1. My lot (All The Queens Ravens) is missing a trick in my view by not having any merchandise, bar CDs, at gigs. So I wondered if anyone has a recommendation for a T-shirt manufacturer that can accurately print a logo on the front but at a reasonable price and not in massive quantities (say 50 to begin with)?
2. Just to help (before someone else points it out), you haven't mentioned price. I assume this is the same amp you put on the Amps FS forum at £350? Great amps (I have an Acoustic Image Clarus)
3. Shame but I have found some strings I REALLY like on my flatback - Spirocore Solo, downtuned to orchestral (as played by Miroslav Vitous on his 3/4 DB) They have the same low tension as Garbos (55-57 kg) and have big fat diameters but still have the typical Spiro sustain and growl. I am throughly happy now string-wise (Kolstein Heritage on Busetto travel bass and Spiro Solo on my flatback). The Garbos will suit many people but just weren't for me (or rather didn't suit my basses)
4. Hi Keith. There are faint signs of use - the windings are brightly polished copper and in a few places these quickly pick up finger stains. I don't think they would accept them back unless indistinguishable from new and in all-original packaging.
5. I bought these from Thomann a couple of weeks ago - here's the link http://www.thomann.d...ss_strings.htm. They currently cost £209 which is by far the cheapest available deal (Stringmail is the cheapest supplier in the UK at £234, others sell for up to £320!) The strings have been briefly on both my DBs but are in excellent condition still. They are too thumpy for my small-bodied Kolstein travel bass and just didn't suit my 3/4 flatback (which needs brighter strings). The character of these is very gut-like but with more sustain in the lower registers than for example Silver Slaps. Here is a link to a string audio site that will allow you to hear (and compare) Garbos. http://www.hervejean...aitenmatrix.php So how about [s]£175[/s] nearest offer to £150 posted for a set of barely-used Garbos then? PS, they look just like this (they don't have ball ends, but a loop arrangement instead which allows for simple installation/removal)
6. I used to have one of these. Really good, underrated amps. I sold mine to go micro. Two Sansamps plus a 300W (loud, so I assume its a real 300 Watts) power amp all rolled into one. Best of luck with sale but I am guessing it will be gone fast
7. For a non-traditional bass, this Warwick Corvette is stunningly good value at £350 http://basschat.co.uk/topic/188716-fs-1995-warwick-corvette-german-bubingawenge-l350/
8. If you intend to keep to the ska/two-tone genre, Jamie, I am not sure a Jazz would cut through enough for you. A Precision or - if you want some active oomph - a Stingray might be better. If your budget is up to £500 this looks nice (although its not clear if its sold) http://basschat.co.uk/topic/186469-for-sale-fender-highway-one-precision-bass/page__p__1802189__hl__precision__fromsearch__1#entry1802189 And if more than £500, this is a beaut http://basschat.co.uk/topic/189166-2005-buttercream-ltd-ed-stingray/ as is this http://basschat.co.uk/topic/186667-for-sale-fender-american-standard-precision-bass/page__p__1831427__hl__precision__fromsearch__1#entry1831427
9. Bit of an odd one. Playing to a super-trendy crowd in a coffee shop in Dalston as part of a 'happening' (there was also a fashion show and art illustrations on display). One of our two singers had the lurgy so we had to choose songs carefully so as not to damage her voice and cut our set to 30 mins from 45. Played well under the circumstances and got a good reaction. Best of all, it was the first outing for my newly-acquired Kolstein travel bass which acquitted itself really well (I amplified it through a Realist pickup and a Phil Jones Briefcase combo with no preamp). Now where is the wax for my moustache and where did I leave my Plus Four trousers? Yes, people really look like that in Dalston ....
10. Wil sold me a Realist double bass pickup. It arrived in great condition and with all original packaging, virtually as good as new- and he was kind enough to send it to me on approval. Top man. Many thanks Wil!
11. No worries Sean! There will be plenty more gigs - and we are esp excited about headlining the Half Moon on 14th Nov
12. That sounds a fabulous deal, Keith! I paid considerably more for my 1880s German flatback Its such a buyers' market right now
13.
Why if he's got a top quality fender which is basically a custom shop one would he play MIM ones just cos they've got his name on them?
He wouldn't! But paying punters who love Mastodon would
14. For those not seeking a night of filth 'n roll with BRX' band Dick Venom & The Terrortones, there's always the more ethereal world of All The Queens Ravens in another corner of North London tomorrow. We are onstage about 9.30pm and have a 45 minute set. You even get to look at 'sharing skirts' and drawings thereof. For the avoidance of doubt I will not be sharing a skirt

16. He has a really cool Fender Deluxe Precision with a custom shop silverburst finish. I've seen him use that live. Like it a lot
17. Lucky person. A very nice bass that I would have probably bought from Paul if it had come up for sale a few months earlier, before I splashed out on my German flatback
18. As per another thread, it might help your sale if you had some higher quality pictures including close-ups plus a bit of background on the bass etc. Looks a very nice Ric although it might be an idea to double-check previous sale prices on 4001's to see if you are in the right ballpark (this is not a comment on the price, merely a constructive bit of advice to help you maximise your chances of selling). Best of luck with the sale and consider this a bump from me!
19. Loads of basses are sold on this site (I am up to 7 pages of feedback which tells you how many I have bought/sold). To be blunt, if your basses aren't selling, you have either mis-priced or are not trying hard enough! I haven't seen your ads (I'm not in the market right now) but good quality pics help as do sound clips if you can generate them. Also being flexible (offering trade options, p/x, staggered payments etc) Best of luck
20. Sorry to hear this Russ. Hope you are back on a sound financial footing soon and can get back to buying bass gear again
21. Chris needed amp, I had amp. Now Chris has amp, I have cash. Simple really. Chris is one of the very finest on this splendid forum and this must be our zillionth deal! Hope the change of home/country goes smoothly mate
22. Well, after a mega Youtube session I have found the following players who play - if not with fingers vertically - certainly closer to electric bass style than 'traditional/proper' DB style when soloing fast: NHOP (as mentioned above), Stanley Clarke, John Patitucci, Reynaud Garcia Fons and Eddie Gomez (example of Eddie Gomez soloing below). I guess that learning proper DB technique is a marathon, not a sprint, and what works best for me now (which is certainly not 'proper') may evolve over time, with practice. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mkH7wgfuzyo&feature=related
23. Yo, me again! This time I bought a set of DB strings off Dave. All good
24. Looks like I am sorted here
