1. I posted a review of my Cort B4 last year (note this instrument now has added ACG pre-amp goodness): http://basschat.co.uk/topic/204954-cort-b4/
2.
Haha I do have to agree. But someone else singing guns songs just isnt the same.
Nah, Slash has Myles Kennedy (one of the nicest and best rock singers out there) now - why would he ever return to Axl?
3. What customs/VAT duties did you have to pay for bringing this in from Aus? I wonder if you could fit Thunderbuckers would fit without routing.
4. This discussion does seem to have got a little.....not sure what word is best to use.....elitist maybe in a minority way, hmm. Anyway, I will put my hand up - I am actually right handed for everything other than playing guitar/bass (see mentioned the 'G' word too - stone the heretic) and archery. Have discussed this before, so won't go into it again but yes, the lack of leftie basses is a right pain (although possibly good for my bank account). But a good percentage of the right handed bass community are sympathetic to this and also a good percentage of a bass is universal. I think the suggested leftie ebay thread is a good idea but this thread seems a good home for all leftie discussion. Regarding it being 'squirreled' away, follow this topic and then you get told when someone posts something in this thread and you can come straight here without navigating. P.S. I posted a review of my Cort in the usual bass section, as it was relevant to the left and right hand versions.
5. There are always Enduros (cheaper but also good potential for injury - especially knees) or Trials. Welcome.
6.
Mine's nowhere near as smooth as that:
Is that a 2013 model, as I thought the 2014 were smooth gloss?
7. The G3 (as shown by the petition elsewhere on here) is superior to the B3 because it has had an update allowing for 6 effects inline instead of 3. I like the available sounds - I would say just buy it (I have both ).
8. Also worth noting that Total Guitar reviewed the Futura and Special versions of the SG and LP guitars this month and have stated as 'Available Left Handed' in the review. None of these guitars have appeared for sale yet either and left handed guitars are far more likely due to a larger marketplace. Perhaps Gibson is going to get to a specific amount of righties made before switching the CAM routers into mirror mode - we can only hope.
9. They have been pretty silly (not that that is unusual for guitar companies). I tried a Epi T-Bird last year and loved it, tried a Gibson EB (this was a lefty) and liked it but not the finish and have a craving for an SG bass. If the 'promised' leftie T-Birds had appeared, I might well have bought one (even with the steep pricetag and not being available in white). If the promised 2014 EBs had appeared, with the improved IMHO finish which solved my problem with the 2013 EB and which has a 5 stringer version, I might well have bought one of those. If the SG special appeared, I would definately have one. Instead I have bought an ACG 5 stringer second hand, to clear my 5 string needs/learning and retro fitted my Cort with an ACG preamp that covers pretty much most sounds I can envisage needing. So they have lost sales of a TBird and/or an EB now and probably forever (my money will likely be heading Alan's way in the future). The annoying thing is, I still have that damn itch for the SG.
10. I deliberately posted a piccy of my SG Guitar on their Facebook page and said it would be nice to have a white T-Bird next to it. Was worth a try but I suspect will not get anywhere.
11. Andertons are following the leftyfretz line of "They will release all models but no idea when".
12. Right, last bits done. The Battery Status Indicator and Knob arrived from John East on Friday: The BLI-01 is very easy to install, it is just wired to the Battery +V and Ground connections: Then I desoldered the 18V wire (Orange) as it was not needed and then soldered the LED wires into place: Then it was just a case of putting it all back together. Not managed to test the LED yet, tried putting a Rechargeable PP3 (7.2V) into the bass but this is obviously not low enough voltage to set the LED off (the EQ-01 is running fine at this voltage). The John East knob for the Passive Tone control fits perfectly and now fits in better with the other knobs already used. So I am content that this is job done, very happy with the results and still playing around with the pre-amp (found a few settings that I really really like). Definately recommend the EQ-01 for retro fitting.
