  1. Well, I would certainly love one of those. The steinberger strings seem pretty cheap (30 quid for a 5 string set), then there are the BassCentre ones, again sort of cheap, but I want to buy something from either andertons or Gak that is £79 and at £100 you get free shipping. If I have to buy string anyway, I can get them at the same time and get £5 off, but not much good if they don't fit. The strings on the B2V at the moment would make James Jamerson thing they are a bit dull..
  2. Steinway? I meant steinberger, not steinberg, they are the software company (who I suspect dont' make strings).
  3. My B2V needs new strings, and I know you can get those little clamps for it but thought I would treat it to some double ball ends. Seems the choices are limited. there are there Steinberger Guitars SST-111 sets that are pretty cheap and available but I read somewhere someone saying they only fitted the original steinbergers, not the hofner, but can't find anything to back that up (and guessing the original steinbergers probably wouldn't have been 5 strings)
  4. Until I get something to replace my voice live and work out what to do about my loop station, I dont' actually have room for the SY1 and it lives on its own!
  5. haha - no I haven't ventured into arp, I am mostly in the pads with the occasional lead. Not a question of wanting tap tempo, yes, it would be a great thing, just a question of not having room for the pedal on my board!
  6. I had a V necked telecaster, it had a very good neck (for a telecaster).
  7. Thats the behaviour I would expect from my testing. I was tempted to get one but then realised that I didn't need it
  8. It works well, I didn't even know about the givaway as I had used it. I had to contact them for a code for the competition!
  9. If only there was an unsubscribe button on the emails!
  10. Take it to the repair shop as you know, it is old and tatty. I am sure they would be able to fix it right up.
  11. I was playing that last night and I thought the same thing!
  12. That's it though, I can't blot out conversation, but music just washes through me and more importantly, covers up conversation, which is why I need it at work as one of my coworkers makes it his life's ambition to make noise, he talks to himself and constantly eats, with all eating noises external. I can't actually deal with that at all
  13. I think that is the difference I have with my wife. If there is music she can't concentrate on anything else. I cant concentrate on what I am doing unless there is music, I use music at work to blot out the people so I can get stuff done.
  14. Yeh, and there are comments from the MD on the page appologising for the delays, so I think they messed up a bit with that and if there are that many delays, maybe holding off the heavy advertising until the were ready would have been a better idea? Still, early reviews seem pretty good. I figured that I can put the bass through my Bose S1 and play, which is just reverb, but there isn't much for the guitars, so if I had something small that could do both, it would be a win win.
  15. In all honestly, win it, ebay it straight away (or sell it wherever). Get myself something nice and still have some money left over. A vintage fender isn't anything I am interested in, they all have 4 strings, the jazz isn't a nice colour and P necks aren't nice. But there is an alpher custom I would get if I had the money, so I guess that is where it would go.
  16. carefully file down the headstock and put a new Squier waterslide on it. Then it will be just as good but noone will nick it Or trade it in for an Alleva Coppolo - I hear they are quite good!
  17. I prefer flame, or birds eye, but quilt is good too!
  18. Nope, for me it is essential. I do listen to less than I used to because my wife doesn't like things she doesn't like. I will listen to radio 6 or something, accepting that there is some songs on there I don't like, but there will be something later I do, that doesn't work for her, as soon as a track comes on she doesn't like it goes off and doesn't go on again. But when I am on my own I listen to music all the time.
  19. I guess it depends how you see the numbers. I mean junction 1 is london side, and it goes all the way down to high numbers in southampton.
  20. Indeed - each to their own, although it is hard to understand why you are critical of another manufacturers headstock with that as an example! To me, from an appearance point (and I have no idea what those are or how much they cost), the proportions are all wrong, it looks bulbous and the controls look like an afterthought. It looks kind of like if you made a fender of cheese and heated it a bit And I am not even going to start on the square of unfinished wood under the neck or the fact they couldn't be bothered to colour match the two halves. Obviously I have no idea what it sounds like (as I have no idea what it is). But clearly to you, it looks ok.
  21. Which isn't the road to hell, but certainly is the road to Basingstoke, so maybe he had a point
  22. Something to do with the Sovereign citizen movement, a bunch of US domestic terrorists. Probably as far as I want to go
  23. Indeed - this much I knew. I was just puzzled why it was being burned into the back of a bass.
  24. If we are being picky, a luthier is someone making lutes in France!
