1.
http://www.ebay.co.u...y-/321247133119 and a gig bag with a furry leopard print interior! Please buy it to stop me.
Good job London is some distance away from Liverpool - that is a rather fabulous looking beastie!
2. I just sold my Mike Lull P bass to Matt (aka knackeredjazz). Matt is a pro bassist with a fantastic musical CV and a thoroughly nice chap to boot. Was his first time buying on BassChat and the whole deal was seamless, from comms to payment to pickup. Highly recommended
3. I would go the 'Owning an Alembic' page here http://alembic.com/cgi-bin/alembic-club/discus.cgi?pg=topics and entitle it 'Calling MIca ... nut problem' or such like (Mica being the front person of Alembic and also quite helpful in my experience). Best of luck!
4. I've played it too and can vouch for it. Its a lovely thing which I would snap up bar the fact I can't do 1.75" nuts (oo err missus) any more with my knackered left hand
5. "The soundman's not here yet so you probably won't have time for a soundcheck" (when arriving 2-3 hours before our allocated set time)
6. "Hey Bilbo, do you know the dots to Moondance?"
7. Which reminds me http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cEaRCAcfOEQ
8. My worry is it looks like an enormous chocolate coloured phallus on the left hand side
9. and for some full on RAWKKKKK, I give you Megadeth and Hangar Eighteen http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B-oU2xlViRQ
10. Here's my bit of brightening up a dreary Sunday, a bit of classic 70s disco with a super-funky bass line http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DY0tsKCB4lc
11.
That's pretty funny. My point was that one can't expect others to share the same views and that's okay. Interesting that you took that as so c negative. Maybe that says something about you, doesn't it? But thank you for your constructive contribution.
I agree with Billy Apple, your comment came over as laced with vinegar. I don't think anyone here is dumb enough enough to think everyone appreciates their own musical tastes so why p*ss on someone's else's parade? As for your reply, it must be lovely to live in your world
12. Yep, good song JImmi! Might be worth adding some specs (eg, weight, nut width). Fabulous looking bass
13. On hold, pending a viewing later today
14. Bump with some details. We will be onstage just after 10pm and have a roughly half hour set. Its a good cause as all the evening's profits go to Medecins Sans Frontieres' Typhoon appeal
15. Thanks! You can get the live experience too (as I see you are from London) as we are playing the Old Queen's Head in Islington next Wednesday, onstage just after 10pm. Its a good cause too as all the evening's profits go to Medecins Sans Frontieres' Typhoon appeal
16.
I keep coming back to this one. Sadly all I have to offer in trade is a winning smile and a bass that cannot be named on this forum. Neither of which are on your trades list.
Hey Dougal! A winning smile is always a good thing but in this case I would prefer a fat envelope full of readies rather than one of those basses that cannot be named!
17. Sorry for the OP's expensive troubles. I had no issues at all with Olivs apart from tuning stability. They play and sound utterly wonderful, the nicest strings of all to my ears. I now have Velvet Animas which do a passable impersonation and are less variable but am tempted to slap on an Oliv G again
18. Did you say temptation? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0NdJFmyLmMo
19. I have had a lowball offer in Euros with shared shipping so I just want to make some points clear: 1. If its a non-UK sale, the shipping is extra and paid by the buyer (likely about £60 to mainland Europe) 2. The price is in £ (pounds) and if a non-UK buyer wishes to make an offer, that person has to pay me in £ (ie, they take the currency exchange rate risk, not me) For a quick deal I will accept £1500 with handover in central London. I won't go lower as I have no pressing need to sell right now
20.
I've got one of those but it really struggles with the lower two strings. Somewhat amazingly the tuner app that I downloaded for my phone actually works really well.
I have to rely on the octave harmonic with my E string and my Snark clip-on tuner
21. That pic makes we want an SG bass
22.
This is such a beautiful bass and I was tempted in the past - I too had assumed/read 1.5" for the nut. I seem to feel a need for a Precision just now - I've had loads and never got on with them but there's a timeless rock'n'roll coolness to the design (unlike me)
Cheers Loz! I'll do you a good deal against your Brown bass Yes I know thats a non-starter!
23. The full unexpurgated version for those unable to link. Its like haiku, except longer and crapper: "As the beginning of an electric base Although it is the born precision base, The design and specification which were completed are the present. It can be said that all the electric bases were affected. One of arrival of goods is one were manufactured at the first half of the 70s this time, The CBS head logo of the feature of the specification of the 70s, a natural ash body, Neck Shape of the thin figure of the nut width of B Shape, etc. It is characteristic specification. There is a statement of neck. It is easy to grasp a slender neck, and it is easy to flip it and it has become, Even if again had from JazzBass, sense of incongruity is seldom felt. It is easy to be an omission which consists of a 1P maple neck with a thin figure. In a large-boned base sound."
