  1. Yes, the body lights up too - its an acrylic bass from aliexpress with blue LEDs - as per here:
  2. Two gig weekend. Night one, first time in a local pub (only lived here 20 years and been playing with this band for 7!), so didn't know what to expect, very small pub. Setup in the corner, very hot then people started coming in, and kept coming in. Setup, the sound seemed ok at front but I really couldn't get much sound from the bass in my iems - no idea why, and the bass speaker was slightly in front of me. The sound where i was wasn't great. As a result I didn't really enjoy the first half and I played really hard. For some reason my EHB strings seem really tight. Second half I switched to my acrylic bass - if I couldn't hear it and it was hurting, I might as well dazzle the audience right? The output of the acrylic isn't high, unlike the action, but I boosted my iem levels in the break and it seemed better. But so hot, luckily the guitarist had brought a fan. Very up close and personal gig, by the end of it my fingers hurt a lot. After the gig we got a lot of good comments, although the only ones I got personally were they liked the bass! Realised I had done some damage, and sure enough got blisters, which wisely I popped. Bought some plectrums on saturday, and went out to do another local club - we had never played the general room there, just the event room at other peoples request, but I had played the front with other bands. A lot more room, still hot but with a fan and an open window. Started off quiet but was soon heaving. Did the first half with the #1 ibanez that I hadn't used for a while, remembered why I liked it. Second half I did with the acrylic as it seemd that sort of venue. Everyone up and dancing and quite lively. Had to play everything with a plectrum, and can't say it is the way I play. although ok for most of the songs, but some things I really can't do - Impression I get, Alright now, poker face, so made a few mistakes trying plectrums on that. Anyway after that gig, lots of nice comments - one woman who came out to see us having seen us in another pub said that we were the best live band she had ever seen - I pointed out that maybe she needs to get out more - A lot of 'you were great lads' and offers of other gigs. Always nice to hear when you finish anyway.
  3. I must admit I don't understand it either, to me if a preamp with all the knobs flat doesn't sound exactly the same as the passive output into a high impedance preamp with a good cable, then it is defective, but on the other hand, if it's your bass, you can do what you want to it!
  4. Indeed - even Rod Stewart has his fans who think he does good songs I would imagine! But no, it isn't even musical, it is a travesty, and I like some of there other stuff. I guess they needed the money!
  5. Well, not good, but at least it isn't the abomination that they made as a single, so I guess that is an improvement. Sh*t with glitter on it.
  6. I really don't get why you would want that mod - it just changes the level between active and passive, and is ultimately the same thing as turning up the volume on your amp isn't it - or do you just want to drive the pedals harder?
  7. Would certainly be an issue if it happened on mine - the DI goes to the desk which goes to my in-ears, so I would be very aware of it. Took me a while fiddling around with effects pedal power supplies to get rid of noise from those because of this reason. That is what I liked about the ABM600 - I have no idea what sounds right about it, it just does.
  8. And how often do you get a power supply failure? When gigging, external power supplies to me are such a pain in the aris, if there are two items, one is slightly better than the other one but has an external power supply, I am going to get the other one.
  9. I shall also bring my acrylic bass, so we can all have a laugh
  10. For me that is a complete no
  11. Which in itself didnt relate to what I posted, which was that ibanez license pickups don't sound anything like any of the batolini pickups, where they are licencing the name. But I thought I would let it go. And no, it has nothing to do with 'listening with your eyes' - I got rid of my 805 as the bass didn't work for me with the pickups it had, even though the bass was good. The main problem was that the only people at the time who did a replacement pickup that would have made it work for me was Nordstrand, who did a custom wind in that size for close to £350, and I couldn't justify that cost on a bass which cost me just over £600, when I had several other ibanezes.
  12. Yeh, don't have to go crazy there!
  13. I have it on my iPhone, in case I forget the iPad at some point as it happened once.
  14. I always found phasers to be a bit weak on basses. I love them on guitars, but on the bass they seem often a bit passive.
  15. I wouldn't say 'Mixing station' as I don't like it, but I would say 'why did you need to update the iOS device you use with your mixer', what did you need the update for? The iPad i use with my mixer cost £90, and that is what it does, gigging stuff. The only time it would be updated would be if the gigging stuff needed it.
  16. The BH1/2 (the original 805 had BH1s) have never been made by Bartolini themselves (and ironically they don't make anything that fits that).
  17. Yeh, I hate it when the ABM decides to shift my whole playing down by 1 semitone like I started in the wrong place
  18. Yes, mine had no neck relief and the action is too high. But I will still play it for a bit in a pub on saturday! Maybe I will get a chance to put a resistor in to tone down the LEDs first though
  19. I am a big fan of the X-Airs, they are what made the digital mixers a thing that groups like mine could use, but I do see the A&H as a more premium offering - if I was in the market from scratch I would certainly consider that. As it is I have over 100 gigs down with the X18 and I have 100% faith in the behringer which I have in very little equipment, so personally I wouldn't change from this to that. But if you don't have that history, I can see it being a good option.
  20. Obviously they are not the same designs, or they would sound the same. I used to think they were until I had actual barts on the 5005 and another bass I had and found they were night and day different.
  21. Hard to take a picture of something thats seethrough in the dark! But playing it tonight, it plays quite well. It isn't well setup, but with a little adjustment it should be good! Think I will have to put a brightness knob on it, it is a little bright!
  22. My ABM600 is very quiet on the DI, no noise at all.
  23. Indeed - where are the apostrophe police when you actually need them!
  24. I did a search - if I search for "feedback for miles'tone" I get nothing, as I suspect the ' character is "Use this word (tone). However, if I search for feedback for miles tone I get it straight away
  25. It isn't - the best way was for me to write something which modified the HTML output of the main page to provide the clue to the adverising framework, but that was quite a bit of work, I have quite a lot on that pays money, and I was too lazy to write it. But technically I am not sure what the technical difference between writing the HTML output and using a cookie is? why is one bad and one ok? They have the same zero output ouside the site. I am guessing the google analytics stuff and maybe security for the invision license
