1.
They are gorgeous basses, I like the black pickguard best with the blue. I think I prefer the sunburst P4 over my oly white Lull PJ4, this could get expensive!
You got the one from Bass Gear? That did look very lovely. If you an fancy a pair of Lull's it's still here for now!
Keeping with the current BCers mantra where the weight of a bass is more important it's sound and playability I'd go for the lightest pickguard you can find. 😀 Joking aside, I hope you get back to full playing fitness soon.
Haha! Better get the aliminium foil out then! Thanks very much
I like the black one the best, with white a distant second.
Black is sweeping the polls I think
Red tort of course. Just kidding. I'd try an anodised gold or white pearloid, personally.
Anodised? That's a great wild card, always like the look of them, just a shame that the feel of them on the tip of my thumb by the pickup always sends a shiver to my elbow! So I've ordered multi ply black and a parchment one too. I reckon it's parchment for me, but very interested in the black and reckon it'd make a nice change from time to time. Cheers all
 2.
Trades?
Trades are possible, but not if its your CS Jazz Bass please. REGARDING TRADES... I'm really after the cash but would welcome PM's just in case. Please only offer if you are in the UK and able to come to my home.
 3.
Alright, I'm floored. I always assumed that the reggae weapon of choice was a P-bass.
Yup, neck pickup, tone rolled off, flat wounds and a little amo adjustment and you're off! The 'quacky' sound you mentioned is how people describe two single coils wired in parallel, not so good for reggae, and for my taste dead annoying on Stratocasters in the wrong hands!
 4. Two guys from my user name... Flea, on later recordings like Stadium Arcadium and I'm With You. Aston Barrett with Bob Marley and the Wailers
 5. This is an unfortunate sale, though given that I'm a full on ash body and maple neck Precision guy I'm selling this one so that I can custom order another Mike Lull P4 in ash and maple. I'm a huge Mike Lull fan, I got my second Lull Precision style bass only today, in my favoured ash and maple combo, I have nothing against alder and rosewood, it's just that it doesn't really suit my natural finger tone, or desired tone on a P Bass, even my old 60's ones caused a struggle. Today's new purchase has reaffirmed that by the bucket load. Strange, as it's only Precisions and Music Man basses that bring this out in me, This one weighs 7.39lbs. Made in 2013. It's got a wider 1.75 inch nut width, like a pre 1968 Precision, but with a stunning shallower depth than a vintage Fender, making it faster to move around on if need be. The balance is incredible and you hardly even feel it around your neck, if I do sell this one and special order another I'll be sure to request that it is around this weight, with the same nut width and pickup. Comes with a Lindy Fralin pickup which is vintage heaven, this bass has a very vintage Precision tone, but with some extra clarity as expected from such a high quality bass. I've previously had Thomastiks on it and it currently has light gauge Fender flats on and sounds so soulful. I also had some light gauge LaBella flats on which sounded very smooth and deep. Can be sold with some old and well used Thomastiks, LaBellas or Fender flats...I may even be able to dig up some roundwounds. There is one tiny and unnoticeable ding on the underside, it's in the photo's. Comes with a Mike Lull branded Protec case. 6.
Buy with confidence people. This man knows his Fender's and is a pleasure to deal with. Getting this Jazz off him is going to a bit of a wrench, so make it quick and make it as painless as possible. If I had the cash, I would be on my way over there (again) myself.

+1, in my book if Dan says it's a good'un, it's a good'un
Thank you Gents, very much appreciated especially given that you both has such great taste in basses.
 7.
I like the white one. White pearloid would be cool too. Congrats on the new bass!
Thank you, loving it!
Ooh that stunning mate. Let me know when you feel up to playing and I'll bring mine over :-) Sorry, but the mint doesn't do it for me - blue and green must never be seen etc Any of the others will look great.
Shame on me for thinking green Be great to have you over again Warren. I'm off work for the next few weeks still so if you find yourself off work and pacing, come on over!
Yes - white or white pearl here, too. Love Lulls - congrats and speedy recovery!
Cheers, much appreciated
It's a beautiful thing. White for me, or is there a vintage white/cream that could be an option? Good luck with the recuperation.
I think you're right, that'll be the parchment one, which I'm favouring most. Though I reckon I'll get the black one too for good measure and another great option.
