This film was my gateway into liking music to begin with. Didn't even know what a bass was at the time! Would say Duck Dunn was a pretty good first influence once I figured out what that low rumbly thing was... Split my teen years between this and The Commitments. Thoroughly confused my peers who were all into Neu-Metal at the time...

I’ve had some good results with various models of Digitech Whammy. Older models, or the newer models on ‘Classic’ mode, retain a bit more of a natural tone compared to pedals like the POG (the Micro/Nano at least). Had reasonable results with the Boss OC-5, but the upper octave did seem to get a bit lost in the mix. Worked quite well for a split-signal path though - octave output is muted when the pedal is off and kicks in when engaged, so an option if you run a second cable to a guitar amp.

Just trying to figure out if there’s a simple one-box solution to my setup… At our gigs I’m running bass guitar and synth side by side. We’re not a big band, so no money (or roadies to carry) a big rig, so i’d like to be able to run both instruments through my one amp, but send separate DI signals to the PA. Bass normally runs through the amp, and the synth through the PA and monitors, but I really struggle to get enough volume from the synth to match my amp. I could run two DI boxes into a mixer/blender pedal of some sort, but was wondering if there was an easier way to set this up? Any stereo DIs that will do the mixing job too? Was looking at the Walrus Audio Canvas stereo but can’t seem to find out if the Sum switch affects the DI outputs also… (https://www.walrusaudio.com/products/canvas-stereo-dual-line-isolator-d-i?variant=42416441688299)

I figured it was something along those lines, though all drives are after the wah. Using a buffer before the Swiss Things seems to do the trick, though a buffer in the loop before the wah doesn’t change anything…

The main problematic combos include the wah and JHS Sweet Tea (central brown pedal) and the Archer into the Sweet Tea. Sweet Tea into the Micro Amp is fine and wah into any other overdrive seems fine. JHS Charlie Brown (back row) is pretty much on all the time, but doesn’t seem to make a difference whether on or off.

A little off-topic, but been trying something new out with the Earthquaker Devices Swiss Things over on my guitar board. However, hit a bit of a technical glitch. For reference, signal chain as follows: Guitar in - - Loop 1: wah and overdrives - Volume controlled via expression pedal between loop 1 and 2 - Loop 2 - modulation, delay, reverb - output - Tuner on a separate buffered output. I‘m getting what appears to be a feedback loop in loop 1 when using certain combinations (not all combos) of pedals. High-pitched noise that shifts frequency when adjusting wah or most of the overdrive controls. Everything individually seems to work perfectly fine. It’s only with certain wah/drive combos that I have the issue. This stops when I put a buffered pedal (eg the tuner) in front of the Swiss Things. Also doesn’t occur if all the pedals are just in one or the other loop. Could just keep them all in one, but loses the point of getting the volume pedal out of the signal path and between the drives and the delay/reverb. Any tips out there? I‘ve messaged Earthquaker Devices, but haven’t had anything back from them yet, and not getting anything from the guitar forums…

Anyone else having to do some hefty adjustments to their bass necks at the moment? Noticed the action was super-high on my Stingray the other day and ended up needing the best part of a half-turn of the truss rod to get it down (bridge as low as poss already). Doing my best to keep my gear out of direct sunlight, but it’s pretty hot right now whatever you do…
