  1. Sold or withdrawn due to sellers regret? 😂 Thanks brother, appreciated.
  2. This is a feeler purely because I quit my job this week due to health reasons and have nothing lined up yet, so I’m thinking about having to sell this and thought I’d see if there is any interest? Trades and offers are a definite no, please don’t give it a try, thanks. Made in 2015, for the NAMM show according to the neck pocket. Nut width is like a Jazz Bass. Stunning fingerboard. Retrofitted Lindy Fralin P-Bass pickup and original Nordstrand Dual Coil Bridge pickup. When the Dual Coil is slightly blended in a bit there’s some real magic that happens with the P bass tone, tightened up but still very P bass. Nice and light, bang on 8lbs IIRC. Perfect balance, no neck dive. Has some marks/dings to the body. Nothing nasty. The back of the neck had a ding which I sanded out, this has taken away a bit of the wood stain. There is also a tiny bump inwards now, but can’t be felt when played - I’ll post a photo soon. Also a little ding was sanded out by the 4th fret. Current pickguard in the photos is a matte black one I had made, I may keep this, but I have an original black one made by Lull to include. Comes with original Lull branded bag/case and certificate. I sold this once before when I briefly got back my old 66 P Bass, was so pleased to get it back. Here we go again…
  3. Cheers pal, that’s your old preamp in there 👍 As much as I prefer the John East preamp in my ‘95, this works great on the shorty, and even better now the pickup can bypass the pots as it’s got some growl back when going through the preamp. Dead simple to put together, just needed an input jack, a switch wired like an active/passive one, and a battery clip converter for a 9v PSU. The plastic box and and Ernie Ball sticker are optional…
  4. Posting this mod I did on my EBMM short scale in case anyone is interested. - swapped out the neodymium pickup for an Aguilar AG4M (which I modded to coil split). The new MM neodymium pickups are excellent, but I just can’t get on with them and had the same issue on the Ray Special I owned for a few years. I have an AG4M in my ‘95 Ray so it’s nice to keep them in sync. - added a 3 way switch to keep the series/parallel/single option. - changed the pots to 250k and added a push/pull volume, to send the pickup straight to the output jack. This is because I turned an old EBMM 2 band preamp into a pedal and wanted to bypass the pots in the bass. There’s a photo of my first attempt of the pedal, think I’ll smarten it up in the summer with a better box too. Really love this little bass, and I’m glad the tone is now more in keeping with what I like. It’s got TI’s on it, and really compliments my ‘95 Ray and Old Smoothie. Wish they made these 25 years ago!
  5. I removed the pickup in my shorty, which is also a neodymium. That’s glued down.
  6. I posted a wanted advert, Mark replied and sold me a pickup. Super smooth deal and fast post, really pleased. Cheers Mark.

  8. Cheers for the pedal and easy sale Vyn, perfect 👍
  9. Thanks for an easy sale Dave, the bass is immaculate and just as described. I appreciate your great comms and safe packaging too. Cheers 👍
  10. You’re right that nitro finishes were phased out from ‘68. The seller says ist came from Seattle, so if it’s Emerald City Guitars he probably payed a fair bit over the odds, though their gear is usually pretty tasty.
  11. +1 @wintoidit’s a very good forum, free to list a guitar, and you’ve got a cool Nocaster there. GLWTS
  12. I’m in for sure. Shouldn’t be too hard as I just bought a bass on Xmas Eve that was unexpected, but one that had been very keen on getting for some time. My other 3 are keepers, and having 4 is already maxing me out for space. So, yeah, fingers crossed I can abstain. Also aiming to be more on the outernet than internet next year, so being off BC will be a huge help 😂
  13. Enjoying the ride is all the justification you need 👍
  14. Something tells me this is more a case of ‘which to sell first’… 😊 …I’ll leave exhibit A below, from a recent post of yours about basses in and out this year: Tune TXJ-4 in and out Dean edge pro in and out Yamaha bb350f x 3 in and out Yamaha Bb424x x 3 in and out Yamaha bb450 in and out Yamaha bb1300 in and out Yamaha bb300 in and out Yamaha SB-55 in and out Spector Euro LX in and out Yamaha Pacifica (one in, one out) Yamaha AEX in and out Alvarez Baritone in and out cordoba classical in and out Tobias Toby Pro in and out (tomorrow) Sadowsky HPJ out ebs 410 out ebs Reidmar out Yamaha bb1600 in Fender Aerodyne in Musicman Sabre in Fleabass (green toy thing) in Ashdown mk500 in Vanderklay 212 in ahem. I think that’s about right.
  15. In - ‘95 Music Man Stingray (a cherished bass I finally got back 😊) Out - Bravewood Jazz Bass, Music Man Stingray Special. A good year I think
  16. My 95 Ray has a very sensitive neck that needs adjustments quite regularly. It’s been like that for years, but never really bothered me. Other basses of mine, including MM, have never needed anywhere near as much adjustment as this one. Some folk say the Birdseye maple Rays are less stable, but I’ve seen that some are stable and fine so it could just be hit miss on them.
  17. Boxed & excellent condition. Comes with instructions and all original packaging. Has Velcro on the bottom. Fully working, no issues. Tasteful classic delay, with digital, tape, and analogue options, plus a modulation effect. Royal Mail 1st class signed for post included in price.
  18. It was for many budget guitar makes/models - but not so for Fender parts IMO, e.g. pickups, which is what I was getting at.
  19. Great quote That’s quite an interesting theory, I’m not sure what to make of that myself 🤔 Would they have been strayed from circulation in mass? Years in guitar shops taught me that people can pick up ‘dogs’ and think they are great - it’s all subjective I suppose, or just they have a lack of experience to compare it to? Don’t know to be honest. I’ve played a fair few pre CBS ‘dogs’ too. Could be the wood, or as the great Clive Brown once suggested, could be the neck and body don’t resonate in the same direction! But I bet you some folks will pick it up love that ‘pre CBS mojo’.
  20. Not necessarily - cheap old stuff back the was still actually pretty good compared to now. Many custom manufacturers still use the old materials used by Fender. The fact the pickups were hand wound is one large reason for tone differences I.e. under/overwound, the other reason is the nature of wood, as will always be. ‘Better’ is subjective imo 👍
  21. That’s ok - different spraying method.
  22. Will a custom pick up get you that tone? Not likely. (But you’ll likely get a great tone nonetheless). For example. years back when I bought a 64 P bass I tried it up against 6 others (pre CBS). All were good, and totally different. 2 really stood out, but the others were still good. None of them were ‘better’ than any modern bass. The feel of the bass is whole different thing. I’ve always felt there’s something so special about the wood used in the very early 60s, even student model Musicmaster and a Duo Sonic guitars I had from 1960 and 1961 were outstanding in feel and fullness of tone. The stack knobs and other Ps I’ve played were great too. That doesn’t mean I’m right about that particular period, just that I worked in the vintage trade for a good while and that was my experience. And yeah, it’s a crime not to play them.
