  1. Well that is slightly different as the issuer of those proclamations actually knew they were lies when they said them!
  2. There is a massive difference between the two. I don't know why, there just is. The 2605 is way brighter and quite harsh, the 1605 is fuller. To be fair I like both of them and live obviously the differences aren't so pronounced, I just felt not much point having both, although I might just end up keeping them anyway. My 1505 was my favourite when I got it, then it went back, then my new shuker was my favourite when I got that, then the 1505 came back and not sure. I played at a practice for a gig that didn't happen though and the 1505 really shone. However, the shuker is still the looker and great to play, as long as you don't want to dig in. The EHB is more the angry kid on the block. But the other day I picked up the 1605 to play something and.. you know, like a favourite old pair of slippers? The EHB doesn't have big singles though, even if they look the same, it has big splits. Truth to tell it is not a lot of difference although they are humbuckers which means I can get near the valve amp. The variable mid is certainly better than the switch, on the 1505 (and on the original 5005 and 1000) and a bit easier to find what you are looking for. And also makes it easier to use with the shuker that has similar (but not the same) layout
  3. Don't have enough empty floorspace to do that Although I got rid of my GWB36 and my SRF705, so I am just left with the 5005, 1605, and 1000. Well, and the 2605 that I haven't sold. But I think that is my lowest level of SRs for a while. But I have the EHB1505 to take up some slack.
  4. Certainly, anyone putting a drink on my amp or speaker is at risk of death
  5. Nope, that is fine I spec'd this. And it is just how I want it.
  6. Clearly the top one is a SR5005 Presige, which is how this thread started! I must admit that I am puzzled why its TRC is sitting on the strings though
  7. @Al Krow messages me every few months to rename this thread from NBD: My SR range continues to something more inclusive. I finally caved, so here is a rename!
  8. I was forced to by the fact the treble wasn't working. Any other bit wouldn't have worried so much. Spent ages looking for a 4 pot one to fit, but I had got a glockenlang on here and it is a good preamp. Would be nice to get one of the newer preamps from the EHB series as they are 4 pot (or 2 stacked) and sound great, but as it is I am happy with how it sounds. Lovely bass although I am sure that in a 3 hour gig I end up slightly shorter on one side by the time I am done!
  9. See that is one reason I dont use my CTM100 much. It is a perfect fit for the TC112 cabs, but only sideways! On my BC112 cab it fits perfectly if it is sideways!
  10. I have one of those, but probably a bit older (or not as well looked after). The gold has faded a bit. I have replaced the 3v 4 band EQ where the treble and sweep didn't work with a 3 band glockenlang 9v one, which works well, except one of the 4 knobs no longer does anything and the switch is missing as it has a push pull bypass on volume. I should put an LED in the hole or something!
  11. I don't mind a depth change, or as I said if they all do it, its when one doesn't do what the others do.
  12. What reasons? Obviously your reason is your reason, but the signal comes down the 13 pin, so you can just feed it to the other amp then if all you want is the signal. Obviously if you actually want two physical leads from the bass, you could do that too it just wouldn't give you anything extra
  13. I have the right on stamps which are good, a few of the couch straps, but my last one was the most expensive as I had a bit of difficulty getting a turquoise one and that came from Denali also have some tanglewoods, an Ernie ball, a fender, a Maruszczyk wide one, and a few no names
  14. Strings that change angle after the nut, unless that angle fans out like an explorer
  15. Adverts with cats in. Especially adverts with a cat sitting in the case. Sorry, not coming in my house, my wife is alergic to cats, not worth the hassle.
  16. With the GR20, if you haven't put your signal input into the 13 pin, you would only have the synth output from the GR20, not a mixed signal. The signal from the cable from the pickup would go through the separate lead. I will say (because I have done it), it is a big pain using two cables from one bass, especially dissimilar ones (and the 13 pin cable is a bit thicker than the normal one). Is there any reason you can't get the signal from the GR20 into your other amp anyway?
  17. There are sticky pads that work without the clamp. The advantage of the external thing is that you don't need to make any holes in your bass. I certainly wouldn't use the internal kit until i was sure it was the bass I wanted it permanently mounted in.
  18. I use a line6 sonic port too. Stopped working for a while, but software update sorted that. probably means you can find a lot of cheap ones.
  19. Must admit it seems like easier to put the headphone amp in line with the headphone lead rather than in the bass, but if you have one bass I guess it works ok.
  20. Not sure what you are asking here. The piezo and the GK13 are only joined if you join them. Traditionally you connect the output of the instrument you have so that it goes through the 13pin cable as well, so you can play either with the jack socket, or the 13 pin cable or both. But if you connect your output to the GK kit, all you are doing is routing your pickup down the wire (and optionally swiching it on or off with the GK mix switch. You can connect the output of the GK synth anywhere, and separately connect the jack socket to another amp if you want. There are no volume up down buttons on the GK kit, or is this something else you are fitting. There are S1 and S2 buttons, which you could assign to volume (although I think they are per patch buttons so that would be a lot of assigning). It seems just the opposite - seems you are making what is quite simple a lot more difficult. What is wrong with the normal fitting - you are already making holes in your bass for the kit, it seems just adding a bit more awkward in its use, and if you are using a SY1000, making a section of it less functional.
  21. I gig with an iPad. but there are plenty of cheap options depending what faff you need
  22. How robust is it to chipping and damage?
  23. Undoubtedly but at that price it is good, especially for live
  24. Literally no. I have tried. I can't make a finish with a spray can (which is what I have) that looks professional.
  25. Sounds like a good idea for a cover, although that doesn't make that sort of finish does it, that is under the laquer.
