  1. Of course he could - that is all he ever goes on about.
  2. That was also one of her main concerns about the song!
  3. I don't know that track To be fair, most terrorist groups are fairly specific.
  4. I was wondering that about certain lyrics. There was a lot of controvasy about Lana Del Rays Ultraviolence lyrics, especially the line "He hit me and it felt like a kiss". I had read something saying that she doesn't sing that anymore, so I looked on youtube, and there is a gig of it from 2019 (I am guessing there wasn't much touring since), where apart from the first time, she litterally puts her hand in front of her mouth for that song. Which seemed odd as the lyric is certainly still there (and they are her own backing vocal tracks).
  5. I assume so - then they can save it for their solo album! I guess it depends on the band, and if they are the only songwriter or not. But words get changed because people don't like them all the time, both before recording and afterwards.
  6. It would be even worse sung by a dad!
  7. Yes, it is popular at weddings.
  8. I seriously doubt it - some of the lyrics of songs now are very hard hitting, and possibly more so than the ones of the past. I have never heard anyone doing a cover of Raceys classic 'Some girls will' but I suspect that is the level of saccharine involved. And in the past, we generally weren't doing covers, so people were happy with their own song. If someone is uncomfortable doing a song, or their audience is uncomfortable hearing it, then it wont get done, it doesn't mean they are wrong just because you don't care.
  9. I am a big fan of stevie nicks 80s work and not really seeing that much of a sound similarity. I can't think of a SN track that that sounds like either, but I only have the albums up to The other side of the mirror, maybe her later work. Miley cyrus has always sounded pretty much the same. I guess they both have a bit of the sheep bleat effect to them, and they are both a bit nasaly but Mileys voice has a different peak in hers. If anything I would say that Miley is trying to channel her inner Dolly Parton.
  10. You don't get a lot of groups doing old Gary Glitter songs, and there arent many dodgy words in there.
  11. The last bit wasn't necessary. That is why I don't do oasis!
  12. Oh that is clever then. Post it on youtube, make it the defacto standard
  13. But they were certainly bigger than Rod
  14. Not more of that cancel stinky poo! You can't cancel something, that is just a right wing meme. If you don't want to do something you don't do it, its not cancelling it. If your audience don't want to listen to it, its not worth doing it, its not cancelling it.
  15. Couldn't find any Ladies? I would if it was the awful Peggy Lee version. Just because of the mess they made of those lyrics. My wife used to do the original and didn't have problems with that.
  16. What is she ripping off? She sounds very much like Miley there (in that I would know it was her without the video)
  17. It is not even slightly an anti slave song.
  18. From what I read sometime ago, that isn't even slightly true, in they were saying the marjority of deaf people like music. Unlike excluding blind people who can't get much out of a light shows, music can be easily felt by anyone.
  19. https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/zbvht39
  20. Its really hard to try these things at the moment, not only are there fewer keyboards around, shops are less keen on you touching them. Not that you can really get the feel for much in a shop. The build of the Modal stuff is excelent. If there is any downside I would say the amount of operators is a restriction on the argon, although it hasn't held me up. Maybe in the future the lack of loading wavetables might be an issue, although I have a blofeld and I have never loaded any on that.
  21. If you actually feel uncomfortable doing them then bring it up, is it not suppsoed to be for enjoyment or is it the day job? My wife refused to do brown sugar as the singer in the last group I was in with her, but that was easier as she wasnt a fan of the stones either (or am i) so happy to drop it. I certainly wouldn't do blurred lines. The guitarist always has a bit of a problem with doing billy jean because of the jaco connection - but he changes his mind, if he really didn't want to do it (like any song) we wouldn't. Doing Tubthumping, by chumbawumba makes me feel uncomfortable!
  22. Love it, its really well made. Some things on the front panel are not immediately obviously but with the iPad app showing the whole thing it becomes pretty easy to work out. The sounds are amazing. I am however caught in the normal 'I want more keys' / 'if I had more keys I wouldn't play it' dilema! And it has to be said, aside from my piano, this has the nicest keyboard of any of my synths.
  23. We had that. The guitarist declared them horrible in 2 minutes and couldn't use them, so went back to his normal 'speaker behind his knees and constantly turning it up because he can't hear it'. The singer didn't like it but he is coming round to it. I love it, the drummer has a wired IEM and loves it. When I got a set for my wife in another band (which sadly fell apart the last practice) telling her that some people have difficulty getting used to them, she decided they were the best thing ever and why didn't I set that up for her years ago.
  24. I suspect for a lot of them their route to sucess isn't all that different. Taylor swifts dad was a music exec guy so that probably gave a head start, (not that that means she didn't work for it), Beyonce actualy got famous as part of a group before going solo, and Lana Del Ray was quite specific about her success..
