1. Alternatively save up some more and buy a 2-channel 'doubling' amp - eg, Euphonic Audio Doubler or MarkBass Markacoustic. Won't need a separate preamp then and can flog your current amp to help pay for the incomer
2. No, but I have played with a badass. Kaboom-ting! Actually I have a glass back and have played many gigs with a bad back (mainly lower back pain). Painkillers, a wide padded bass strap and sitting down before and after the set are my only ways of getting through it
3. 1. In my experience, the Custom Shop reissues tend to be slightly better than US reissues - usually nice, light woods selected and just feel better quality and attention to detail. I had a 64 RI Jazz that was really lovely (I only picked it up in a trade to move on, but I thought long and hard about keeping it as it was that nice). 2. The relic'd vs NOS price differential merely reflects the added time and effort of getting a chisel to the bass! Not worth it in my opinion. Only worth it if you want to kid people its a genuine old instrument or you are so anal about scratches that you would rather not make the first one 3. The Pino that I once owned on the other hand HAD to be relic'd (to look like Pino's) and was a wonderful Precision - light, resonant and with the most lovely played-in feeling neck. If I'm honest, every bit as nice to play and listen to as my year-of-birth '63 Precision
4. PS as I have sourced a Takamine B10 fretless, no trade offers please. For sale only
5. Aforementioned BC'er just had to cancel viewing due to illness and insisted I offer this more widely due to length of time its taking us to hook up. So still available type bump!
6. Done
7. I played Happy Jack's old - and your new - Status PJ. I was sceptical about the whole Status graphite thing but the bass looked great (nice cherry coloured retro look) and the neck was a delight. Didn't feel sterile and plastick-y at all. Good score Nige
8. From our acoustic gig at the Upton Blues festival in July - several other members of Rattlin Bone (we did a separate full band set on the main stage) came on stage for the encore version of Tom Wait's 'Yesterday is Here' ... which was pretty cool and went down really well with the audience (we had been a quartet up to that point) And here's me from the Rattlin Bone set later that evening in zombie make-up (same pic as my avatar)
9. Phil Nixon of BassGear had kindly brought down a bass for me to road-test from a Yorkshire-based BC'er. I had met Phil before at a couple of BassBashes and bought an Aguilar Tonehammer amp from him and I have always thought he was 'on the side' of us bass players. So I popped over this morning to his new retail outlet in Twyford, near Reading/Henley etc, about 35-40 minutes west of London. Well, its a real treasure trove for those who love a high end bass - loads of Foderas, Zons, Alleva etc on display - plus a couple of nice Fenders (and I do love a good Fender) - and some very impressive Bag End cabs. Phil is very host-ly (OK, I made up that word) and some hot percolated coffee was quickly on offer along with some great bass chatter. I know SiBob and molan have been over and I think Happy Jack may have been planning a visit too, so maybe they will chip in here. For those BC'ers who are within a 1-2 hour radius - I would say its well worth a visit. Phil is very welcoming, he mentioned that some pretty exciting new stock will be coming in over the next few months, and the basses and amps/cabs he has right now are not to be sneezed at! Some still at relocation prices too. Hmmmm ....
10. I cannot afford it right now but this has always been for me one of the top 5 best-looking basses on BassChat. Good luck with the sale!
11.
Tell me more...
Think this sold last month. Its a beauty
12. I've seen and played this bass and its a cracker (now that Jon has sorted the truss rod issue). I would like this but have just bought 'Rick's Fine 52''s relic'd '53 P bass so am out of funds and have my '50s Fender fetish sated! This is one lovely bass, especially the flame maple neck. Someone buy it. Its lovely
13.
Clarky???? who is this imposter! Nice bass by the way!
Oi, back in your box fake-Clarky!
14.
I have never heard of these and can find no googlinfo on it. Do you have any pics of these guitar condoms ?
Voila https://axeglove.3dcartstores.com/mobile/ho...#homeSubCat_7_1
15. Anyway a 'slap cock' is an official term for 75% of bass players at any bass show
16.
If it needs to be picked up from the Bass Bash I'll do it, I have a book to give back to Chris anyway.
Thanks Wayne. I am not 100% I can make the BassBash but If I don't go I might get someone (Chiswick based and Happy, perhaps!) to bring it along if needs be as I have to somehow get my donated raffle prizes there too
17.
Thanks Clarky. Funny old world isn't it mate, I now own (albeit provisionally) five basses, four of which I have bought back from people I'd sold them to. You don't know what you got 'til it's gone eh
My last deal was selling Happy Jack a bass he sold to me and subsequently regretted selling ... And had that happened a week earlier I would have bought back Legion/Jas' Tony Franklin which I once owned and had originally bought from Jas. Work that one out!

19.
Thought that might be the case. The EKO strings (which I have to admit I'm starting to wonder of I ever posted!) made the bass sound like an acoustic bass guitar, whilst I did feel the TIs really took it into DB territory, especially as they really seemed to bring out the noise of the board and the fingers. The TIs were also effortless to play whilst the EKOs were like playing La Bella Jamersons! I've just committed to buy back my old Ovation via Bob, so ahead of buying this back also, I probably need a Precision or two to sell, not so much in terms of needing the money, but more in terms of needing the space! I'll take some pics of those beasts this evening and push those sales and see what I can do mate C PS I really appreciate the offer, but there's no need to drop the price re different strings
No worries, I will put it on hold for you and in the unlikely event you don't shift your Precisions and you are not in a position to go ahead it's no biggie for me, mate I will swap back to TIs in case you can go ahead and pop the La Bellas in the gig bag
20. Did you by any chance vote 'Frequently' in my poll about drug taking Si? have a strong cup of coffee and you will see that your Jazz and Precision collection is the dogs doodahs! P's, the Zon is fine ... But single-cuts, just no!
21.
How do the La Bellas compare with the TIs mate? Did you ever try the original EKOs?
The La Bellas are bigger and clunkier. They feel more DB (albeit a bit plastic-y as they are still so new and not worn in) whereas your old worn-in TIs probably sound more DB. I didn't ever receive the Ekos mate! I think they got lost in the post. If you prefer I would swap back the old TIs and chop £20 off the price?
22. Sorry Bassbod/Duncan, I just don't trust ParcelFarce with something relatively fragile (compared to an electric bass anyway) and Beedster I await your call mate! FYI, I can put back on TI Flats if you prefer to black nylons (I could also just give you back the old worn TI Flats you had on it and keep teh La Bellas on)
23. Is there no London-based DB player that needs a practice-friendly (small, lightweight vs DB) backup instrument?
24. Calling Mr Sonic Blue, Lozbass!
25. Interestingly an anagram of caps lock is slap cock. Is this why we bassists are so drawn to this for sale thread?
