  1. Having contours put in crossed my mind a few times… was never brave enough to do it in the end. Cheers 👍
  2. Sept update: Due to a pending house move the bass is now in storage in Berkshire, so it will be a while until it is bumped again, I may bump it now and again though. But please direct message me if you find this advert and you’re interested. £2750 ono- The price on the listing was for when this was a trade only advert. It’s a 1964 Relic, 1 of 30 made for 2009 release, this one was made in 2008. I have the spec sheet if you need it. Weighs 8.98lbs / 4.08kg, great balance, very comfortable C shape neck and of course a killer tone. It’s not one of the thicker C shapes that some of the later ones have - this bass uncannily feels just like my old original 64. All original aside from the tone pot, which is now a series/parallel push/pull switch, gives you an extra fat tone option and loses nothing from the original. Original case and covers too. No trades please - cash needed for the new home! Unfortunately collection only at this moment. Cheers
  3. Cheers guys, I think I’ll put the price back up as this seems more a reflection on the market than the bass, and I’m not selling for cash flow reasons. Maybe time to withdraw and relist later in the year?
  4. I didn’t think it should matter how many pickups you have, would be surprised if so, but some folk will have better knowledge of that. Worth looking at John East preamps, I’ve had a couple of his and they’ve been excellent IMO. You can contact him too for advice, nice guy.
  5. To be fair, Fender never made it easy given their methods 👍
  6. This is from a ‘72 from Mr Baxter… Not sure the books always get it right 👍
  7. I’d be surprised if it was fake, there are some out there without the (r) E.g early 70s … maybe CBS were too tight to pay for the extra mark 😂
  8. Definitely do-able 👍 A tone control for the passive option may be helpful too. And if you really want to max out your options, depending on the pickups, you could add series/parallel switch, or coil split switch.
  9. Those were the days eh? The one in my avatar cost me £550 used in 1996…. The weight is 9.42lbs / 4.27kg Cheers
  10. Sounds great thanks, if only… 😊 I might be able to ship the bass, please PM if if you want to explore that option.
  11. In relation to the post above. I’d take £1800 to ‘rip off the band aid quickly’ 😖 These are very unique and special basses so I feel that’s a fair price this year.
  12. Cheers Bruce, I was always hoping never to sell, but just too damn painful to play a slab body these days, gutted.
  13. Woah… zombie thread revival 🧟‍♀️🧟🧟‍♂️ One of my first threads I think - was selling some 60s Fenders and wanted to get stuck into BC… joined 10 years ago this month, it’s been expensive 😂
  14. Agreed The original post was for your favourites, not necessarily ‘best’.
  15. Haha! Looking forward to seeing what you think. The A string action height might need raising btw, depends what you have on, but I often find it needs a tweak. Enjoy!
  16. 100% my fave on a Jazz (and anything else probably!) They definitely change in nature as they age so maybe see how it goes if you start off unsure. IMO they start great and just get better, getting warmer and smoother after a bit of aging.
  17. Yeah, the butterscotch and mint ones don’t have the 40th logo on the headstock rear… although the old page on the MM website always showed them with the 40th logo.
  18. Was a mate of mine, he’s well chuffed.
  19. Think I’ll be saying just that pal. Oh btw, may also trade for something purple… 😂
  20. ****Relisted 16th June due to a payment issue from an overseas buyer. £1750 - no trades please. Gutted to sell this, but the slab body exacerbates nerve issues I have. I’ve been holding onto it for ages regardless as the tone is stunning, but it now feels like the right time to look into selling. Unique StingRay, 10 pole pickup (not usual 8) and special Old Smoothie epoxy coated preamp work so well with the alder body, literally a smoother Ray tone yet still punchy. The video below tells the story of this 1976 prototype made for Sterling Ball and named by Leo Fender. It’s a 40th Anniversary Ltd Ed. I’ve always had flats on it, but it will be sold with rounds on. The back of the neck was glossy, I’ve rubbed off the top gloss which in my opinion now makes it much smoother and comfier to play. The case has some marks and a small crack, all pictured for full disclosure
