  1. Well it looks like such adverts divide opinion at best, probably narrowing the audience and leading ultimately to an unsuccessful sale. I think it's a bit of a grey area which should be clarified a bit one way or another, so we will have a chat about it. I am inclined to leave it be because to be honest the marketplace is a bonus and not really what we are about so having lots of rules and regulations there takes our focus away form other things. Let's see what happens. Cheers for bringing it up and discussing it. ped
  2. TBH having tried custom moulds and more expensive models I have always gone back to Shure E2Cs with foam inserts. They give a sound that is identical to my bass through the desk so I know what I hear is what is going to record and live they reduce the sound of the surrounding band just the right amount - I can still hear them clearly but it feels like CD volume, and I can set my in ear bass level to match. Works great for me! Cheers ped
  3. [quote name='BigBeefChief' post='593152' date='Sep 8 2009, 06:31 PM']I'm gonna bring a high-class escort like I did to my school reunion. That and the rented Porsche.[/quote] How are you gonna drive an Escort AND a Porsche?
  4. After a 3 week wait for a Roland GK kit for BASS guitar (http://www.dawsons.co.uk/acatalog/info_00061908.html ) , they send the guitar version ( [url="http://www.dawsons.co.uk/acatalog/info_00061906.html"]http://www.dawsons.co.uk/acatalog/info_00061906.html[/url] ) I have said they better send the right version ASAP (will be 3 weeks at best) and i will send back the one I have if they send a prepaid postage label with the new one. Probably should have gone direct to Roland.
  5. You can fix it on with double sided numberplate tape, from most good motorist centers. I used that on my Bacchus jazz and it was so solid I didn't ever bother screwing it on and making the holes.
  6. I wouldn't bother with Music Live, but Bass day would be worth it - it's an amazing event and really fun. There isn't much room for trade stands so you might want to double up with someone else who is there like John East. Actually Music Live might be OK if you get a lot of guitar playing customers - but there is not very much there for bassists. ped
  7. [quote name='BassBunny' post='588897' date='Sep 3 2009, 05:48 PM']"Marvin". The Carvin BB75 I have that has had a Marleaux Neck installed. Every time I think I have found another Bass I prefer, I pick Marvin up and it just plays and sounds superb. A hard act to follow as a £2K Bacchus found out. [/quote] Yeah, Marvin ROCKS - amazing bass in every respect.
  8. Sorry mate no I sold this a while ago. I think you can order them direct from Atelier-Z. ped
  9. That might be an option. It might mess with my head in terms of organisation though but with a little effort I could probably sort that out for the next order... Thanks for the tip ped
  10. Unfortunately I was only able to buy about 75 T's in total this time as I didn't have much spare cash lying around. I am giving T shirts to the mods, so we won't be making any profit on the batch. In fact they may very well end up costing me, but it's all good to spread the word of the site. The next batch will be of a similar size (I can only afford to write off a few hundred to sink into this at the moment) and when sold I will be able to use that money to get a bigger batch and so forth. Apologies it is taking so long but I have been fairly hard up these last few months! Cheers ped
  11. Hi mate Yeah if you want the pic to just appear large under your post you will need to host them somewhere - like Photobucket. Once you upload a pic to photobucket it will give each image something called an IMG tag. Simply copy + paste the IMG tag where you would like to see the pic and it will appear once you hit the reply button. It will look a bit like this (but without the spaces) [ img ] picofdoggie.jpg [/ img] Hope this helps ped
  12. I should have them this week at some point. Watch this space.

    Show us your rig!

Superb Trace rig. I like the look of the MP11. Nearly got one myself actually. How do you find the Peavey era cabs compared to the older ones?

  18. Hi Smashie. I like the sound of the HlH, cool amps, those. I worked at Buckingham School briefly (not the Royal Latin but the one next to it) but otherwise the area is alien to me. used to drive through Aylesbury to see my ex-girlfriend's parents - thankfully I won't be doing that again. Welcome to the madness ped
  19. Yeah it was a bit awkward! Marcus didn't do much to ease the situation either by the looks of it. Notice his miniature ashtray. I tried one of those and it is a brilliant solution to the problem of a larger width one covering a fair amount of the plucking area. They are pretty common on Japanese super-jazzes like Atelier-Z and Bacchus, and I have seen them on Fodera basses too. Perhaps Marcus is thinking of adding them to the MIJ sig instruments? ped
  20. [quote name='Dr.Dave' post='581782' date='Aug 26 2009, 07:25 PM']Nothing at all wrong with that - whatever helps an individual achieve their aim is a good thing. Fret lines get me all confused though - odd - I'm a pretty visual creature but they just don't work for me.[/quote] yeah it helps as a quick check... there isn't anything on the front of the neck though, just a blank shiny metal fingerboard! maybe we should open the whole 'do you need lines' can of worms! ped
  21. Luckily mine has dots and lines on the side of the neck.
  22. What did they play at the end?
  23. I guess wild is the wrong word, but I like it when he nails it to a groove. There is a good track called 'Ooh' (feat. Lalah Hathaway) where he starts off with a sweet groove and does some tasty soloing over the top... it is really fun to play bass along to, keeping the original groove going under his solo. ped
  24. [quote name='JTUK' post='580212' date='Aug 25 2009, 01:57 PM']Jools Holland did this sort of thing with MM and Dave Sanborn on a U.S show ..where they invited guests Worked really well most of the time. The guitarists were Hiram Bullock, mostly, and sometimes Roben ford. Drummer was Omar Hakim.. Keys was Phillip Saisse[/quote] Think I saw a few of those... Omar is another fave. Didn't they do the joke where they disproved people who said it was because they played good instruments that they sounded so good, and had a jam on some plastic toy instruments and still sounded tight?
