Holy crapppp!!!! you have some gear my boy!
Haha!!!! If only I did my friend, this one is just well needed cash to me right now!!! The irony eh? I've always wanted one yet need to pull in some cash. Selling the Strat was easy, selling this is a bummer. I couldn't be happier with this bass, finally I managed to buy it. A good pal of mine owned this bass and I fell for it the instant he first showed it to me. After some part exchanging, sideways dealing, little finger promises and a great deal of bass debate I managed to take it from him, victory. The waiting makes it sweeter as I felt like this bass was made for me when I first played it. It's light weight at 7.5lbs, sounds proper old school and is in my absolute favorite combination of ash body and maple fingerboard. It's sounds huge with flats, yet crisp and clear and oozing pure roots. It's a 2013 Limited Edition 1955 Relic, black over sunburst. It's a bit odd as it's 3 tone sunburst which really started in 1958. And it comes in a white tolex case which Fender only used in 1963-'64. I couldn't care less though, the Master Builders must have designed this on a wishlist whim. Happy, happy days and surely (er, hopefully) the last addition in my group of basses LINK TO PICTURES: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/tp0ul2eg77p3rvj/k8I6X-iHjP

If you haven't heard of Clive Brown, you really should check out the link below for pictures of this bass. He is without a doubt the UK's best relic artist, and works on the guitars of the stars. He is world renowned and known as an authority on vintage guitars. His work is so good that it continues to fool dealers and collectors alike. Clive has indicated he refinished the paint job on the bass via a stamp impressed into the wood in the control cavity. Clive uses the word 'restore' instead of 'refinish', if you see his work up close that makes sense. Anyway, the bass..... It's a gorgeous early 1957 Precision, made just before they changed the shape. I've spoken to Clive, he said that he refinished the bass and made a new pickguard for it. The rest appears original apart from a capacitor and couple of wires in the harness. The neck is simply amazing, the tone is clean, crisp and full and the bass is seriously light, weighing under 8lbs, which is rare for ash nowadays but typical for this period. I took this on a part exchange from a friend who took a pre CBS Stratocaster from me. He's a vintage collector and had no idea it was a Clive Brown refinish until I spotted the stamp, it really is that good! I'd love to keep this bass, players 50's basses rarely come up for sale but I need to recoup the money from the Strat, which is why I sold it in the first place. Sadly, I've got to let this one go. Comes with covers and a Gator hard case. Any questions, please feel free to PM me.
Hey guys, Well I finally got around to putting some flats on my old '75 P Bass! After playing around for a bit I've discovered that although i LOVE the tone from these things, i feel like the slightly extra bit of tension is going to make my RSI flare up again.. Originally I was tossing up between the Thomastic-Infeld flats (JF-344's i think where the ones) and the La Bella's.. I ended up not going for the TI's as i kept reading the tension was "weird".. BUT now i'm thinking that may suit me better! So, to the point, just putting it out there if anyone has a new-ish set of the TI JF344 jazz flats that they'd be interested in swapping for an essentialy brand new set of La bella deep talking flats? With extra cash/whatever, happy to discuss! Cheers Andy.
Hi, are these still up for a swap for TI's?

Perhaps the decal was on a strip that Leo used as bookmark for his Burt Weedon's Play in a Day? That'll be worth a couple of extra pounds perhaps? I'll drop Richard a line and explain again that eBay is for the prospective buyer to bid on only

Fender 60's P Bass - what type of wood is this please?
Chiliwailer replied to dodgnofski's topic in Repairs and Technical
Hey Tim, Yup, definitely a great bass from a great period. It looks like your 68 is the last of the old style necks too, before they went for the more common B shape with larger TV logo - which was around '68, so you got one of the last ones! You can just tell sometimes in pictures which ones the stunners are, that surely must be one of them. Tasty tuners, and the nitro cracking looks very sweet. So glad you finally got sorted! Take care matey -
That is a superb example Daniel, GLWTS. Hope you are still enjoying the Modulus. Regards mate, Paul
Hi Paul, Hope you're well. Yes, absolutely loving the Flea Bass, so much fun to play and sounds delicious! Certainly a keeper. Take care pal, Daniel -
Now £1500 No trades please. Up for sale is my Custom Shop, NOS, 1955 Precision. It's made in 2005 and has an ash body, quarter sawn maple neck and a maple fingerboard. It's a great player, sounds deep, crisp and full and weighs in at a shade over 9lbs without the covers and 9.40lbs with the covers. These 55's have body contours, so they are lighter, and in my opinion, more comfortable then the earlier slab styles. [s]It had flats on it but now has roundwounds. I can reinstall the flats if you prefer, the sound with flats was amazing to my ears, but then I am biased towards them. [/s]EDIT: I've put the flats back on, just sounds sooo good!!! This bass seriously fills up the room, the sound is so full, yet every note has presence and punch. These old style P Basses with the ash body and maple fingerboard combination really do make for a big big sound that's perfect for filling up space with warmth and depth, I love them and am lucky enough to have another 1955 Custom Shop Precision which I am keeping. I have no doubt that this one sounds much better than my Ltd Ed one I am keeping, and that's worth at least a grand more. I'm keeping the Ltd Ed though as it is super light at 7.5lbs, that's very rare indeed for a Fender. I'm based in Harrow, postage is also an option. Cheers! Fender 60's P Bass - what type of wood is this please?
Chiliwailer replied to dodgnofski's topic in Repairs and Technical
I just came across where you got this from, lovely bass!!! -
Yeah it's legit. Richard Henry is a decent bloke and long time vintage dealer to likes of Johnny Marr and Charlatans etc. If you check out his twitter you'll see he's a well linked up guy. He's also got it on Andy Baxters website as a commission sale. Now where did I leave that 5k.....

Fender 60's P Bass - what type of wood is this please?
Chiliwailer replied to dodgnofski's topic in Repairs and Technical
Well, definitely a period when Fender were using up old stock any way they could, some of these late 60's ones even have old orange and green amplifier cloth wire so perhaps they were using up Ash bodies as blonde was less popular, or because the Tele basses that came out then were blonde? Anything goes back then! -
Fender 60's P Bass - what type of wood is this please?
Chiliwailer replied to dodgnofski's topic in Repairs and Technical
My two cents... Fender mostly only used Ash for Blonde finishes back then, which were always Ash. Is the bass refinished? The paint wear looks like it could be, if it is, then maybe it was Ash as it sure does look like it against other Fenders I've seen from that period. -
Never seen a JV like this with a factory gold guard and without a small Squier logo, I thought they were all like this: http://basschat.co.u...2-l1099-woooop/ By the way, not trying to imply yours is not legit as I'm no expert, but someone who is will be bound to chime in sooner or later!
