1. Here's Holier than thou by Metallica - check out the bass break at 3:10 and you'll see what I mean about crunchy aggressive tone (not very cappuccino/latte to me!)
2. Or, in a distinctly rockier vein (and what attracted me to Alembics), try Metallica's Black Album, eg, Enter Sandman, Holier than Thou or My God of Misery. Quite an aggressive crunchy tone when played by Jason Newsted (or before him, Cliff Burton, who also used an Aria and a Rick)
3. Best if you let people know whether you mean filed or filled ( re-read OP) as it obviously means two different things!
4. Hi Tony. Which P bass did you buy as Tom has sold a few I think? I don't need another P (sold my white one Sid yesterday) but if it's one I could move on quickly then the deal you suggested might well work. Cheers Clarky
5. Although I withdrew this bass from sale on Friday, I could actually do with selling it due to me having just coughed up for an Alembic Elan 5 string and being financially short as a consequence (so trades are still out). Was a firm £2600 before (or Euro 3,100 for our continental European BassChat brethren) but I will listen to cash offers reasonably close to this. I am not going to keep bumping this daily but wanted anyone with potential interest to be aware its available.
6. Cracking gig Low End Bee! Dry ice and lasers too - who could want more? Sorry I missed all but the end of Jack's set as I couldn't get there til just after 10. Well played gents

Dangee Feedback

Dan is now the owner of my old punk bass "Sid". Very easy deal, involving meeting on a tube platform (makes a change from car parks for me!) and I will just add to the list of posts above recommending Dan to deal with. Enjoy Sid!
8. Ooops, just pressed the button on this 1992 Alembic Elan 5! Hope to get this by the end of the week. Having failed to sell my AC Willie Weeks maybe not my smartest move but you only live once!
9. Is the OP by any chance Tony Goggle?
10.
A couple from our recent Half moon outing
Short @rse Adam
11. Usually mrs Clarky saying "you were really good tonight. Maybe next time there will be a few more in the audience" I'm not joking
12. Hey elbassisto, if it helps I have placed a link to your ad on the 'Alembic Club' forum
13. I play my 72 Precision at punk gigs. Does that count me in?
14. Very Geddy. Nice! In fact best looking of the three IMHO. Congrats Chris
15. Oh well, I tried Now withdrawn
16. Any last minute offers, oh BC community, before it comes off the FS list at 5pm?
17.
'Escape from Obsession for Men'?
"GAS for men"?
18. "a diluted perfume of slowing ageing lacquer, the original case smell that always seems to linger, and decades-old fags, sweat & alcohol" Calvin Klein should make this and sell it bottles. There'd be plenty of bassists buying it
19. I have the best of both worlds - a heavy Orange valve amp (though at c.50 lb nothing like as heavy as an SVT!) and a TC450 Classic, which does a really good impersonation of a tube amp (and I doubt any audience member would be able to tell the difference). If its a small gig or practice there's no way I'm lugging the Orange along - the TC450 does the trick nicely.
20. Echo. Echo. Echo.
21.
Mate, why don't you mention what the other bass in question is because toy might find a solution with the same instrument from another member. Alternatively, someone else might be interested in a three-way deal (no smutty comments please)? Good luck either way C
There's a very specific situation attached to the other bass (which isn't actually FS right now but might be shortly) hence I am not mentioning it Chris
22. Final bump. There is another bass I have my eye on and this would help fund it, hence I have kept this up for sale. If there is no interest in my AC today, however, I will be withdrawing it.
23.
Where's Molan and Clarky ?
You rang? Answer is it depends on what gives you the most out of being a bass player. I have been debating this with regard to my 72 Fender P and my Alleva-Coppollo in another thread and its a desperately tough call between inspiration (AC a better bass to play) and aspiration (vintage Fender gives me a warm rosy glow). If I won the lottery I would have a custom Alembic made, however, in answer to the OP's question, as for me Alembics cross the divide between 'classic bass' and superb materials/playability/construction boutique bass.

25.
Care to explain to me exactly how that is a bad thing?
You got there before me Rich - I was also googling images of Fiona in a swimsuit before I got some funny looks in the office!
