to play something again ,drums seemed too bulky so my other underlying fave was bass but in my band playing days my best college mate was the bass player ,he has now got into irish folk . so i bought a bass (cheap and cheerfull )several basses later hooked . wish i had done it years ago.
 25. yep black does look good on dark wood , there again i my be bias
