1. Here's one of the songs Jack will be playing ... and a bump from me http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uDq6580mPaQ
2.
Your always playing the same night as me. Good luck with the launch!
Cheers Kev, spookily it turns out my guitarist (Luke) played in a band with your drummer (Frank) for 7 years and went to college together!
3. Bump for a cool piece of kit that sounds very natural and mic-like and has some huge advocates on TalkBass http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f4/ehrlund-blog-sort-909299/
4. Sunny Saturday bump. This is a bargain for the quality and size
5. Mmmm sunburst
6. Me again and another string deal with Greg. As before, all good
7.
Good luck with the launch mate
Cheers! Looks like a good turnout - from FaceBook event page alone we have over 70 and I know quite a few coming who don't frequent FB
8. Would love to come along Lozz but have family stuff on that evening. have a cracking gig mate ... and TransistorBassman too!
9. If people stopped talking b*llocks, there'd be no BassChat. Woz not, Nige!
10. phwoar! Aguilar plus Berg sounds fantastic, as those of us who attended the recent Bassbash were able to witness (courtesy of Barrie/Molan and his impressive BassGear display)
11.
Still can't believe you've sold on your BigE though - that will definitley end up back with you...
If I played jazz or any style of music where there was space for the DB to be heard I would still own the BigE. In my band I may as well be playing through an Ampeg stack
12. Gear re-think again. This is back up for sale at a slightly lower price of £375 posted or £365 collected
13. I heard a quick demo from Jack before his band practice last night and completely concur. Fabulous punchy, warm sound that you just can't get (at least 100%) with a modern, non-valve head
14. I sold this original 60s Ampeg Baby Bass in May 2012 and the prescient Dave (aka TheRev) predicted I would buy it back within six months. Well, the principle was right although it was a 14 months gap in the end. Anyway, with the exception of the characteristic UVEX whiff (which I will never get used to and Mrs C is somewhat unhappy about in her sitting room!) I am delighted to have this retro, uber-cool beauty back. May even play it at our album launch gig next Monday
15. I know Jon and the bass concerned and all the grief it caused him, starting from the get go (when JE supplied incorrectly specified machine heads if I recall correctly). You are of course entitled to state your good experiences with Bravewood but I feel its frankly over-stepping the mark to question the conduct of another customer who did nothing wrong and essentially received a custom instrument costing over a grand that was not fit for purpose.
16. Fraid so Chris, at least for now
17. Update: I am going to keep this bass (at least for now) as I have agreed a trade deal on my 70/1 P fretless. Of course I reserve the right to change my mind at least 17 times Would still be nice to have a beer some time Chris if you make iit to the smoke
18. Need-to-sell-one-of-my-two-fretless-basses type bump
19. My first band would also have qualified had we made it (some chance). Pretensious bunch of 17/18 year olds (post-Joy Division floppy fringes wearing 32-pleat Bowie trousers, electric blue chelsea boots and cavalry shirts - this was 1980) decide to follow William Burroughs 'cut up' methodology and randomly pick words from a book. The (perpetually cringe-inducing) result: sensation = grey/blue
20. K*nt and the Gang I can just imagine the guys having to explain that one to their Grannies when they say "so what's your band called?"
21.
To be precise, the neck feels very slim but I believe its a Precision width (this article describes it as such http://www.njaz.com/...rs/fenderae.htm). I can measure nut width tonight (oo err)
Rewind! It is a Jazz ('A') width. I measured it at 1.5" at the nut. Which may rule it out for you Chris
22. I had this with an old Acoustic Image head (from an early Series Contra combo) and I didn't get charged as it was marked as for repairing faulty goods
23.
What it's all about? Do you mean that's it's only worth playing if it's for 80,000n or more?
I think you know full well that wasn't literally what was meant.
24. Fair do's Nige. My view is that there's nothing to stop side projects to engage your creativity while pulling in the bucks and adulation as a day job. Plus I am a slag
