1. Yeah, I lolled but it's better than nothing!! I would say that probably less than 5% of the finished transactions via BC include a donation to the site. It's not why we do it, but it's nice when people take the trouble, even if it's pennies.
2.
WHAT? You put £960 in your own pocket? I knew I shouldn't take the risk! best, bert
I gave you the £40 to keep quiet, wish I took the whole £1k now!
3. Hi guys Thanks for the donations again, and yes the modest profit from the shop goes to the site and every little helps. We've had donations ranging from 10p to £40, but we appreciate each one. Cheers
4. Great pics... it looks like it's brand new!

106,000,000
There are 2.376 million bass players out there?
Or one bored man with lots of computers!
6. Ah of course, that'll teach me to look things up whilst I should be working. I'll see if Patrice Vigier can shed any light on the exact date, then. I've never had a metal laminate model, I bet they have a sound all of their own. Funnily enough I have seen an Arpege at CrackConverters before, though I think it was snapped up quickly. You struck gold, there - and what an excellent price. Enjoy it and remember, French = best! ped

106,000,000

Just been browsing our analytics and I have found that we've had just over 106,000,000 pageviews since May 2008. That's approximately 3 times the population of Oceana and about the same as the number of people in the USA who own a smartphone. I was quite impressed!! We've also had 2.376 million unique visitors to the site. Cheers for being one of them (sounds a bit cringeworthy, but thanks anyway) ped
8. Woah that's stunning. Where did you find it? It was made on March 15th, 1986. The serial # database is here http://78.41.237.59/sites/medias/pdf/12.pdf So what can you tell us about the neck on the bass, is it carbon or the earlier brass laminate type? I bet you'll be very happy with that - the second best bass I have ever played is Dr. Bass' blueburst Arpege! On the whole Vigier front I'm working with a kind BC member to have my 'up' and 'down' Vbass patch buttons installed neatly onto the front of my bass, watch this space! Yeah I think Arpege sounds cooler than Passion, I guess it also has a slightly more bass related meaning, too.

The Marleaux is stunning

Slow?

We rebooted the server the other day and that seems to have solved the problem for now. Fingers crossed! Cheers
15. Lol. Ok I like that idea. Now how's about this. Sometimes I will switch through a few patches at once, so I wonder if it's possible to have a knob which I could rotate through clicks to go up and down through the patches? That would be ideal, and a bit quicker. Difficult to sort, or possible? I would probably pay someone to work this out for me, if anyone fancies volunteering!!
16.
From the 6 way connector on the amp board, (looking at the circuit lets call the top/black/No.1), you should have a black wire, (common) going to the centre tab of your bass select switch, you need to link that to the centre of the new up/down switch, then from the same 6 way connector, you need to wire No. 4 blue to the down side & No.5 yellow to the up. Either way on the new switch, then fix the switch to suit. HTH, John
Thanks, that should help. I'll have to check the internals as I can't remember what I did with the unused connecting wires. Maybe I'll put up a photo to clarify when she's opened up. It's a bit crowded in there with the 3 band eq too. Cheers
17. Excellent, that sounds like a winner - I'll have a play when they arrive. Now I just need to work out how to wire it up.
18.
I just saw the above - I've got plenty of those too - I'll open the bag & stick a couple of them in too
Now that's what I call service!!! Thanks!
19. That's great, thanks.
20. Thanks, that's very kind - I'll PM you now!
21. Hi John Yes I think that's right, they simply move the patch on the pedal up or down. Those look great - being the picky sod that I am, I wonder if you have some that are plain black? Thanks for the reply and generous offer. Do these type of buttons have a particular name? ped
22. Hi chaps Ages ago now I installed the GK kit into my bass, to drive the V-bass unit. You can choose to have LEDs, switches, buttons, control knobs etc when you do the install, and omit them as you wish depending on your tastes. The only things you NEED are the output and the pickup itself. I chose to add the control knob to my bass (which is assignable depending on what I'm doing (for example it's a wave shape control on a synth, or a pickup balance on a jazz bass model). I now fancy adding the 'up' and 'down' buttons to select patches without using the pedalboard. Problem is, I can't find the ones that came with the kit. I have emailed Roland to see if I can get some spares, but failing that, I wonder if anyone knows if they are a common type I can replace with something sourced elsewhere? Here's a picture of the kit contents, the buttons are the matching two black items Here's the .pdf showing how the thing is wired up (mine passes through a Marleaux 3 band active pre-amp, too) http://media.rolandus.com/manuals/GK-KIT-BG_OM.pdf It should be fairly easy to add the buttons to the circuit I think. Cheers ped
23. I had a lovely time! I was only able to stay for a few hours unfortunately but it was great to meet some new Basschatters and see plenty of old faces. Massive thanks for Nik and Colin for the organisation, drinks, food... superb. I say it every year but these bashes are what makes our community so special. Here's a pic I took of Si. The other picture I took was a Polaroid, which I gave to Si. Oh, and my bass isn't for sale!!! I was v confused when people were asking how much! I couldn't really put a price on it - I would have no idea what to ask if I did sell it (which I won't, lol) Tap dancing by chiscocks, on Flickr

Slow?
Ped you've got a very nice forum, I give you that. However it's so slow to run from whatever platform / device / ip that it's becoming painfull to partecipate. Can anything be done to speed it up??
We're trying the best we can, but truth be told, we're crippled at the moment from lack of technical support because we can't afford any. I've asked our current guy to look into it but he's doing it as a favour rather than as a paid job and it's difficult to rely on him as good as he is, because I feel bad for nagging him when he's doing it in his free time which he has very little of. We've just been let down by a developer after 10 months and have just started the search for another. Steve is in charge this time because I was getting extremely frustrated; I'm not knowledgeable in the slightest about what we need, what skills they need, how they access the server or ANY of that, so I feel at times like the captain of a ship with no engine room. Steve knows a lot more than me and we have found two people willing to take this on as a fully paid job but now it's the lack of funds holding us back. Cheers
25.
my bass *is* active!
Ah!! Well that's strange. Or I'm strange. Or I don't know what I'm talking about!