 8. It was my pleasure to meet Jo today, he bought a lovely bass from me and was a perfect Gent throughout. Clearly a great player, definitely a great guy to hang out with and without a doubt an experienced and knowledgable bass lover. Only good things to say about Jo! Cheers pal
 9. PRICE DROP - £1700 TRADES: Straight sale is preferred, but trades may be possible. Please only PM with a trade offer if you are able to bring it to my home. Thanks. It's a Closet Classic model, custom ordered in 2001, though over the years it has obtained some dings and natural wear to the back of the neck, making it more like a Closet Classic meets very light Relic. The lacquer checking on this bass is really something else too, looks gorgeous. The G string tuner has a slight hardly noticeable bend from where it took a small knock, it works perfectly though and I always forget it's there, all adds to the relic charm though! It has a quarter sawn neck that has incredible tension, the tone is absolutely stunning and the neck makes the tone as tight as coals into diamonds. To my personal taste, this bass was always the nicest CS 60's bass when I compared it to others. Of course, we all like different tones, just stating that I REALLY like his one. It has the clarity and punch you'd expect from a very good Jazz, does a modern high quality Jazz Bass tone but also can produce a great warmth that makes this a soulful bass too. Imagine it as the complete opposite of a 70's ash and maple funk machine - both great versions of a Jazz Bass but polar opposites. This bass was part of a special order to Sam Ash, quartersawn necks and matching heads were not common on regular run basses then. It was ordered to be a 63 though as Fender only did 64 necks it is stamped as a 64. However in the neck pocket you'll see writing stating that this is a special 2 of 3 and it includes the order number. In the pictures you'll see a copy of an email sent to me by Fender, confirming the Sam Ash order. The body and neck have all the right stamps and Fender have confirmed the serial number and order number. I'm simply pointing this out as its nice to get a special order one, rather than a stock one. I'm not too pleased to be selling this bass, there is absolutely nothing wrong with it and it's always been the Jazz Bass for me, It's only up for sale as I recently had surgery and for the first time in years I could play again regularly so I need super light basses that weigh 8lbs or less due to issues I have with my back and neck. I've been selling off my basses to pay for the new light ones. Pictures with the covers show Thomastiks, now fitted with a new set of D'Addario wounds. Weighs 9.13lbs, comes with certificate, original case and bits of case candy. CLICK ON ANY PICTURE TO BE LINKED TO MORE. 10.
Stay with the white. The mint looks like the bass has been in the wash and the colour has run!
Pissed myself laughing there, good point! Thanks for all the comments folks, might just order a black and a parchment as so well suggested.
 11. Deposit taken on the Oly White. I'll list the LPB soon. Cheers folks
 12.
Wow, that trans blue finish is ridiculously good looking! have to say I wouldn't be in a hurry to change the pickguard, the blue and white together with the maple board make for a fantastic looking bass. Congrats!
Thanks mate, you may well be right! WHICH PICKGUARD SHOULD I GET FOLKS? . Black? Mint? Parchment? My friend quickly photoshopped the picture for me to show the black and mint guards... 13. The bass arrived today, put some Thomastik on right away and had a very brief play, in little 20 second spurts as I can't really play right now due to my previously mentioned physical state. The neck is instantly amazing, and the tone absolutely blew me away, exactly what I expected and with more to boot it that makes sense? Its all worked out perfectly and I'm looking forward to rehabilitating and playing in the future. Just need to order a couple of pickguards to replace the white one, going to try a 3 ply black one and a mint green one. Blue Lull, meet Sunburst Lull.....
 14. I had some bare knuckle p bass pickups once, did a great job. Not heard the jazz set but they do very good quality stuff.
 15.
Hope you enjoy the anticipation and then the opening ceremony, as much as I did last week with my arrival. I'm sure it will be an excellent choice and look forward to seeing the pics. Wish you well mate
Thanks Gary, it is a ceremony to look forward to. Hope it's a winner like your new Jazz. Pics will follow for sure.
 16. Nice one, bet that's lovely to play on. Fantastic grain too. Welcome to the light P Bass club!
 17. I had surgery 4 weeks ago, haven't touched a bass since and I certainly can't play properly for the next few weeks at least.... What a great time to buy a bass! This long overdue surgery has got me excited about being able to play again with mates. I have a Lull P4 already, and it's lovely. But I'll always be an ash/maple man, no matter how much I try that's the wood that works best with my natural tone. Since selling my ash/maple CS 55 P Bass I've been without . My P4 is alder/rosewood, still great and well worth keeping for warmth, so it looks like my CS Jazz will be on the way out to cover the costs. I can't use a bass over 8lbs so it seems pointless having the Jazz now as its 9lbs. After a chat with the very good folk of Bass Direct I ordered a Trans Blue, ash body, maple board PJ4 with Nordstrand P and big Jazz pickups. Their 7 day approval made it easy for me as I can't get there for a good few weeks but didn't want to risk missing it. Not a colour I would have gone for usually, but reckon it's was worth a shot, does look good. I could just about get my right hand to pick a string by the neck, no issues using left hand, so I'll have a very very brief play later but keep the full on testing to when my bassist mate pops over! Hopefully arriving today, quite excited.
 18. Nothing Junior about that tone!!! Enjoy
 19. Having previously owned this bass I'm happy to say that it's not just a good looker, but an amazing players bass. At the same time I owned this one, I had another original '66 made in the same month and very close in serial number ( pretty sure it's May '66 iirc), the other one was battered and a real players bass, it was good but not even close to as good as this one. The tone is lovely and the neck is very comfortable, plus it's quite light weight. Blows away the often unfair myth that the mint condition ones were the bad ones so remained unplayed, not this bass for sure. GLWTS
 20.
Another option is £250 with the original EMG active PUPs. This is a steal
Surely this can't still be here by evening? Bargain beauty.
 21. That looks lovely Gary, nice one! (The natural headstock ageing is delicious )
 22.
Suppose trades are out of the question?
Hi Andy, trades may be a possibility, please PM me.
 23.
Are you they aren't supposed to be sold as a pair?
Lol! You remembered he'd likes his basses in pairs?! Though that's now grown to triplets. Don't tempt me though Warren, think what I could buy if I sold them both....
 24.
Is it E.K.O or Echo?
We called them 'echo' when I was in the trade. Or, 'you know, those cool looking Italian ones...'
