Looks like Skyline production is now Indonesian: Talkbass thread - see post 114 Basspraiser says there: "We also got to try some of the Skylines out that Jauqo mentioned in his post about “Skyline quality”……as some of you may know, rumor has it that Cort is closing the plant in Korea…as such, Dan had to move the production……based on input from Cort and other factors, the Skylines are now made at a Cort plant in Indonesia…….After trying out a few of the basses from the first shipment, I can say that they are as good if not better than the Korean Skylines. As Jauqo mentioned, they are lighter and very well put together! Dan is excited and impressed about the quality coming out of the plant. He mentioned that he thinks the reason the quality is so good is the fact that the Skylines are the “top of the line” for the particular plant and, as such, they are getting extra care and attention and he intends to make sure it stays that way…..in addition, all of the Skylines are now getting PLEK’d…overall, Skyline quality has never been better…."
i think sometimes these countries try that little bit extra because they are keen for the business for their economy. a friend of mine went to the singepore grand prix and as they left the stands all the stewards and other workers clapped them in apreciation for coming to the event .not something you would see in the western world .
 2.
Thats a magnificent come back!
thank you i do like their cabs though
 3.
And because a £120 practice amp went boom, that's reason to say a £1k+ amp will too? Fair enough but the ABM EVO II is a valve preamp, and the MAG EVO II is a solid state preamp.
mag 200 went bang no fan five fifteen went bang but was fixed by bass centre after 6months ,with both those going has made me cautious about the brand . spoke to others that had similar problems .if the mag could have been fixed i would have fitted a fan myself .
 4.
My ABM has a fan. My MAG had a fan. Do you know what a fan looks like? What do they put in the water in Jersey?
mag 200 no fan hartke 3500 has a fan , yes i do know what a fan is what is your problem , being a mechanical tech for jersey water i need to
 5.
might be selling my abm 2x10 if the price is right.
well my ashdown amp went phut ,was told because they did not use fans in their build ,£1600 i do not think so rather have my hartke 3500 .
 6.
Yep I tried some (9050s I think), found them roughly finished and not overly pleasant tonally. Went to D'addarios and use them all the time now, but have recently got into GHS flats too.... they are superb from new (ie dont really require 'playing in' to get the best tone from them) and they are so smoov on your fingers..... I really quite like them.
well flats arrived yesterday ,put them on my fortress last night really improved the tone .fender 9050s nice and smooth well finished i am well impressed. anyone tried any on a $$ or am i pushing it a bit as the sound of the $$ awsome
 7.
You could always watch what the 5 string one goes for. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/FENDER-JAZZ-BASS-ACT...1QQcmdZViewItem Unfortunately I got bored with his photos half way down and gave up looking. Saying that I'd rather have too many than not enough.
well £155 so far big difference to what this one is asking £895
 8.
it's very pretty..
yes it is but is it worth it , not very up on fenders apart from jazz and p
 9.
dunno about rarity but it wins the "most ever photographs in an eBay ad" competition by a country mile
could bind it and sell it as a book , nice colour though

 11.
Played a Lakland Skyline 44-01 amongst others today, and I have to say, this is probably one of the best basses I have ever played. So easy to play, and it's just the right weight aswell. Compared it with some Fender Highway 1's, and this comes out on top. Looking to upgrade and considering selling my current Ibanez to get a Skyline, however does anyone have any other recommendations for good basses around the same price? (£669) Cheers!
good to hear (another one to try )must put that on my list ,so you found the build quality good too then
 12.
I have Ernie Ball flats on my Dolphin, they sound great. I'll probably try some other brands, I had the EB's kicking around in my gig bag so put them on. I didn't go as far as Roto Tru-bass, I just didn't think they would work.
oops almost went for the ernie ball flats ,oh well we will see. might even try on my $$
 13.
