  1. True, they had to quickly run out and buy a rock music record to cover the dreary wailing noise, good point
  2. Yeh - not a fan on that. DId one gig with the last group that did that. Opened with it, as always. Group after us, opened with it. Group after them. Opened with it. To be fair, if we had been the second or third group we wouldn't have done it if the first group had.
  3. That’s true, which means there are loads of bands doing it so I don’t need to!
  4. Love the finish, which is why my Maruschyk elwood is pretty much the same (apart from red), mat red with the black grain lines, in between songs i generally trace the lines while I am waiting for them to stop faffing (or the guitarist tuning between songs in gigs, can trace a lot of lines in that time).
  5. Well, I haven't any specific plans, but I am pretty sure I will do by the time I finished! It is very enjoyable to do so it would seem unlikely that there wouldn't be.
  6. I guess its normal but every single time I do anything I have the 'well next time I do this..' feeling!
  7. I got a comfort strapp and that works nicely
  8. I don't - holding a grudge is an important thing in life
  9. I completed the most important part of my build this week, which will help everything else: Yep, a shed, now I can do stuff that isn't outside! But having been busy all week and last weekend it has been slow progress. Never mind, I have next week off. But tonight I got a chance to do stuff, so I made a template for working out where the machineheads go on the neck, I placed and drilled the holes for the controls, in collaboration with my wife. I started work on the shaping of the arm rest bit, rounded off the corners (need to learn how not to burn the wood and chipped a few bits) I took out more wood in the electronics hole (need more out but I am taking that one slowly), and met with the long lost hole for the cables that I drilled when it was still two pieces of wood. Still rough in places, loads of things to correct but no major messups so far and nice to feel I am getting somewhere!
  10. Steve Hackets shows were pretty spot on though!
  11. I think they are one of those things that would drop money a lot, you see quite a few bongos around going for a long way below the buying price - one in the marketplace right now.
  12. My new wrongo sounds way better than it should. Not the best but it is pretty good
  13. He is. When you put earplugs in or go outside the room so you can hear them properly you hear how good they are!
  14. I didn’t either, I just liked the narrow spacing. It’s good but turns out I don’t have a need for the high string!
  15. Ahh, see here for me is the grey area. When I said I didn’t like the dressing up thing for tribute bands, there are a few certain groups where this is different, those groups when the group and the theatre is more about the show than the music, such as kiss, pink floyd etc. For those groups the dressing up is the show, I mean it doesn’t really matter who is in the costumes or on stage, the show matters a lot more
  16. No, it is a 6 string width that doesn't get wider when it gets to the bridge , or at least a 6 string ibanez width, 5 string ibanezes are generally thinner than that. Obviously there are 6 strings that are much wider, I assume the BTBs are.
  17. It has narrow string spacing at the bridge end which is perfect for that, although it does have quite a wide neck as it is a 6, so that offsets it a bit! I didn't realise until I gigged it how much I relied on the top string to work out where I was.
  18. Have a bit of flexibility on the price as I will put it on eBay soon and that is a few percent off!
  19. Well, you seem to have got an accurate picture of them then!
  20. Why? Seems reasonable to me. If I have told my group I really don’t want to do a song and they still insist on doing it, it clearly demonstrates what they think about my opinions. On the other hand I love doing brown eyed girl. Not the van Morison version obviously, the ska version
  21. Although not agreeing with the sentiment of the sad nonsense, I would say an orchestra is not a tribute band, it is much more a cover band. Unless it is one of those Mozart only orchestras in the wigs!
  22. I wouldn't have really thought of a '80s tribute group' or a 'grunge tribute' group as tribute groups, I would just take them as 80s or 90s themed cover bands. To me a tribute is a one group thing, beatles or oasis or whatever. We have an 80s themed cover group down here, and they are pretty good at at and always fun to watch.
  23. I would also say, if something feels wrong sometimes you have to decide to go with your feelings. My only other rule apart from sending to the registered address is that if someone messes you around it is probably best not to deal with them.
  24. In my world, there would be no way to make that right!
