1. well as i own two and love them both i must be different. fender bass on the other hand does not really apeal to me for some reason and i believe quality control for fenders varies so much that buying without trying is a no no . the warwick has a nice shape and i like the action . some find the necks wide but i find i can reach all the strings easily . (must have ape hands lol ) my $$ has so many tones and feels great . i do fancy a rick but cannot justify the price really . might try a jazz sometime but i think i would not part with my $$
 2.
It'll have a chubby neck, that's for sure! Very comfortable to play though as the 'board will be narrow at the nut The one i tried had the same neck dimensions as my German Corvette 4, slim board but deep neck. The string spacing felt a little narrower though as there is no adjustment on the one-piece bridge.
hi i have a fortress rockbass ,have upgraded to $$ corvette w. but still like to play the fortress . fortress has one j pickup and one p bass pickup. quality is good ,but in the end try and its up to you in the end .
 3.
ooh... just read stanley260's thread in the bass guitars section about non-reverse thunderbirds. they're NASTY! i think they're possibly the worst looking bass ever made, i really do.
ashdown amps , mine went t*ts up
 4.
I have had success emailing Warwick a couple of times in the past for spare parts. If you tell them where you bought it from and how soon it happened after initial purchase then I'm pretty confident they will just send you a replacement screw for free. I would also slip into the email that you didn't receive the Warwick 'pack' with the manual, wax, and cleaning cloth as I'm sure the UK distributor would like to have words with the shop
+1 if new you should have the pack which also includes spare strings ,allen keys ,truss rod adjuster. almost like a car pack . great bass though once setup ,keep us posted if you do contact warwick
 5.
no i dont think its an oil finish....it was really funny when buyin it cause all the staff members would not stop watching me (it waseither my slick bass skills or they probs thought i was gunna steal it lol)
i think it is a oiled and waxed finish by the look, mines in antique tobacco did you get the handbook and folder with tools and wax plus spare set of strings. nice bass
 6. glad i am not the only one to that did that .my wife was in fits at the bass centre site ,and the gallery saga was the icing on the cake . weird sense of humour women have so next visit to london ,the gallery is top of the list
 7.
Ill mostly be using it in my newer band doing a rather strange mix of music, it certainly fits the Kings Of Leon and Doors stuff nicely (think the KOL guy uses an EB3 actually?). I've got a one off gig with my old Hendrix / Cream / blues band and the sound will fit that perfectly as well. It really is a lovely bass, took it to rehearsal last night and it played beautifully. A touch of fret buzz at 10th fr D string but nothing a decent set up wont fix.
got back from london yesterday and catching up here , re the bass centre shop is history now a office phoned the new number and spoke to tom who sold me my $$ . he says they are purely internet now ,no shop anywhere. never got to go in the gallery, went that way but saw shutters down looked run down so did not try .have read there is a security lock to get in ,but will try next time i am in london probably dec. seems i missed a great place .
 8. here is the promised pic of my $$ tobacco corvette sorry for the delay .plus i enclose a pic of a telecaster type i built from a kit, plus my fortress
 9.
Me likey. A corvette $$ is my dream bass. I very nearly paid out for a Corvette Standard as a first bass because i fell for the shape as soon as i wondered aimlessly onto the Warwick site. It will be mine... Oh yes. It will be mine... Jesus
very pleased with my $$ must take some pics
 10.
I had an attempt on drums for about a year, just fancied having a go,and did do a couple of dep gigs with a band,(think they were a bit forgiving tho)That problem tho the noise when learning annoyed the neighbours :dont know why. Apart from not being good enough,it was the setting up and dismantling of the kit that put me off....but the experience was well worth it... On one occassion the drummer was stuck in traffic and i set his kit up and sound checked it for him,the band was impressed. So good luck with the bass playing
hi , i was a drummer in my teens played several bands ,always fancied bass but my mate was the bass player . took up bass about four years ago and love it . i find it has helped having drumming skills . welcome to a friendly bunch of lads and lasses, great site
 11.
Updated Sorry to hear about this, John. I'm watching your thread with concern, and hope that you get it sorted quickly and calmly. The first thing I do in that sort of situation is take a long walk. That way nothing/no one around the house gets broken.
well my hartke ha 3500 was sent via UPS to Jersey from leeds 22/5/08 , got lost traced and has now been delivered 4/6/08 back to shop in leeds . what a shower of ******* got to be resent now
 12.
If there was ever a good time to get a great deal on a second hand Warwick, now is the time. Keep your eyes on ebay but try some out before you commit your money to it. I fully agree with the sentiment of Warwicks being like "marmite". If you get the chance to try out any older Warwicks you'll really notice the slimmer necks and slightly smaller frets, IMO these two aspects quite massively change the playability of the old ones against the new ones. My 98' Warwick Thumb plays much nicer than my 06' Streamer Stage 1 because it's really worn in and has the slimmer wenge neck. However the Streamer is *almost* my perfect gigging and recording bass because it sounds so good and it's light. My Thumb stays at home in my room on a stand and it gets played a lot but I doubt I'll ever play another gig with it. You'll find that the range of Warwick basses varies a lot within that signature "growly!" tone. It's important to try out as many as you can to get a good idea for what they offer and how all those different body shapes feel.
very happy with both my warwicks ,the double $$ is awsome . but try first its a personal thing some like some do not . not keen on fenders but that does not mean they are bad just not my thing at present . end of the day its what you like
 13.
Fabulous sounding basses those double-buckers, you'll love it! Best "band" tone I've ever had was from a Warwick Thumb BO, how I wish I still had that bass
received my double $$ today awsome . still waiting for my hartke amp ,UPS seem to have mislaid it somewhere so are now tracking it down . not very good . bass came via TNT from the bass centre .10/10 to them for service
 14. hi all just a thought ,as the double buck uses passive pups ,but a active circuit. so which input on the amp do i use passive or active . may be a silly question but i had to ask
 15. cheers cannot wait ,still waiting for my hartke 3500 to arrive .so with a bit of luck both will turn up together
 16. well bit the bullet and ordered a corvette double buck in antique tabbaco 4 string from the bass centre ,thought about trying the new american fender jazz standard but not a great fender lover just me i guess . perhaps next buy . my fortress is well put together for a rockbass so w. corvette should be too ,the necks on warwicks are fine for me .
 17. hi anyone bought one yet , the 2008 american standard jazz . if so whats your opinion on them .
 18. nothing wrong with warwick john entwistle was a user allthough he did go to status , my preference is warwick and ricks . i sometimes wonder about why people go for fender . alright in their day but far better bass out there . not slagging fender or those that really like them , but the choice is so varied these days each to their own .
 19. hi all anyone any experience with this model . opinions good or bad welcome .does it stand out or flop ?
 20.
That was the time when they had no competition as well.
thought it was just me when i went to the bass cellar asked about a s/h 4001 rick he hardly took his eyes out of his paper muttering something about the price so i walked . the bass centre i have found friendly and helpful .