I've owned both the Geddy & the Miller basses. The Geddy is a lovely looking thing & great sounding. Both have the stock japanese made vintage pickups which are prone to a bit of the earth hum (you don't get this on Americans). The finish on the Geddy is perilously thin. I knocked a lump out of mine on the back & I'm really careful with my instruments! The neck on the Geddy (especially if you use lighter guage strings) is seriously prone to changing shape with the weather due to it being shaved so thin. The finish & detailing on the Miller is astounding & the only real minus is the preamp which can be a bit harsh if you're an eq hooligan like me! I used to run mine passive & put it through my Sadowsky outboard preamp. Fantastic sound! Rich.
hi rich the miller seems the better option ,like the natural finish too ,i am thinking of getting a sadowsky outboard anyway whatever i get so i think the miller will be on my list of might be's .
 14.
Mine hardly moves from week to week and virtually nothing during a gig
sounds good to me
 15.
Same experience with a SS1 and Thomastick flats - a very good "old style" sound, but may need a tweak or two (not difficult on a Warwick).
anyone tried the fender flats ? seems i should have ordered thomastick flats . oh well will give them a try .
 16.
The Ged is a nice bass & seems to hold its value reasonably. Titchy neck though which, I may add, was fine until I inherited a 'Ray and started swapping between the 2! Apparently the new ones have a satin neck which must make it even better...
mmm might have problems with my warwick then ,does it distort being that thin as my warwick stays in tune for ages
 17.
dunno mate, but i do like the bass in your avatar never seen a a corvette $$ in that colour, i really like it.
antique tobacco is the colour got it from the bass centre ,love the colour matches the neck .
 18. hi i see a lot of people rate the fender geddy lee sig bass ,right colour for me too .is there any common faults on this bass or short comings . also the marcus miller sig . which is the most popular with you ? sorry for all the questions ,just trying to get a good picture of the models availiable .
 19. interesting post as i am going down the same road ,also thought about fender american standard with sadowsky box , but am leaning towards lakland darryl jones in black .going to gallery in december so will see what they have .
 20.
I was a little wary of putting flatwounds on my SSII at first too, because I thought (probably the same as you) that it would detract somewhat from the growly, bright characteristics that most Warwicks are known for. However, I put on a set of Thomastik flats and was pleasantly surprised. The tension was a lot higher though, so a little adjusting of the truss rod was needed to maintain the same action. The sound was great, totally different to the sort you get with roundwounds, very vintage! I'd highly recommend putting them on your Fortress if you're after a 50's/60's style sound. Let us know what you decide to do either way
think i will give them a try ,will certainly put up my findings cheers
 21.
hi, basically i got two questions, so here goes the first one. if i have 4 castors that say they can take 70kg each, does this mean that when i screw all 4 castors to the bottom of my cab, is the maximum total load still 70kg? Or do I add up all the castors, making a total maximum load of 280kg? thanks and heres the second question: i just bought some castors, but they did not come with any screws. these are the ones: i need to attach them to a warwick 211 pro plywood cab. i cant open the cab up to thread bolts onto the screws, so the screws are just gonna have to stay in without bolts somehow. anyway here are the specs of the castors: 75mm Light Duty swivel Castor Grey Rubber Wheel Ref: PLM75GRT Overall Height : 98mm Wheel Size : 75mm Wheel Type : Grey Rubber Plain Bearing Load Rating : 70kg Fixing Plate Size : 60 x 60mm Bolting Centres : 48/38 x 48/38mm Bolt Size : 6mm can anyone point me in the right direction for some screws that will work good with them? many thanks guys!
280kg as the load is spread over the four
 22. was thinking of trying flats on my fortress, good or bad idea ? it has p/j pups
 23. well in the market for a jazz bass ,going to the gallery next month . have narrowed it down to a lakland skyline darryl jones sig in black , or outside chance of a fender american standard but the fender seems from what i have read suffers from quality control. only fender i might concider is a jap one if i can obtain one .sadowsky are a bit out of my . league.might enquire about a j retro fitted or external sadowsky pre.
 24.
i've also got my eye on the sadowsky pre, i'd like an answer to this one too....
thats two of us then
 25. just bouncing some ideas . my $$ is fine ,but my fortress has not got the growl . was thinking of getting a sadowsky preamp external . as i am thinking of getting a passive type jazz either a fender or lakland. will the preamp give my fortress a bit extra . also could the preamp even give my $$ a bit more . or am i living in never never land .