13. Every guitar and bass I have (other than the acoustic) have Schallers fitted.

Mark, I suspect you might be dealing with the EU support chappie (very nice guy) but you might like to point Gibson at the following website which states that 'someone' at Gibson stated that all guitar and bass models would be available left handed this year: http://leftyfretz.co...itar-bass-2014/ EDIT: Just noticed at the end of the comments, someone is mentioning they won't be available until May but no idea how reliable this is either.
15.
thanks for that, i've been after one for ages, they shouldn't advertise them if they can't get them.
No harm in sending them an email to query what 'No ETA' means.
16. Well my attendance this year ended when I found out that my daughter's cheerleading competition was taking place in Exeter on the Saturday (they did get a 1st and a 3rd though ). Was originally hoping to go to the Arenacross event at Wembley on the Saturday night and then the LBGS on the Sunday. Maybe next year,
Myself John East and Haydn Williams might be doing a small gallery show later in the year down in London with a view to having a much more controlled environment in which to try out instruments.
Ooh, might well be an excuse for another London trip.
17. Andertons are now listing all of the Gibson 2014 basses in left handed, with piccies that do not look like they have been reversed in Photoshop........pity the arrival time is 'No ETA'. EDIT - Correction, at least one is reversed in Photoshop.
18. Not that I have found for their own tab format (Tab Pro). If it is a Guitar Pro or Power Tab format one, it will often pop up their viewer but you can download the tab by scrolling down and finding the 'Download Guitar Pro Tab' button.
19. Good to meet everyone, even if it was only for an hour or so.
20. Right, after a day driving around Poole/Bournemouth looking at cars - managed to get back to more important stuff. It was just a case of putting everything back together basically. However, one final issue arose at this point, the knob (actually they sent me two by mistake) I had bought from AxesRUs, whilst great for the concentric pots, turned out to be for a splined 6mm pot and not a smooth one - which the Passive Tone pot is. I attempted to drill the splines out of the first knob but that has produced a result that is less than satisfactory (it doesn't turn flat) and after looking at the Knobs on my ACG, which are bigger and look far more in keeping with the concentric pot knobs, I have decided to pick up another proper knob from John East when I order the battery status indicator from him in the next week or so. So here the nearly finished result is: So aesthetically speaking I am reasonably happy. The stacked knobs look excellent and have a nice weight behind them. Definitely recommend them and they also have the, I think essential for this Pre-Amp, position markers. Once the remaining hole is filled with the LED and Tone knob is changed, its going to look nice. Now for the far more important functional result. I have not had anywhere near enough time to play with it yet but even my girlfriend was staggered by the difference in sounds that could be produced by this Pre-Amp, it is an amazing piece of kit. It is such an upgrade from the original MK1 preamp as to be incomparable. I was umming and ahhing about upgrading the MK1 pups but they seem to work really well with the EQ01, so I don't think I will now. It is all packed up and in a hard case now, ready for transport up to the Dorset Bass Bash.
21. You could be right, I was thinking in Gibson mode where R=rhythm and I was assuming the other pickup would say T. Not going to take it out to check though now, have the finishing line in sight. :-)
22. Perhaps it just needed a sleep break but after re-looking at the routing, it was possible to get the ribbon cable to reach (although it does indeed have a bit of a bend in it. Just had the battery back in and plugged it into the amp - it works!!! Well kind of. The preamp is definitely working but the bridge LPF is markedly stronger in it's effect than the neck, so I think some tweaking with the level pots on the LPFs is in order. I did take the bridge pup out last night (was hoping that it might have some extra lead length cable tied back in the cavity, alas this was not the case hence the Orange/Green extension I have had to solder inline) and noticed that it had an 'R' printed on it. I suspect this means it is actually a Neck pickup, which I believe is the same case on the Ibanez SR600, showing that these basses are essentially the same except for the Ibanez neck profile. I think this means the bridge pup is rather stronger in its output. So hopefully this means I just have to do the tweaking and then final fittings, which will lead us to an issue with one of the knobs I have bought from AxesRUs for the Passive Tone control. But that will have to be later, swimming awaits apparently.
