  1. Update - Now £875 and for sale, was previously just for trade. Made in USA in 2013. It was blue, and then had a DIY strip, then oiled, not a pro job by any stretch, just fun and functional. The back of the neck was sanded to get the lacquer off, this gave it a vintage vibe / blend to where the lacquer remains at either end, which I tried to photo. Lindy Fralin pickup, regular wind 👌 Matt black single ply guard, from same maker/material as the 90s EBMM guards. Marks from truss rod adjustment are pictured. Weight is approx 3.9kg / 8.7lb Wearing TIs in photo, but is now string with Fender flats. Great bass, but oddly for me my CS Jazz is getting much more love and attention, so this advert scratches an itch as I don’t like seeing a bass just sit there. Sorry, I’m not into trading by post, and collection from Chesham, Bucks please.
  2. Cheers for the link, bought back good memories, I worked there for a many years - started in Andy’s in 1993, aged 15. Graham Noden was a mentor and we still get on great. Brian and me used to hang out at Andy’s, chatting about weed and music mostly, and I offered Crispin from Regents his first job in Denmark Street when I was managing Regents Sounds. Tom from Wunjo was a mate from teen years. So yeah, really nice to read from them all, and the other names that popped in the process. I’m still close to Ron, who owned Roka’s and Two-5 back in the day, we often talk about how we both have a book in us about the behind the scenes shenanigans from our days there. Good times, even if it is just retail at the end of the day - and although some people on the street deserved a bad rep, it’s always a shame to read posts that paint everyone from Denmark St with the same brush - as arrogant, rude, failed rock star, wanna be rock star etc… that’s just bollox, I was there for a period of 12 years, in 10 shops, and although there were some tossers (like anywhere I suppose) I knew some awesome people that did a great job. Worked for a bit at Bass Centre and New Kings Rd after leaving the street, great places, but never the same buzz, not by a mile. Personally, mid to late 90s was really special there - not seen that vibe since amongst the staff and various shops, for me it felt it was really more connected back then, in a social way, and prior to Music Ground bringing a different vibe - but that’s 3 chapters of the book I suspect 😂
  3. I enjoyed owning one of these shortly after they came out in 2013, huge tone and lovely neck. Great bass. GLWTS
  4. I very much doubt the 66 Pure Vintage will do that - you’d likely need an overwound pickup for a darker sound. Though it messes with the mids a bit, so not for everyone. Things is Aston used a stock pickup, and his tone came from a ton of variables. I had a cool conversation will Al Anderson once and when we chatted about Aston’s tone he was like “he’d take the mids off everything and whack the bass right up!”. Family Man was the man.
  5. Paul bought a pickup from me - super easy sale, and friendly funny emails, top man 👌
  6. Thanks Colin for an easy, friendly, and swift sale. Enjoy the pedal mate.
  7. Definitely wasn’t my experience, the bass hadn’t even been checked and had multiple issues. Just saying as it’s worth checking with them, despite the website marketing.
  8. Sold some items to Joe, was a pleasure all the way. Cheers
  9. Was a pleasure to sell Mike some strings - cheers 👍
  10. Now £90 Great pedal, fully working. LEDs are so helpful to ensure the input level is not too low (sucking out tone), or too high (over squashed). Excellent on guitar too. Few marks and scuffs, see photos please. Royal Mail postage at cost. Cheers.
  11. Owen bought from me recently, quick and friendly comms and payment. Cheers pal.
  12. From a ‘63 AVRI, made in 2013. With original screws. Selling as I’m having a clear out. Postage via Royal Mail at cost. Thanks.
  13. Used, and no longer needed in our new home. Selling as I’m having a clear out. Postage via Royal Mail at cost. Thanks.
  14. Great strings, easy tension as they are light, and sound killer. Used for a few months, so beginning to get nicely broken in for you. I just prefer Thomastik. Selling as I’m having a clear out. Postage via Royal Mail at cost. Thanks.

  15. Made by WD Music, now Armstrong, so a quality guard. Fits my ‘64 Custom Shop Jazz Bass perfectly. Selling as I’m having a clear out. Postage via Royal Mail at cost. Thanks.
  16. £40 Came off a ‘63 AVRI, made in 2013. Was on the bass until last year - so has a naturally worn in look. Selling as I’m having a clear out. Postage via Royal Mail at cost. Thanks.

  17. Boxed and in perfect working order. Really lovely pickup. Selling as I’m having a clear out, gone back to my original 1995 pickup as I’m nostalgic, though this pickup was far more balanced, very much enjoyed using it, sweet tone. I’ve also had another one in my old shorty Ray, these pickups can be modded to a 4 wire option, for series/parallel/single, if you’d want to. Postage via Royal Mail at cost. Thanks.

  18. Almost, but not quite, looks like a Mike Lull bolt on style - I wonder if he worked on the bass in Seattle? Gave it a lighter body? Or someone copied his style perhaps.
  19. Why’s that? Just wondering. Assuming that if it’s due to the distance, you could either just use the supplied one with the 2 band (mount the output on the plate) or extend the wires for the jack on the new supplied one, so it reaches the original socket position (and have a dummy pot on the plate for aesthetics).
  20. Also, if you haven’t already, it may be worth checking the earth is still connected to under the bridge (downtown….😊)
  21. The Retrovibe Stinger is about £75 new, not tried one though. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/281890345393?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=gzZuqd4kSaq&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=DHJFo4GVQzS&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY The plates on an EB Ray are the same size for a 2 and 3 band. The difference is the output jack socket is on the side of the body on a 3 band EQ, not on the plate like a 2 band. The EB 2 and 3 band EQs have the pots attached to the circuit board, other pre amps are usually non mounted like that.
  22. If your soldering is fine, perhaps swap out the neck pickup pot, see how it is then. edit - or if you think it’s out of phase, I wonder if the white and black wires need swapping over, maybe the rewinding put them back the wrong way. Just a guess.
  23. Surely you can find ANOTHER way to justify this Bruce? 😊
